These groups forever changed the landscape of not just kpop but the whole music scene. I haven't heard of Kpop before 2021 but after bumping into Blackpink I never looked back and went to the kpop rabbit hole. My go to music and genre is still Metal but I certainly like Kpop.

I haven't finished exploring 3rd Gen kpop just yet. I'm planning on reviewing 2nd Gen starting with SNSD, Wonder Girls and 2NE1. Kpop is pretty big in china because most Cpop idols also started as Kpop artists.

Most of the YG groups follows this like treasure, 2ne1, ikon and blackpink ( means pretty isn't everything, this is meaning of groups name). It's amazing that YG mostly collects talents not visuals

I think it's true that Blackpink made a big impact on the girl crush concept. Even thou they are not the first, they really took the concept to the next level which influenced the 4th gen girl groups. Also, they are the group that they all stand out and no one is out shining anyone!.

No one can make 2nd bts and blackpink! 4th generation groups can be popular but it's impossible for them to achieve the success on international scale that bts and blackpink already received. 3rd generation was a like a diamond to korea ! They shouldn't lose it.
For me each an every group is iconic in their own way ,Actually i was living under a rock back in 2019 that i didnt even know something like kpop existed (i am sorry) but not until 2020 where i got myself too much into social media where i discovered BLACKPINK (one of the best things social media has done to me) and THEIR i discovered a whole new part of the earth called KPOP and the more i dig into it the more impressive i was getting (This does not include the scandals and stuffs which are depressing)and was literally hearing bangers from groups comebacks like LITRALLY and also I got to know about 2nd gen groups and their songs as well which are TOTALLY BOPS.
*No kpop groups will never ever be recreated. Yes, you'll have more groups coming into the industry, who can or will pass out their popularity, their achievements etc... like getting more awards, having the most sales on an album, breaking more records. But the one's who did 1, 2, 3 etc... will always be remembered that they were the ones who did it first. Stay safe*

I agree. I've been checking out other gg's also. Some of them were also very popular and a lot of album sales but still no one is comparable to blackpink's charisma
1st gen artist made kpop into Japan market. 2nd gen into China market, SEA market, American music chart. 3rd gen made kpop become globally well known. The first group to win daesang who is not under big 3 is B2ST. The song Nobody by Wonder Girls actually made kpop well known in the south east asia countries.
You got it wrong. It was 2nd gen who made it in Japan (BoA, TVXQ, BB) and China (Rain, Super Junior, BB). 3rd made it further in Asia and other parts of the globe like Europe and 4th is truly dominating America and entering the global market as an stampede
for me is Big Bang, EXO, BTS, Girls Generation, 2NE1, f(x), TVXQ, Twice and Blackpink BTS and Blackpink the modern the rest of the groups Ive mentioned were the starters and the ones whove made it global so the modern groups got more known
and vice versa If you're gonna talk about the past then all of those groups owe a massive chunk of their success to Seo taiji.. the guy literally started kpop. ..But here's the thing (a little off topic here but you'll get what I'm trying to say), although theoretically without Einstein's dad or grandfather, the world wouldn't have gotten a great genius like Einstein but at the same time the miracles that he did doesn't come from or rely on his ancestors. One might argue the other way.. but if that was the case then instead of celebrating the brilliance of great minds of Einstein or Da Vinci, we would have to constantly thank and praise their ancestors in our physics and math books for have 5 minutes of epiphany in their bed with their better halves.

What we do is acknowledge the other scientists and mathematicians who came before him. Einstein didn't create all the scientific or mathematical tools he used in his research. And his ideas were in some way influenced by the great thinkers who came before him. By the same token, modern Kpop groups didn't invent the industry or start from zero when breaking into different markets. As much as folks talk about BTS breaking into the Western market, they were not the first to gain some type of notoriety in the West. Before them there was Wonder Girls, Psy and G-Dragon. The accomplishments of those who came before should not be forgotten.
Whether they did or didn't make kpop popular internationally, they definitely made some things easier for their juniors. Many 2nd gen groups went through a lot of hardship and managed to change things that many fans these days don't even know were a problem. Like slave contracts for example.

Some of their achievements will be matched. Just like BTS topped Billboard charts, other Kpop artists are doing that as well. Stray Kids latest album topped the Hot 200 albums chart. BTS can still claim to be the first to have some achievements, but they won't be the last.

