Anyone having trouble taking off the float pin use a center punch they’re about $4 at harbor freight its gonna save you so much time they’re usually stuck on there and dont come out as easy as this.

Thanks for the video! Quick question, where is the air/fuel mixture screw on the 400ex carb? Cant find it for the life of me. Thanks in advance!

One thing I see many people failing to tell others is there is a fuel screen in the inlet tube. What I don't understand is why some of these carbs have sizes on the Jets and some don't. My main has none. My pilot jet is a 37 which is smaller than most that speak of the jet size. I've been cleaned the carb a few times and it looks new and looked clean before I cleaned it. The bike runs good but if you gun it. It stumbles but it get off the gas it runs good. You just can't try to race or take off fast. I pushed on the accelerator pump rod and it squirts gas. Should I just up the pilot jet and main jet? Also the jet needle has no adjustments on it which I can't figure out why would a stock carburetor not have these adjustments. 2001 Honda 400EX. Only thing I see that's aftermarket is the big fat muffler..

First thing I would do is determine what you main jet size is. Quality jet kits will have the size of the jet engraved on them. Knock off (one size fits all) kits will not and it causes some serious issues. ALL main jets from the manufacture will have the size engraved. If you have put an exhaust on, you should rejet you machine. If more upgrades are done, I would suggest a dynojet kit and that will have needles and jets needed for your aftermarket upgrades. If your pilot is smaller then stock I would suggest getting back to where you need to be.

@@MidNebraskaMotorsports I just ordered a 6sigma kit but it doesn't come with a needle. Dynojet don't come with pilot Jets. That's what I find funny about these Dynojet and six sigma these kits should come with everything you need to upgrade your carburetor but they both be missing parts that you really need. But I did download the Dynojet literature for stage 1 stage 2 it says something totally different than six sigma so much for that trouble-free installation. You're going to tell you what exactly what size I put in when it don't really say all that Dynojet does tells you what jet to put in there if you're below 3,000 ft where to put the needle clip on your needle but it don't really speak about pilot Jets it just tells you where to put the mixture screw..

Mid Nebraska - I have 2 400ex fourtrax and it seems every season one wont idle right and one pisses fuel out when you turn the ballcock on. I'm tempted to just change brands of carburator as I feel a lot of carbs on hondas get jacked up when they sit. Also kinda like a choke pull on the handle bars. Rebuild ? ( if so what kit) or replace with a different brand carb? Best Jim

Does the rebuild kit brand matter ? What kit do you recommend?

I found the little black shock absorber looking gasket (.25" long about 1/8" diameter)/ bushing it's pictured in some of the rebuild kits, but you don't mention it, where does it go?

Hey man I need help my 400ex dosent seem to idle at all. I've cleaned my carb I even replace 38 slow with a 42 it helped a little, only thing is as I got to turn it over it idles with help of the throttle. (Not a smooth idle either) once I put down the choke it does

@@MidNebraskaMotorsports is the air fuel screw the screw that is right next to the choke? I know there’s a screw to slow
Or speed up the idle but the screw next to that that uses a flat head right next to the choke lever, is that the fuel/air?

I have a 2007 honda trx 400ex just gave the carb a good cleaning but cant figure out where the vacuum hose connects to. part number (95005-45001-50M ) It has a plastic Y piece close to the carb but got no clue where it goes on the other end. My stock petcock is not vacuum operated so where does it lead on the other end? It wasnt capped off. Cant remember taking it off when disassembling cant remember where it connected too...

if you need a video to show you how to get the carb off a 400ex... do not touch it... you're just gonna make your eventual mechanic bill that much higher, or lose more money cause now you're selling a non running bike that would've ran fine with a simple carb clean.
