Sounds something like Confucius’ “rectification of names”, or roles. Father needs to be a father, a husband a husband...Wisdom of the East reflects wisdom of the West....and thus chaos gives way to harmony.

Have any of you read into the breach? I suggest you do before you comment on what the “church” is shoving at you. Written by a bishop not a lumberjack.
The Knights of Columbus a fantastic organization has made a series inspired by men who have been called to action and are now living in the Breach, right exactly where God calls us to be. Ezekiel 22:30
What are you doing to answer the call to battle?

Ok, this is great, but there isn't necessarily anything wrong with video games as the visuals seem to imply. Makes it seem like it's a wimpy thing to partake in when it's just really a hobby/pass time.

This video is no doubt inspiring, but like so many videos on "authentic" masculinity, it portrays rustic idealism more than realism. We need to understand the society and culture we live in today. I love the imagery shown of men bailing hay on a farm and making things out of wood while women take a more passive traditional role- its an all to familiar representation of this idealized culture that thrived nearly a century ago. The type of man that Christianity encourages young men to be today is like asking a man to wear a suit and tie everyday in an increasingly informal society. We are living in a society where most women are self reliant and educated and do not need or want a man leading them in their lives and the few that may want that sort of man, are extremely few. We are living in a society and economy where most of our work is performed behind screens and in doors. I would love to wake up and have a "manly job" like working on a farm or building furniture, but I also don't want to be poor living from pay check to pay check, never being able to save enough to afford financial security. We are living in a society where people simply aren't interested in "socializing" anymore, but rather choose social media, Netflix, etc to quench their boredom. This is the society we are living in and it won't change back to what it once was. It's difficult to be this traditional type of masculinity in a society that doesn't recognize or facilitate it. The only way to live up to this idealism, is to remove yourself from the mainstream society, and create one insulated from outside influences. The Amish have managed to do this successfully.

It's true. But responsibility with no authority is slavery. Most men will accept responsibility, but be prevented from authority.
Be leaders of self and house.

Do we careful though, remember Adam's temptation after the Fall, that is still our temptation as fallen men.

Matthew Kathain if this pushes you away maybe your going down the wrong path. Service and skill are paramount in Masculinity. Learn a skill, do something not focused on your self. You don’t need to be a lumberjack, but learn a skill

    • @alberttreado8257

Matthew Kathain, the message your feeling is the one impressed on you by the culture. The point, the message, is you God didn’t make you for nothing. As a man, God impressed upon your very being, various tendencies. The cultures telling you those are bad. We’re telling you those tendencies are half of what begins to make a family whole. To ignore those, to push those away, is to build your family on sand. This is the first part of a much larger message. That message isn’t go be a soldier, a fireman, a woodworker. It’s meant to be, open yourself up to be the best human person God, for all, and from all, eternity created you to be. God created you to be a man. Pray and form yourself to be the highest, and best man God created you to be! Much Love Brother! God made you, God doesn’t make junk!