BTS have about 65 daesangs actually and surely more to come. Bang PD himself said that he doesn't feel like he will ever be able to recreate a group like BTS. Abd he said this not only the basis of their achievement but also on the basis of their bond, friendship and brotherhood. They are not just a group but a family.
I’m really proud of BTS so many Didn’t think they would make it but it’s been 9 years and they been working for 10 years Rm really proved everyone wrong when many said didn’t look like an idol yet BTS still get hate how which they don’t deserve .you are right no one can everyone replace any of these groups it’s just impossible.

This could be said about almost all 1st gen,2nd gen and 3rd gen Groups because 1st gen started the foundation of kpop as they started to make their own names in the country 2nd gen started to spread it's essence outside korea throughout Asia which we know as "the hallyu wave". 3rd gen continued what 2nd gen started while making it even stronger by breaking it to western countries 4th gen is trying to keep that korean wave by trying out new things and such
For me the other group SM Entertainment will never recreate is EXO they have one of the greatest Concept in Kpop history all the records they broke after 10 years they're still one of the top selling groups and most successful artist in Kpop history. Because of them a lot of things change they are the reason album sales became a thing again they became the first group to perform in Tokyo Dome without releasing a Japanese single and getting to perform there 3 years after debut. They are one of the reasons a lot of people came to South Korea when they became ambassadors of Korean tourism. And they became the first group to perform at the clothing ceremony of the Winter Olympics and got their own commemorative medals for being leaders of the K-pop wave and being the first to sell 10 million albums. And they are in the Guinness World records for being one of the groups with the most Daesangs in K-pop and they are sextuple million sellers and baekhyun is the first double million seller in 19 years and EXO is the biggest selling group in China from Korea. Don't get me wrong congratulations to the the four groups but for me definitely EXO there will never be another like them

The thing about BTS is the fact that they're literally a once in a century type of band.. there will not be any sequel to them nor will there be a remake. They're forever engraved in the history books with the likes of The Beatles, J5, Backstreet Boys etc. Yes, there will be more group in the future that will reach that level one day.. maybe but not as a BTS or Beatles part 2 but as "themselves". And as for that next group, given that we're living in a more globalized world than anytime in history, that group may as well be from parts of the world that nobody expects, not necessarily American pop, British pop, kpop or jpop.. but from a world that's yet to come to the global atmosphere. And as for rest of the future kpop generation, this is the time to be alive, it's perhaps the golden age where regardless of your background you've a chance to shine.. as the whole world is currently focusing on your home ground thanks to a certain band.

No but Blackpink will always be special, considering they are kind of snubbed by the very place they came and represented ,the kpop industry. I remember people always talking about achievements of their groups and yes bp has had many of that but still it still hurt me sometimes them not getting the things they deserved from the place they came from .But imagine still being on top as even rolling stone said that BP has never needed a stamp of approval from anyone and that's why i am so proud. They aren't just mere kpop idols for me especially, they've always been different and though haters are like they're aren't even idols and they are completely correct they aren't ,they're artists they're much bigger than that and no matter what bp decides in future but one thing is for sure they all will always be successful wherever they go and I hope happy. Every group is one of a kind there cannot be any group that can be recreated every group is special in their own way. As for SNSD and Bigbang they got a lot of people into Kpop sad to see 2nd gen fading away.
For me, the kpop groups that can never be recreated are EXO and Mamamoo. They got me into kpop and have kept me wanting to hear more and more. However, every group mentioned, though I don't really listen to them, deserves their spot on the list. Even with the minimal kpop knowledge I have, I can clearly see that a lot of 1st thru 3rd gen groups are so unique and extremely talented that, aside from a very small amount of 4th gen groups, it's very hard to find another group like the older ones. Nowadays I feel vocals are second to dancing. Don't get me wrong, I love the choregraphy and elaborate stages but don't completely sacrifice the live vocals. Yes, I know other prior groups used lipsyncing at times but it's become more and more common to use it in order to give stronger choreography. Much success to all of them though.
Yeah, but mamamoo haven't made a significant impact toward kpop industry in the whole. I think they are just one of biggest gg in third gen. Compared to snsd, 2ne1, twice, blackpink. They pale in comparison. For exo, i think they are good but they can be recreated
About BTS They are also the only kpop artist to get a Grammy nomination They got a Grammy nomination in 2020 or 2019 I think for the cover of one of their album
For me that group is SEVENTEEN. Their level of performance, self-production, synchronization, versatility, all-rounders etc. They have set the bar too high for me ever since 2015 but I will always respect all idols.

