I think you should leave the trolley wheel as they are expensive, looks like its still solid enough

Yeah, I’ve had that thought. I think it will be very hard to get it repaired and it also adds some character to the engine.

I think you did a good job cleaning the parts , they look fine .
I wouldnt bother spraying them with anti rust coat as long as you give them a good base coat dedicated to metal parts.
Before you try dismantling the magneto you should really clean the contact points , in 99% of cases that is the only problem with the magneto . There is not a lot you can fix inside just try a good pointe clean first . Do not use sandpaper to clean the points just use the tip off a sharp knife to clean them as good as you can .

I’m just worried that the wire brushes aren’t doing a good job as I can still see (what I think) surface rust in the pitting. I’ve bought the rust converter already so it won’t do any harm in applying it, will it? I’ll remember that for cleaning the points, thanks 😊

@@blairsworkshop to me it looks really the same surface as if i treated the part myself . Using the rust converter wont be any problem as long as it is useable with the new you got .

They really are amazing engines aren’t they. Your lucky yours works (nearly) straight away, I’ve spent 6 months working on this one now 😂.
