I think so, if you look here ua-cam.com/video/8wxejmeAKwI/v-deo.html it looks like they are repeating the removal of the shock on the opposite side. I'm going to assume that you do need to lower both sides and put the whole back on stands

I have seen one You Tube video where just one shock was unbolted so I'm going to try this first.