SHINee will never be recreated. They may not have all the accolades but there is something that just makes them special and unique. I really don't know how to articulate it or I'm probably just being bias
For me I also think about groups like Seventeen and Mamamoo not just in terms of commercial success, but also artistry. I forgot about to add Got7, Monsta X ,Ateez, Twice and Red Velvet and many more.
They are not legendary enough to be in this list. They didn't inspire people and leave a prominence impact in kpop industry. The group mentioned in this list have a powerful impact in kpop industry. Although twice i agree should have a place at least. But the other group, i will say they are not qualified.
Super junior can be replaced. They only do variety show. Their song are not really good especially sorryx2. It sound like a ringtone sound. It should be TVXQ instead of super junior

Leeteuk is a huge voice in SM not only for Super Junior but for all groups and SM artists consider him their leader as well. To say they only do variety shows is incredibly misleading. Yes a lot of them MC, but they do heaps of other things too, like charity work, Siwon is the SK ambassador for UNICEF, they manage various businesses and continue to put out consistently amazing music every single year and are the longest running active kpop group. They're also on a sold-out global world tour right now, the only group from 2nd gen to still do world tours. On top of that, they're amazing performers, all extremely talented, they can all sing very well and have the most unique blend of voices and talents in a kpop group.They have over 700 songs and have performed the most amount of concerts out of any kpop group. TVXQ, while amazing and I love them, just simply have not had the same level of impact that Super Junior has.

Honestly, it's average and nothing memorable. Tvxq is literally the big sunbae for 2nd generation kpop idol. Do u even know that tvxq sang the opening and ending for one piece? They also open up the way to japan market. Super junior may have some good songs, but it's not memorable and have huge impact. Tvxq also do world tour right now and as far i know the group with the best world tour are bigbang not super junior. The one who makes trend of kpop known in the west are psy, bigbang, wonder girls, bp and bts. Super junior songs only make some news in asian country. The only memorable things about super junior is they are the first group with so many member and their appearance in variety show. In terms of music, tvxq are a lot better than super junior. Most of super junior famous song are produced by other producer, not by their own abilities. The song they produced by themselves actually flop in the chart and not really well known except in their fanbase. Many junior idol nowadays also admire bigbang, tvxq , 2ne1 and snsd. Meanwhile, super junior mostly treat as a comedian in variety show. That's why tvxq are more suited bcz they focus more on music and has inspired many young idol nowadays.

I'd encourage you to do some more research if you have doubts about them being legends in the industry. Super Junior are literally dubbed "The King of Hallyu wave" - like that's their big title in the indsutry. TVXQ is a sunbae for sure, and yes lol I did know that they sang various OPs for One Piece, and it's very cool that they did that. It's OK to not like their music but I'm actually laughing at the fact that you're calling songs like Sorry Sorry, Mr Simple, Sexy, Free & Single, Bonamana and Black Suit "not memorable" and not having a huge impact. Like come on. Just google it and you'll see how well their songs and albums have done. TXVQ's most recent world tour was 2013, they haven't done one since. Big Bang's world tour was great, I was lucky enough to see them when they came to where I live! But I don't think you can call a tour "the best", it would depend on the artist and if you like them or not. Super Junior though have had more overall success with their tours, they're still going so that would be proof of that. Yes their really big songs are produced by others and that's OK, but the thing is that SJ don't care about doing big numbers in the charts anymore, they don't need to. They've made their success and now whatever they do is because they want to and it's for their fans. To say their songs "flop" is such a 4th gen attitude and very immature. I personally think the songs they've written and produced are some of their best. To say that most junior idols nowadays admire those artists but not Super Junior is, again, laughable. So many of the 3rd and 4th gen artists were inspired to become idols because of Super Junior, and they're good friends of them as well. And I'm sorry, I love TVXQ, but I really don't think they're much of a comparison. They haven't done a lot lately, and fair enough, Max is a dad now and Yunho has his own projects, but you really can't compare them in the same way. They simply haven't had the same level of impact that SJ has. Mirotic is a banger for sure, but it never hit the same level as Sorry Sorry. Almost every member of SJ is a household name, everyone in South Korea knows them, both for being on variety shows and for being idols and artists. TVXQ not so much. Also Super Junior recently put out a documentary on Disney+, the only 2nd gen group to do a documentary like this. That's pretty freaking legendary. Anyway, if you prefer TVXQ that's fine and you don't have to like Super Junior, but please don't disrespect them and say they aren't legends when they've achieved so much and gone through so much as a group.

