Great job April! Last year I was adding an outlet in my kitchen to a wall that didn't have an outlet. I decided to add a pop-up outlet just like that under my dining room table. When you need it, it's EXTREMELY handy! And a clean look too! Well done! Get R done!
This was great to see April. My wife and I have wanted to put an outlet in our kitchen floor by an island counter that we bought several years ago. I think seeing this video just gave me the much needed motivation to finally get going on that project.
I have not heard of this pop-up outlet until now! Thank you for your ever pushing forward, you’re an inspiration to all of us loyal fans
Thank you so much!
Love the designed of that outlet box. I can see myself installing a few in the near future. Thanks April for the heads up! :)
I love how that turned out......looks great! Got such a kick out of all the dogs watching what you were doing and the big dog laying in the small bed while the little dogs shared the big bed.....too cute!!!
Slick as a wet whistle, great job April. Worked out real good for you. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Thank you so much for this! We have been using extension cords in our living room because we have two recliners in the middle of the room with no outlets. Now I can install this and plug in my computer right there. 👍🏼 Thanks for sharing! 🙌🏼
Same with us. Glad I ran across this video.
Record player stand?!?! YES! PLEASE! It has been almost a year since I bought mine, and it really wants to have a home out of the box it came in. Plz do make a video of your build!
I have been a silent, faithful subscriber for years, I look forward to your video release weekly. I have been with ya since way back when ...some crazy girl...for the thrill of it...did donuts in a corvette! Pretty good ones if I recall 🤔!! Loved it!!
...but anyways... Yes, Please, record player stand!! Thank you for being your awesome self!
Thanks for still being along for the ride. :)
April, you are amazing! I mean going as far as cutting a hole on your floor 😲. You're my inspiration!😃
WOW That's wonderful, GREAT job April!
Great video April. Lot of ingenuity and flat out skill here!
I'm amazed at how calm your pets are during this.
Harbor Freight sells an inexpensive set of 33’ fiberglass glow sticks (fish rods) that work great for fishing wires in situations like this. Mine have been invaluable.
Love all your videos April!
well thats 50$ probably never need them again and ive used pex in a pinch works just as good.
You did a great job, April. The Pop-up outlet is perfect for your situation. I get a kick out of your giddiness when your workout the details.
Thanks for sharing. Felix
Thank you so much!
Great Video April, Love It !💖
Thanks for sharing, you always have great ideas
Awesome work April! 😃👍🏻👊🏻 ..... I actually enjoy snaking wires 😊
Great video!! I think you 100% deserve your views and subcribers!! God Bless.
Absolutely brilliant idea April. Very nice video this week. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep making. God bless.
Thanks so much!
I also love the support of the dogs 🥰
Quality project. Your enthusiasm is great ☺️
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing the great wiring tips. Who'd a thunk it would be so 'relatively' easy? Oh, and I DO like how you are now incorporating your sponsorship messages in your vids.
😀👍Very cool! Love how much you enjoy yourself while doing these projects. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
Great video. And thanks for the tip about the separate grounding. Thumbs up!
Glad it was helpful!
Love it! Thank you for making this video!!!
Great video always fun to watch!
Sweet! I really dig the pop-up outlets. Keep'em Sharp! 👍👍✌️
Loved it!! I learn so much from you!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for the giggles. Yes, your supers were busy the whole time! Great job!
Yes, they are relentless! :) Thanks for watching.
I don't really do DIY but I found this video really fun to watch!
Great idea and well done! I like the pop up outlet in lieu of the brass plate style. The pop up certainly has a clean look and you always make it look simple by providing all the steps! Thanks and hope all is well in your neck of the woods!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, all is well thank you. Thanks for watching.
Another great video Ms April
Thanks April, great idea and demonstration. Keep them coming....😀
Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
Girl I swear your giddiness is so funny that it's contagious. I can't remember if I have ever seen a video on Installing a floor mounted outlet before. When I saw you cutting your rug, I was like noooooooo what is she going. But I don't blame you for it, I might have done the same thing if I was in your shoes.
