A friend of mine has a place on the Nueces River on Lucy Lane. He catches lots of white bass there but like to fish Choke Canyon too. Brought me some crappie a couple of months ago we had a fish and shrimp fry here at my place in Bigfoot. He lives at Swinney Switch on the lake has a nice place there does lots of fishing.
I was in waders the whole time. Wore a life jacket while in the kayak. River is very low, some spots you’ll need a kayak to get through but also a lot of pulling and walking the kayak. I’d recommend bringing a kayak. Plenty of places were 8-10inches and I stayed in and paddled through. There are sections of mud that are very dangerous. Last thing I’d want someone doing is sinking in that mud with waders on.
Just be careful most of these fishes are extremely high in mercury if consumed daily can cause some serious problem hope the one u caught dont have any
Noted. Since the run is seasonal, I only eat them during the spring usually only once or twice. Been eating them all my life and only a little messed up in the head!
Why would you take so many?? 😢 And why are there so many people flooding this river?? We barely have enough fish and water as it is and all these people fish it out. I know this will get pulled because everybody only wants positive comments but please leave more than you take to keep fish in our rivers!!! And yes I happen to live on this river so it hits home.
People like this make me mad and sick to the core.My son caught the biggest bass and some fake christian boy was hating and talking smack to him even a grown mad got made.lmao.Boy I wish these people would do all this in front of me instead of stroking the keyboard.
There’s alot of idiots in the world who have way too much free time messing with folks who are actually fooling the law..Some people are really cowards these days no matter the age..smh
No, I won’t remove your comment. I kept 13 fish, when cleaned out, they fed me, my wife, and my kid. Legally I can take 25 but I only kept 13. These limits are established with years and years or research as to not negatively impact populations of fish. There is plenty of water and there are plenty of fish. If you think you know what’s best for the fish populations why are you not working with Texas Parks and Wildlife? Chances are you probably didn’t even watch the full video as I threw quite a few fish back. People aren’t “flooding” to this river. The whitebass run is something that happens year after year. Plus this might trigger you, but there are hundreds of guys that come here and catch their 25 fish to feed their families. If you’re going to comment on something like this, please educate yourself first.

Sounds like a good friend to have. I use to camp choke canyon quite a bit!
Did you need to use the kayak to get from one fishing hole to the next? Did you wear hip boots or waders? I'm headed down there next week.