For me each an every group is iconic in their own way ,Actually i was living under a rock back in 2019 that i didnt even know something like kpop existed (i am sorry) but not until 2020 where i got myself too much into social media where i discovered BLACKPINK (one of the best things social media has done to me) and THEIR i discovered a whole new part of the earth called KPOP and the more i dig into it the more impressive i was getting (This does not include the scandals and stuffs which are depressing)and was literally hearing bangers from groups comebacks like LITRALLY and also I got to know about 2nd gen groups and their songs as well which are TOTALLY BOPS.

What we do is acknowledge the other scientists and mathematicians who came before him. Einstein didn't create all the scientific or mathematical tools he used in his research. And his ideas were in some way influenced by the great thinkers who came before him. By the same token, modern Kpop groups didn't invent the industry or start from zero when breaking into different markets. As much as folks talk about BTS breaking into the Western market, they were not the first to gain some type of notoriety in the West. Before them there was Wonder Girls, Psy and G-Dragon. The accomplishments of those who came before should not be forgotten.

Whether they did or didn't make kpop popular internationally, they definitely made some things easier for their juniors. Many 2nd gen groups went through a lot of hardship and managed to change things that many fans these days don't even know were a problem. Like slave contracts for example.

For me the other group SM Entertainment will never recreate is EXO they have one of the greatest Concept in Kpop history all the records they broke after 10 years they're still one of the top selling groups and most successful artist in Kpop history. Because of them a lot of things change they are the reason album sales became a thing again they became the first group to perform in Tokyo Dome without releasing a Japanese single and getting to perform there 3 years after debut. They are one of the reasons a lot of people came to South Korea when they became ambassadors of Korean tourism. And they became the first group to perform at the clothing ceremony of the Winter Olympics and got their own commemorative medals for being leaders of the K-pop wave and being the first to sell 10 million albums. And they are in the Guinness World records for being one of the groups with the most Daesangs in K-pop and they are sextuple million sellers and baekhyun is the first double million seller in 19 years and EXO is the biggest selling group in China from Korea. Don't get me wrong congratulations to the the four groups but for me definitely EXO there will never be another like them

The thing about BTS is the fact that they're literally a once in a century type of band.. there will not be any sequel to them nor will there be a remake. They're forever engraved in the history books with the likes of The Beatles, J5, Backstreet Boys etc.
Yes, there will be more group in the future that will reach that level one day.. maybe but not as a BTS or Beatles part 2 but as "themselves". And as for that next group, given that we're living in a more globalized world than anytime in history, that group may as well be from parts of the world that nobody expects, not necessarily American pop, British pop, kpop or jpop.. but from a world that's yet to come to the global atmosphere.
And as for rest of the future kpop generation, this is the time to be alive, it's perhaps the golden age where regardless of your background you've a chance to shine.. as the whole world is currently focusing on your home ground thanks to a certain band.

For me, the kpop groups that can never be recreated are EXO and Mamamoo. They got me into kpop and have kept me wanting to hear more and more.
However, every group mentioned, though I don't really listen to them, deserves their spot on the list. Even with the minimal kpop knowledge I have, I can clearly see that a lot of 1st thru 3rd gen groups are so unique and extremely talented that, aside from a very small amount of 4th gen groups, it's very hard to find another group like the older ones. Nowadays I feel vocals are second to dancing. Don't get me wrong, I love the choregraphy and elaborate stages but don't completely sacrifice the live vocals. Yes, I know other prior groups used lipsyncing at times but it's become more and more common to use it in order to give stronger choreography. Much success to all of them though.

For me I also think about groups like Seventeen and Mamamoo not just in terms of commercial success, but also artistry. I forgot about to add Got7, Monsta X ,Ateez, Twice and Red Velvet and many more.
They are not legendary enough to be in this list. They didn't inspire people and leave a prominence impact in kpop industry. The group mentioned in this list have a powerful impact in kpop industry. Although twice i agree should have a place at least. But the other group, i will say they are not qualified.