Really good video. Helpful to see another person do this before I tackle it myself.
Great! Glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Great job April!
I have a few spots that I'd like to do this and you gave me some great ideas. Diggin the end tables too. Happy Sunday!
😊👍👍
Thanks! Yes, I enjoyed making the end tables. Thanks for watching.
@@AprilWilkerson A pleasure. Thank you for sharing.
This is awesome. I really like your electrical videos.
Glad you like them!
Beautiful and useful video as always
Yess sir
What an interesting and well-done presentation! An in-floor outlet had not occurred to me! A great problem-solver. And your video is delightful - thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it and found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Love the floor outlet!
Good job! I love watching you work
Hello 👋 how are you doing today??
You are an inspiration
Great idea, April~! That solves the problem I have in 2 rooms where I have extension cords running out onto the floor under rugs. Not the preferred way to do it, but they're in areas where there's no foot traffic to trample the cords. Thanks for the inspiration. I'm off to get my multi-tool & Sawzall~!!
Hello my friend 🙏🤝
Awesome! Sounds great! Thanks for watching.
you never fail to amaze!
You are insanely smart and inspiring. Great work.
Thank you so much! And thanks for watching.
Great idea April, you should use double sided tape to put that rug cut out on the lid of the outlet so when you have nothing plugged in the rug doesn't look funny with a hole in it.
Exactly what I was thinking.
You are awesome. Love the guitars.
I really like that pop up outlet!👍🏼☮️
Done brilliantly, Bravo
This outlet set-up looks great. I grew up with vinyl, so I thoroughly understand why you want to have a turntable and listen to old albums.
Thanks for sharing this video with us.
What are your current favorite vinyl albums?
You make such helpful videos for us Amy! I am installing a floor outlet under my kitchen island. Thank you for your tips and tricks.
April, not Amy. :) Glad you found it useful.
@@AprilWilkerson Whoops, sorry April!
I have an 8 foot 3/4” pvc pipe that I have used to feed wire through, and 14/2 Romex feeds perfectly through it! Also, the receptacle you used is 20a (which is fine if you’re running this from a 20a breaker, but NOT ok if running from a 15a breaker, for those who might be thinking about picking one of those up for their home!)
The cat was all, "What in the world are you doing crazy hooman?!" At 3:28... hahahahaha
Well done. Good job. Good idea
Great idea!
Well done!
great job!
Great work on the floor plug April! Thanks for sharing the video with us!👍💖😎JP
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@AprilWilkerson 😎
Good thing I watched this. Want to build an outdoor studio and was trying to think of the possible ways to put outlets in. This could be perfect.
Excellent! Glad you found it useful. Thanks for watching.
Just FYI for anyone doing this you should be aware that it is against code for your kitchen counter/island/peninsula receptacles to serve power to anything but countertop space or dining area.
This was a great tutorial! Thanks for posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sheathed cable IS permitted to be run exposed on surfaces or inside cabinets, etc. If subject to direct physical damage then it requires supplemental protection. The term "subject to physical damage" is not defined by the NEC so it becomes an interpretative issue. Exposed cable is very common in this scenario.
The cable is susceptible to damage. Also when you add to an existing circuit it needs to be Arcfault protected. I do like the creative aspects.
mc cable is what u use, you putting anything in the cabinet subjects it too damage. 2nd you cant run a liv room plug or anything off the 2 required small appliance circuits in the kitchen. if were being legal and what not.
Ah yes. Follow April for the IDEA, don't follow for the direction. Hire an electrician that knows the code so you don't die.
@@keithlmayersjr3669 Yep. Had the same reaction. She honestly did a great job with the installation. If only she had an electrician friend to recommend the MC cable and steer her toward acquiring the circuit from anything other than the required dedicated circuits of a dwelling unit.
This is a great idea. Especially as great rooms become more prevalent, having outlets I. The middle of the floor is almost a necessity
Yes, I think all homes should have this option. Thanks for watching.
Very cool April!!!
awesome video April keep on rolling the vid be safe
Thank you!
This channel is such a great "outlet" for your creativity!
Thank you so much!
