If anyone has issues with disc's not going in or ejecting, even after using the manual eject button, I had those exact issues. Great guide! So, I know you asked to post about this in the comments.... So, I found a much easier way to attach the top cover during the final reassembly. I removed the face plate from the top cover. This made it so much easier to attach the ribbon cable. I attached the face plate to the console, pulled the face plate away just a bit and attached the top cover to the face plate and worked from front to back of the console. Much easier. Anyways, great video!! Hope this helps!
When putting Xbox back together an easier way to do it is that there are clips at top front of case you can separate the case into 2 pieces should make it easy to connect.

Heres a little tip for putting back the final case of the console: Remove the clips on the top of the case and put on the upper part on the Xbox first. Then you can connect the blue cable thing much easier and put it back together.
This video was a life saver omg. I followed a different video to clean it but they didn't show putting it back together. I didn't think it'd be that hard, just everything backwards, until I couldn't for the life of me clip the top piece back on. I was convinced I messed something up until this vid showing the clip on the corner and how difficult it is

Had to restrain myself from cleaning my brother's right away and will do so tomorrow. Probably with the aid of this very video! Great job on the video and I hope you have a lovely day.
I have never cleaned it and I'm now scared to but I'm hoping if I get the courage to it will make it download stuff faster but idk, might bring it to a professional since I don't think I have those screw drivers
Thanks Joey, I cleaned my Xbox one after 10 years with the help of ur video…😊. But i missed one of the screw to put back in the Xbox and I noticed it after fixing everything😂.
My xbox refused to play any disc, this helped me so much to clean it for the first time since 2016 when I bought it. After the clean it is working 100% again. Thank you so much.
I got it first try, I figured out for the ribbon part you can take apart the front piece from the top piece. Then you can just put the top on and the ribbon part is then only attached to the small piece. It makes everything so much easier in the end.😊
You think i should clean it inside before I sell it? When I play physical games on it very rarely the game crashes and the Xbox making a loud noice and you have to turn it off! Maybe cleaning it inside fixes the problem.
I'd agree that giving it a quick dusting on the inside might help this, just be careful around the motherboard as there are alot of fragile components :)
Tip from JoshFi like a 1 year ago "IF YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE PUTTING THE TOP BACK ON: take the front panel (the one with disk and power buttons) off from the top panel (one with the vent for the fan.) Put on the small front panel on FIRST and THEN put on the larger top panel. It may take some wiggling but it is FAR easier than just putting the whole thing on normally. HOPE THIS HELPED"
Thank you. This comment really helped cause trying to put the whole thing on at the same time was very frustrating and this helped me not wanna throw my console. Had been fighting with it for an hour before reading this.

