      To me, who doesn't understand the concept of a travel nurse, is it something like a freelance nurse, or working under some personal agency that's selling her by demand to hospitals? The only travel nurse in my country is when the nurse travels to patients, mostly to immobile old people, to provide meds etc.

      @@tomasprochazka6198 a travel nurse in the US typically travels to work for a facility in another city and/or state under an agency contract. Contracts can be between 4-26weeks.....most common are 13-week contracts. Nurses who go to patients' houses to provide care are called Home Health Nurses.

    Really only way to make real good money in nursing is travel nursing but only handful of people have situation where they can up and leave depending on their spouse and kids situation. Fixing staff nurse pay as opposed to paying temp nurses to come in and out would fix a lot of problems. I was nurse and realized so many other jobs pay same or more and no degree required . Currently an insurance adjuster and pay is between a staff nurse and travel nurse. Only mandatory thing would be a High school diploma to start.

    • @AO-kr9kd
      @AO-kr9kd 6 місяців тому +1

      No. Travel is not the "only way" to make money in nursing. Also no one is telling you to get up and leave; that is what worked for them, so find what works for you. I've seen some people venture to project management, informatics, legal consulting, starting a nursing planners/notes business, etc. Just because you couldn't find a way to make more, doesn't give you the right to make blanket statements like that.

    • @nickgallegos430
      @nickgallegos430 6 місяців тому +2

      @@AO-kr9kd speaking in generalities what I said is 100% true. The positions you mentioned generally are not for new nurses and would be considered more of a niche. Where as a new grad nurse could apply for one of these travel jobs and make $2500 dollars a week. Most of those other positions will NOT pay that

    • @19erickpana
      @19erickpana 5 місяців тому

      @nickgallegos430 totally agree with what you said above. Travel nursing is not for everyone. There are mostly cons and about the only pro to it is that you can make about 500 to 2k a week more but it's usually just about 500 a week more. The other cons are not usually talked about, but floating every shift is not good, it gets old really quickly, also, you might get the worst assignments every shift, not knowing anyone on the units and therefore not getting the help that you normally would from your peers, having to live out of your suit case, paying premium prices for rent because you're only staying in one place for about 3 months, having to eat out a lot because you're likely not going to have pots, pans and other stuff to cook your meals, being away from friends and family, and I can go on. The bottom line is, travel nursing is not for everyone, and even if it is today, it's not a long-term solution to making more. Also, all the other niches in nursing, like informatics, case management, leadership, and more, are for more seasoned nurses and they come with so much bs. I think that nursing is a great profession for the simple reason that, as long as you don't do anything stupid, you will ALWAYS have a job and the pay is decent, not great, just a bit above average, and the last thing is, that there is a lot of lateral movement that can happen after about 2 to 3 years in it.

      It’s not fair to compare two different economies (USA vs. Israel) as there are several differences to take into account. Remember, nurses roles and responsibilities vary by country. In the US nurses have a lot of responsibilities. Even then, the avg nurse salary in the US is around $42k - $130k depending on the state and years of experience. Nurses that have a graduate level practitioner degree (ie. a nurse practitioner) can make $100k - $230k on avg. This is more than deserved for the work that they’re doing.