I put in 2 of these in my kitchen wall above the counter a few years ago because they looked cool.
the new editing style and the dogs chilling are great!
also, funny how luck follows when you know what you are doing. If I make a whole on the floor, be sure it will be in the wrong place.
I have found the easiest way for me to run a line anywhere that there is enough room in a hollow wall or in the subfloor is with a vacume cleaner to guide a delicate string from one hole to the next and then use the string to pull your main line.
I’m totally adding this to my todo list!
Awesome! I'm so glad I did this project, I love it! Thanks for watching.
Excellent video. You have the same floor tile that we do! And I’m happy that you are into vinyl. I have a turntable and loads of LPs.
Awesome! Yes, I'm really enjoying my Vinyl Albums. Thanks for watching.
Hi April. When you build the cabinet for the turntable you should find a way to isolate the table from the vibration that the speakers cause. That vibration can mess up the playback / damage your records from a bouncing stylus.
use hockey pucks to lift/isolate the turntable away from the table top/shelf
Perfect instruction...thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the awesome idea of getting juice in the middle of my room😉
The way your dogs were laid there watching you cut a hole in your floor 😂
Great work you put super glue around the rug it will keep it from unraveling on you !!! Like all your video's keep up the Great work you do !!!!
I love you're supervisory team :) they're sooo cute
Nicely done.
Thanks!
J'ai adoré la prise de courant sous le tapis.....beau travail
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
One reason to use removable suspended ceiling in basements and never sheetrock. I've run into issue of people wanting to add something electrical way too often after they had finished the basement.
You're such an awesome person!
Respect from south korea
Great job as always. Looking at some of the negative comments I am glad that I don't live in an area where it seems you can't do this, can't do that, and probably require an electrician to plug in an extension cord (assuming that is permitted) :-) Keep up the good work and thanks again.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching.
Great job!
Nice projects. Glad you had space under the joists. Great supervisors make a great outcome. 🤪
They also make a product called "Carpet Tape". It's similar to a fish tape that you electricians use but it's wider and flat and made to run under carpet. It would work Great here in this situation.
Very cool!
Beautiful 🤙🏾💯❤
What would you have done if the floor had been concrete? Well done. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
I’m assuming that was done on the second floor of her house! I don’t think you can do that on the first floor because you have concrete underneath.
@@rodmis1 Depends on the house. If you have a basement, there's probably a wooden floor on the entry level. Here in the UK wooden suspended floors are common on the ground floor even if there's no basement.
@@cooperised April said that she was working on the second floor.
Just exactly the same sockets we had in my office in 1961.
Only 51 years ago.
What a new idea 💡
😃
As father Christmas says
Ho Ho Ho
Toppp 😊😊👍
Probably didn't have USB outlets in them though did they?
@@garys9694 No USB plugs indeed..though the 5 Amp 1920s round plug sockets for the electro mechanical calculators were fitted in the accounts department floor outlets.
We had all the mod cons oh yes.
All our telephones were "sanitised" by the professional team who visited once a month.
Cool eh !
Twas a far far different world .. but mains sockets in the floor were simply de rigeur.
I love it awesome project
Glad you like it
that was so epic
Hi April! I came by your shop last week on the way to San Antonio, but unfortunately you were in FL that day. Jordan gave me a nice tour though and I went home with a frac/dec chart that I'd been wanting to get for some time. All is looking great!
Yes, I'm usually in my own Shop if in town but occasionally am at The Wood Shed. Thanks for stopping by, watching and being supportive of what I do.
nieces be lookin at women like you knowing that they could do whatever they put their mind to. true inspiration
Thanks, but even guys who weren't taught these things, enjoy my tutorials and feel they too can attempt something new. Thanks for watching.
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it
lol, the looks on the dogs' faces are priceless. :)
Also very useful for putting a outlet in counter tops if you aren’t always going to use it such as in a van or rv
The way the dog walked by looking at you in the beginning... 🤣🤣🤣🤣 And then the cat when you flipped the rug back was seriously perturbed!
Amazing
Cute 🥰 claw clip April.