Thanks for the help! Haven't given my Xbox a full cleaning yet because I'm waiting until I can get some air duster, but I dusted it a little bit and took it apart just because I like learning about electronics and how they're put together and stuff like that. Great video man, I subbed. Also though, does your Xbox run better after being cleaned? That's the main reason I decided to try cleaning it is because mine runs hot and is really slow now, but I have friends with an OG Xbox as well that runs just fine. Like I'm not exaggerating how slow mine is either, I have random freezes even in Minecraft.
Thankyou for taking the time to watch the video my dude! I'm not too sure if it improves performance, I imagine it could play a part in skipping frames during some games, like Minecraft. Let me know after you've played 😁
@@JoeyDoesTech I'm honestly not sure if it's a placebo but it's still skipping every now and then but seems to be doing it less than normal. It used to be like 3 second freezes every 10 seconds but it feels like it's happening less now, I guess when I play more I'll be able to tell and when I fully clean it maybe it'll make an even bigger difference. I have noticed it's quieter since I cleaned the fan a little bit though, it used to sound like a jet engine flying over a NASCAR race 😂
I was scared to try it , sausage fingers , but watching your video gave me the courage to dive in and do it . Long story short ,shes purring like a kitten again !! Thank you!!😅👍
For those of u struggling to get the case back on, unclip the front panel and re clip it once the ribbon cable is back in place - this vid glosses over that part but its very hard to do it the way this vid tells u to! Spent about an hour trying to get it on the way this vid tells u to and the other method took literally 10 seconds 🤣 Hope this helps :)
I wish I had read this in time. The previous owner of mine had broken all of the upper front clips and i hadnt noticed until i was about to put it back on. I just spent a couple hours trying to carefully do it the same way he did in the video and the clips kept just shattering one at a time.
putting the final main case piece back on is easy if you put the case vertical on with the front facing down and let gravity help you force it in and you can push down from the back. takes just a few seconds to get it in.
I'd take it apart again and have a look closely to see if anything has potentially come lose? Feel free to send me a message on Instagram/Twitter to let me know how you get on, and i'll see if I can help in any way!
Okay so I found the problem. My power supply pack immediately turns off when I plug it into my console. I tried resetting the power pack but every time I plug it into my console, the power brick shuts off. I don't know why it randomly decided to stop working. It's been working fine until I decided to clean the console. Maybe I did something wrong to the console? Maybe it's detecting some kind of problem that it's shutting off as a safety precaution? FML guess I gotta buy another power pack.
Ok so I need some help. I did this whole process but after when I tried to play all heck broke loose. Whenever I try to turn the xbox on, it turns itself off. It then proceeds to spam on and off. I need help and I don’t know what I did wrong!
This sounds like the ribbon cable at the front is a bit lose and keeps turning it on/off. I'd suggest taking it apart again slowly and seeing what the ribbons like :)
Honestly, my best advice is just to try and stay calm, and if need be take a break (whether that be a couple hours or overnight) just to reset :) Give it another go afterwards. Best bet is to push the case up rather than diagonal, that's the best way to describe it.
it is necessary to disassemble it only if there is overheating and the fan makes a loud noise, but in this case it is also advisable to replace the thermal paste, for many owners of the original xbox one for 7-8 years their consoles both worked quietly and will continue to work.
Thank you! Putting it back together was a real pain but I took a lunch break and it worked after that. Building a custom PC is much easier, those damn clips are a huge pain in the.. Anyways thank you for this awesome tutorial
i genuinely cant get the outside case back onto my xbox without there being a massive gap at the front where it starts to angle. What am i doing wrong? 😭
I found an easier way to reassemble the top. detach the top from the front then attach the front to the console then line up the top onto the console and it slides on to the console so much easier. one try.
The power button plate disconnects from the top and it makes it so much easier to put back on. Once top and bottom are on the front rolls right up into place without having to force anything super easy
Fun fact: a 13 year old has been able to do this. If you think you cant, you can! All i needed are alcohol wipes, and a screwdriver with a bunch of bits!
Absolutely helpful video man! Tip for putting the shell back on is removing the front cover from the shell. Place the front plate down first in position then attach the back portion of the shell followed by attaching shell to the front plate. Way easier that way! Thanks for the guide!

Thanks for the video. I was unable to get the shell back on perfect. Then again, this wasn't a professional job where presentation matters. As long as it's clean and snap on well enough. My original Xbox Day One thanks you! 8 years now, and finally clean.
How refreshing, second video on how to clean an xbox and both were Brits! Don't have a 17 year old yank telling me to smash the subscribe button, many thanks bud
Thankyou for watching dude :) Hopefully it went okay! 👌😃
Watched the video, opened up my Xbox and put it back together and… It worked! My Xbox is silent now :) thanks for the informative video! And to anybody reading this definitely watch the iFIXit video on how to put the top back on, it makes it a lot easier.
Thankyou for choosing to watch the video Lawlar! Good job :)
Hint: if you put a little bit of rubbing alcohol over the sticker you can use a knife to pull it up the warranty will be void but you get to keep the sticker on the xbox
When its gets to about a about a 45 degree angle, pull it slightly towards the back, slowly and firmly. Its going over something in the corner he mentions. The whole things just suddenly sits right.you will see bending and a perhaps be a bit concerned like I was when you see the plastic looking so unnaturally moved about. Thanks for the video👍🏼
This fucking comment right here. Life and time saver. I was struggling so much
Step one: buy gloves
The scariest part for me was the ribbon cable, but ty it’s working fine
Was ur xbox not working at all?? Or u just cleaned it for fun??
@@yOGlo Mine was functional, but it was loud, stuttered ALOT, and it was just kind of starting to show its age.