Super Junior literally created the hallyu wave and started the trend of kpop being known in the west, Sorry Sorry was also the first song to be banned before exams because of how catchy it was. Their songs are amazing, literally all of them are bangers especially their b-sides and they don't have a single bad album. You don't have to like Sorry Sorry - and I get it, it's not my favourite song of theirs - but you can't deny the impact that it had and the fact that literally everyone knows it. But they have a huge variety of songs and music genres, from power ballads to jazz, rock, funk, techno, latin etc etc, they've done it all, and your comment makes me think that maybe you haven't listened to their recent stuff? If so, you definitely should.
They produce/write/choreograph and direct a lot of their own songs, and they're the first group to ever get their own music label. Leeteuk is a huge voice in SM not only for Super Junior but for all groups and SM artists consider him their leader as well. To say they only do variety shows is incredibly misleading. Yes a lot of them MC, but they do heaps of other things too, like charity work, Siwon is the SK ambassador for UNICEF, they manage various businesses and continue to put out consistently amazing music every single year and are the longest running active kpop group. They're also on a sold-out global world tour right now, the only group from 2nd gen to still do world tours.
On top of that, they're amazing performers, all extremely talented, they can all sing very well and have the most unique blend of voices and talents in a kpop group.They have over 700 songs and have performed the most amount of concerts out of any kpop group. TVXQ, while amazing and I love them, just simply have not had the same level of impact that Super Junior has.

Tvxq is literally the big sunbae for 2nd generation kpop idol. Do u even know that tvxq sang the opening and ending for one piece? They also open up the way to japan market. Super junior may have some good songs, but it's not memorable and have huge impact. Tvxq also do world tour right now and as far i know the group with the best world tour are bigbang not super junior. The one who makes trend of kpop known in the west are psy, bigbang, wonder girls, bp and bts. Super junior songs only make some news in asian country. The only memorable things about super junior is they are the first group with so many member and their appearance in variety show. In terms of music, tvxq are a lot better than super junior. Most of super junior famous song are produced by other producer, not by their own abilities. The song they produced by themselves actually flop in the chart and not really well known except in their fanbase. Many junior idol nowadays also admire bigbang, tvxq , 2ne1 and snsd. Meanwhile, super junior mostly treat as a comedian in variety show. That's why tvxq are more suited bcz they focus more on music and has inspired many young idol nowadays.

I'd encourage you to do some more research if you have doubts about them being legends in the industry. Super Junior are literally dubbed "The King of Hallyu wave" - like that's their big title in the indsutry. I don't know how much more proof you need than that for them being the group that initially introduced kpop to the west.
TVXQ is a sunbae for sure, and yes lol I did know that they sang various OPs for One Piece, and it's very cool that they did that. But BoA actually was the one who opened up the way to Japan, and Super Junior was the first kpop group to ever promote in China. Sorry Sorry was HUGE! It dominated global charts in a way that kpop never had before. And their subsequent songs also charted worldwide. Their songs when released are still charting globally. They were also the first K-pop artist to enter Billboard’s Latin Songs chart debuting at #2 with Lo Siento. It's OK to not like their music but I'm actually laughing at the fact that you're calling songs like Sorry Sorry, Mr Simple, Sexy, Free & Single, Bonamana and Black Suit "not memorable" and not having a huge impact. Like come on. Just google it and you'll see how well their songs and albums have done.
TXVQ's most recent world tour was 2013, they haven't done one since. Big Bang's world tour was great, I was lucky enough to see them when they came to where I live! But I don't think you can call a tour "the best", it would depend on the artist and if you like them or not. Super Junior though have had more overall success with their tours, they're still going so that would be proof of that.
Yes their really big songs are produced by others and that's OK, but the thing is that SJ don't care about doing big numbers in the charts anymore, they don't need to. They've made their success and now whatever they do is because they want to and it's for their fans. To say their songs "flop" is such a 4th gen attitude and very immature. I personally think the songs they've written and produced are some of their best.
To say that most junior idols nowadays admire those artists but not Super Junior is, again, laughable. So many of the 3rd and 4th gen artists were inspired to become idols because of Super Junior, and they're good friends of them as well. And I'm sorry, I love TVXQ, but I really don't think they're much of a comparison. They haven't done a lot lately, and fair enough, Max is a dad now and Yunho has his own projects, but you really can't compare them in the same way. They simply haven't had the same level of impact that SJ has. Mirotic is a banger for sure, but it never hit the same level as Sorry Sorry.
Almost every member of SJ is a household name, everyone in South Korea knows them, both for being on variety shows and for being idols and artists. TVXQ not so much.
Also Super Junior recently put out a documentary on Disney+, the only 2nd gen group to do a documentary like this. That's pretty freaking legendary.
Anyway, if you prefer TVXQ that's fine and you don't have to like Super Junior, but please don't disrespect them and say they aren't legends when they've achieved so much and gone through so much as a group.
