Kat, thank you so much for this video! I loved ur last one on scuba diving and this one inspires me even more! I'm taking my open water course in a few months and hope my journey last far long after that that! I am 18 now and someday, it is my goal to be a scuba instructor. I love the ocean so much and my theatre background has made me as sociable as can be. (Not to brag, let's just say I know how to entertain people!) I feel that its such a perfect fit especially since one of my biggest goals in life it to give purpose to others and make people happy! It sounds like a lot of work and the process just makes me even more enticed! Keep up it with the great content!!
That's so fantastic!!! Being good with people is an absolute must, and being able to voice it is extremely important!!! You're going to be great. How's the progress going? Done your next course?
Jumping off the boat too early is a great example! Ive had that a few times when im still helping some students get kitted up and one decides to just jump in.
Yes yes yes! I thank you for posting this video! I have been wondering about going into the path of a dive instructor. Post more videos cause I have lots of questions!
I wanted to become a marine biologist I have always loved the water and from a young age I was chucked in at about age 4 and learned to swim Went on to get a few swim medals Did my very first try dive on a family holiday as a teen and loved it so much that I actually went back 5 times that same holiday to do more I would have stayed there to be qualified if I could have (I should have tbh) I am a qualified open water diver and plan to become an instructor Hope one day I can Is age a factor I'm 41
thanks for this video. it is very informative. my dream job is actually dive instructor and i definitely want to reach that. now i have the advanced open water but I will do the rescue diver soon :)
Hi Katt I am a 18 year old German and I am currently in Australia. I will start with my instructor course in 3 weeks and my question is how difficult is the theoretical exam ?
This was so informative! I’ve never been scuba diving but I imagine to be so much fun! My dream job is to make youtube full time, not close yet, but one day 😊
thanks for this helpful video, being a former combat diver with over 500 dives and a PADI rescue diver with 30 dives, does it count if I have logged dives out of PADI to be a PADI dive master ?
Oldrich Andrysek usually there is a pretty large number of instructors, and a much smaller demand. Therefore, naturally, the pay we get isnt very high. You become an instructor because you love the ocean and sharing it, not to make moneh :)
In your video in this video in the camera frame, divers who do not have neutral buoyancy and they fall down. ... One girl lowers her back on the rocks - this suggests that these people did not pick up the right cargo for the immersion and are very overloaded.
Idk where I dive (England) 100 dives can make you very experienced since the conditions are very bad so you learn quicker better and faster since you adapt to bad weather better than people who dive in places like the Caribbean where you haven’t even seen vis like I have (less than a metre)
Henry Crick - that may make you a fairly experienced diver, but not an experienced instructor. Diving is one thing, teaching diving skills and knowledge is something else. Up to to the individual I suppose but I would prefer to learn off more experienced instructors. I’ve done over 150 dives all over the world in many different conditions, OW in the UK and still dive in the UK in a dry suit and I’ve only just decided to do my DMC about 2 months ago despite being a fairly decent diver. I don’t believe accelerating an IDC in a few weeks, as some resorts claim, is ideal at all. IMO of course.
You are very correct. But it also depends largely on the individual. The 100 dives I hahd were over 6 years in places including : Finland, Egypt, Australia, Thailand. Through growing up diving and diving in many different conditions and situations my instructors believed I had sufficient experience to continue. I do not advise for anyone to do a 0-100 zero to hero course to go from nothing to instructor! You are very right that it is something that should take a long time and I applaud you for taking the time until you were ready

That's why briefings are so important. However... Some people just don't listen haha if it's good conditions though, it's okay.

I am a 18 year old German and I am currently in Australia. I will start with my instructor course in 3 weeks and my question is how difficult is the theoretical exam ?
I'll be publishing a video all about it soon;
Hi Katt, do you think there is an age when it is no longer viable to have a career as a dive instructor?
Do not think so! I worked with someone who started teaching after 60+
You're awesome, I'd love to go to your class!
Conscious Commitment thank you!!! If youre in this part of the world, come check it out
This was so informative!

Yes, that is not a problem! Just make sure to bring along your dive log where you have logged your other dives. It needs to be any dives :)
Tweed river in the photo great place to dive
Yeah its good fun!! I still have to go on a day with great visibility
Like and supporting your channel all the time 👍🏻
Is swimming required?
Yes, you certainly need to know how to swim.
Interesting...you say you do not get rich as a dive instructor...i can guess why...tell us more!
Oldrich Andrysek usually there is a pretty large number of instructors, and a much smaller demand. Therefore, naturally, the pay we get isnt very high. You become an instructor because you love the ocean and sharing it, not to make moneh :)
Pay is sh.t, conditions appalling stress very high, I can go on !!!
Tell us more how you learned five languages.

Yes that is possible. What moment you referring to?
Great
That's cool 😎
Up to 8 complete novice trainees for one instructor? That does not feel safe...
oh i m so amazing
Diving instructor at 18... hmmmm.... ok
100 dives doesn’t make you experienced at all!

Wow, you started diving at the age of 12, so lucky. Some people are just born to teach, I guess you’re just one of those people Katt and good for you
@@elmo319 I'm very fortunate that my parents supported my passion from and early age. They allowed me to travel and expand my experiences
I found :)
😘
