I'm in the same zone as you. When do crepe myrtle break dormancy? Mine looks dead.

Hi. The crepe myrtles are always the last to break dormancy in the spring. They usually start pushing up growth around mid April. I find myself checking mine every other day just waiting to see that new growth coming up😂😂

🙏🏽🌺Thank you for this video! My Black Diamond just broke with new growth, last week. Tiny buds and I’m so happy! Is it too late to trim it like you did with the first example if there are new buds forming?