Just cleaned mine for the first time, thanks to your video! I've had it for 10years! 10 years of dust!
Gave it a very thorough clean! Hopefully it still works 👀
Thank you so much, my xbox had been shutting off recently and I didnt know if it was the power supply or if there was dust. Helped out a lot 🙏🏽💙
You are more than welcome. Thankyou for choosing to watching my video 😁😁😘😘
Haven’t cleaned this in 7 years ! It’s crazy to think about but I’m about to clean it out
How did it go David?
Does it work better
Heres a little tip for putting back the final case of the console: Remove the clips on the top of the case and put on the upper part on the Xbox first.
Then you can connect the blue cable thing much easier and put it back together.
Agreed :)
Im so pissed i didny see this earlier omfg i just spent 30 minutes doing that fucking stupid ribbon and prob broke ot
This video was a life saver omg. I followed a different video to clean it but they didn't show putting it back together. I didn't think it'd be that hard, just everything backwards, until I couldn't for the life of me clip the top piece back on. I was convinced I messed something up until this vid showing the clip on the corner and how difficult it is
Glad it helped :)
I actually got this all on my first try! Took an hour and a half to finish but we did it! Thank you so much for this video, bless🙏
Yooo good job my guy. Thankyou for the kind words 👌👌
By some miracle it fit together so well I was confused that anyone would have difficulty. Unfortunately it didn't solve my particular issue but the cleaning was fun enough. Had to restrain myself from cleaning my brother's right away and will do so tomorrow. Probably with the aid of this very video! Great job on the video and I hope you have a lovely day.
Aye thankyou so much! Really appreciate the kind words. At least like you said, you now get practice doing it.
I was pretty nervous to even take the thing apart. But your video made a huge difference! Thank you, sir.
On the last piece take the front piece apart from the top piece and put the top piece on first then put the front piece back on the top piece
Hey, I did everything in the video and blew everything off with air and brushed it with a soft detail brush and it won’t boot up what’d I do wrong
Please reply asap
I think maybe check the ribbon connector cable at the front, the blue one, and just make sure it's been put back properly :)
I have never cleaned it and I'm now scared to but I'm hoping if I get the courage to it will make it download stuff faster but idk, might bring it to a professional since I don't think I have those screw drivers
It's better to be safe than sorry Rizzo. If you're not confident in doing it, I would leave it to a professional.
I’ve had my Xbox since I was 14 or so I’m 21 now this is the first time I cleaned my Xbox and this helped so much
Good to hear pal :)
Thank YOU. Was definitely intimidated at first but your video really helped make it simple.
You're welcome 😁
I’m having trouble with that Conner when your putting the shell back on any advice?
There should be a video in the top comment and description helping you :)
Gonna be honest I palmed my Xbox to close it more times than I would have liked to
Thanks Joey, I cleaned my Xbox one after 10 years with the help of ur video…😊. But i missed one of the screw to put back in the Xbox and I noticed it after fixing everything😂.
My xbox refused to play any disc, this helped me so much to clean it for the first time since 2016 when I bought it. After the clean it is working 100% again. Thank you so much.
He threw fifa!!! Lol good job
I got it first try, I figured out for the ribbon part you can take apart the front piece from the top piece. Then you can just put the top on and the ribbon part is then only attached to the small piece. It makes everything so much easier in the end.😊
LIFESAVER
For those struggling to put the top case back, just remove the front case and put it first after that put the top panel, easy peasy😎
Facts :) There is a link in the top comment showing this as well :) Thanks!
Thanks!
Tip from JoshFi like a 1 year ago
"IF YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE PUTTING THE TOP BACK ON:
take the front panel (the one with disk and power buttons) off from the top panel (one with the vent for the fan.) Put on the small front panel on FIRST and THEN put on the larger top panel. It may take some wiggling but it is FAR easier than just putting the whole thing on normally. HOPE THIS HELPED"
There’s a video in the description for this :)
Thank you. This comment really helped cause trying to put the whole thing on at the same time was very frustrating and this helped me not wanna throw my console. Had been fighting with it for an hour before reading this.
Just used your video to clean my Xbox One for the first time, never did it before and it is about as old as when it came out! I even got the case to snap on perfectly first try. : D
Thank you for making the video, the few others I found were a bit hard to follow to be honest, I can see why this is your most popular video! (I think? I'm not good with tech, or UA-cam, or the internet in general... haha)
For people who are struggling to put the top shell back on at the end, please click on this video and skip to around the 5 minute mark. Sorry that my explanation/example wasn't that good, I'll work on this next time! 😁😁 (PLEASE LIKE THIS COMMENT SO PEOPLE CAN SEE)

