I've driven both VTEC and VVTI cars out on the roads at night. VTEC by Honda is usually a smoother and more comfortable ride even when hard accelerating. But I'd have to go with the VVTI in my 2005 Camry Sportivo. It throws you in the back of your seat very harshly and feels much more like a true sports car. Though I loved the many times within my mate's Honda NSX which by all means is an absolute beast of a machine, there is just no denying how brutal the throwback is of a VVTI Toyota Camry is. Being completely honest, I found the VVTI to kick in more than VTEC but VTEC is still a very smooth and genius design.
Toyotas VTT-I system gives you more torque at lower RPMs. Most Toyotas hit 90% torque as low as 2300 RPM and carry it all the way to peak. As an example, my 2007 Lexus GS puts out 274 pound feet of torque at 3600 RPM but it hits 90% of the torque at around 2300 RPM.
VTEC includes VVT difference is that VVT doesn't have lift the intelligent version of VTEC is of course, i-VTEC which is where the i in VVT-i also comes from
I'm so sorry, what I said earlier is completely wrong. VTEC does not have VVT. That would be i-VTEC, which combines VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) and VTC (Valve Timing Control)! My bad 😔

But how does vtec mechanism controls the timing? From the video I understand it controlls only the lift. But maybe I am wrong. Thanks!
sorry, I didn't go as in depth as I should've. So to adjust the cam timing the cam gear can shift by a few degrees using a solenoid/motor if I'm not wrong. This solenoid shifts the cam gears by a few degrees based on the ECU tuning, Rpm, boost, etc.