Omg thank you I took my husband's xbox apart to clean it and couldn't figure out how to get the shell back on...after seeing the force you used I did the same and it finally clicked after an hour and a half trying to figure it out...he would have been so mad
Ayeee nice :) good job
"Let me know if you get it the first time..." - thought to myself how hard could it be, turns out 30 minutes later when it finally popped in place that was the most satisfying and scary case to anything I've ever closed. So many emotions... 🤣🤣🤣
Ayeee good job though! Happy you got it cleaned 😁
this video shows you how to almost break your case. Take the front cover off first. You should never have to force a part the way he does. Skips a 10 second step to cause potential breaks. Just take the front cover off next time
@@darsinge3612 are you talking about putting the case back together afterwards? If so theres a comment with a much better video explaining how to do it that I've linked
Does it clean the disc receiver as well?
By any chance, can the hoover gonna damage it if I use it?
It was so cool to take apart my console and it got a much needed cleaning. Unfortunately now my power button does not work but that’s what a controller is for 🤙.
Thank you for the awesome guide!
I love your optimism Griffin! Great job in getting it cleaned. Glad I could help (Sorry about the ribbon!)
This is my second time doing this. The sencer is not working and I still have the same problem. I also used a can of aur this time(the xbox turns on but turns off by itself without hitting the big green screen on the television)
It's easier to just separate the top and front panel than to try and put the whole thing back on together. Got it on the first try that way.
Dude I love you. I was about to break stuff.
Omg thank you so much I was getting really worked up about it. Thx
Cleaned my Xbox for the first time in 5 years thank you 👍
I got up the mother board part since I didnt have the screw... so I had to put everything back on and the ribbon I got to say was the hardest for me but I will for sure use this video in the future when I got the right sized screw
Did you manage to give it a bit of a clean getting up to the motherboard part? If so good job :)
Thanks for watching and good luck when you attempt it again!
@@JoeyDoesTech Sadly no since i still dont have the screw but im looking into it. Sorry for the really late response
@@JoeyDoesTech I told myself ill just wait till i have the right sized screw driver
After looking at your channel, you have just the type of content I'm interested in learning about, awesome.
Thankyou for taking the time to watch the video my dude! I'm not too sure if it improves performance, I imagine it could play a part in skipping frames during some games, like Minecraft. Let me know after you've played 😁
@@RealShaggy Ah amazing, well hopefully you enjoy! Feel free to join the Discord server in the description 😁👌
Good show, got it back together with a bit of finagling on the 1st shot!
Good stuff Brandon :)
I was scared to try it , sausage fingers , but watching your video gave me the courage to dive in and do it . Long story short ,shes purring like a kitten again !! Thank you!!😅👍
Thanks, this really helped, it was my first time ever cleaning a console. Can you do an Xbox 360 cleaning as well, please
More than happy to help :) I don't own a 360 currently, but I might buy one :D
For the love of god thank youuuuuuuuu
@@JDM4TW i spent way too long trying to do it the way this vid says to, glad my comment helped ahahahaha

The first of the two prongs that hold the clips you pull over to get the shell back on. I just broke it off and it makes putting back on easy
i need oppen him , but i dont know ...i dont need broken him😪😂
thank you for video dude 💕😘
Did you manage to give it a good clean? :)
putting the final main case piece back on is easy if you put the case vertical on with the front facing down and let gravity help you force it in and you can push down from the back. takes just a few seconds to get it in.
I did everything you did and when I connect my xbox it didn’t want to turn on
I'd take it apart again and have a look closely to see if anything has potentially come lose? Feel free to send me a message on Instagram/Twitter to let me know how you get on, and i'll see if I can help in any way!
@@JoeyDoesTech my Xbox is good now thanks
@@geomendez1045 What fixed it? Mine isn't turning on. I've disassembled it 2 more times already. Everything looks fine..
Pov u watch this video and havent clean it in a decade like me
Thank you so much ive never cleaned it and u explained it really well
Glad I could I help! Thankyou for the feedback :)
Do you own a PS4 and would you like to see one for that? :)
@@JoeyDoesTech I did this and it works again ty so much
This is a great help but it seems like Microsoft has gone a long way to my cleaning the Xbox harder.

Ayee you done it though :D

You are more than welcome, thankyou for leaving a comment it means a lot 😁😁
I’ve been trying for a hour to get my case back on and I can’t I’m getting really mad plz help me
Honestly, my best advice is just to try and stay calm, and if need be take a break (whether that be a couple hours or overnight) just to reset :)
Give it another go afterwards.
No worries dude! Thankyou for choosing to watch it :)
Yeah taking a break is exactly what I done...
i genuinely cant get the outside case back onto my xbox without there being a massive gap at the front where it starts to angle.
What am i doing wrong? 😭
Did u find out??
thankfully yeah managed to take the front away from the whole case with a bit of help. omd it was so frustrating 😂@@dominicktv4415
I found an easier way to reassemble the top. detach the top from the front then attach the front to the console then line up the top onto the console and it slides on to the console so much easier. one try.
Thank you so much me and my dad were having so much trouble and I found your comment and did it easily 😊
I just broke my whole Xbox I can’t get the front clip back on please help
Hmmn I'm surprised I haven't found a video of someone using a left blower vs opening it up. Ppl are adventurous
I didn't even think of it to be honest!
The power button plate disconnects from the top and it makes it so much easier to put back on. Once top and bottom are on the front rolls right up into place without having to force anything super easy
You're 100%. I have the video for it in the top comment :)
