Really enjoyed your video, you are a great ambassador to the first time diver wanting to consider being an Open Water Certified PADI diver. Having taken part in a 2 day (4 dive) intro to diving course in the USVI St. John (Low Key Watersports), your video reminds me of the fantastic job their team did as well, in addition to recognizing how delicate our coral and underwater friends are and needing our help. Thank you for taking the time to post this video. Great Job! Mike M. Glendale, Arizona
Glad to know shouldn’t expect skills the whole time for the open water dives... already signed up for advanced too glad you recommended the advanced following basic
This was very informative. I've worked at a premier dive resort in Fiji since 2016 and have not been certified yet, but finally doing the course end of this month. I'll be doing SSI, there is 6 sections rather than 5. Thank you for the brief heads up!
Congratulations! That's so exciting. Fiji is amazing, always been my dream to dive there. Let me know if you have any other questions! Always happy to help
I learnt to dive a number of years ago in the UK, After doing the 4 Open Water dives I have only ever dived once again again that was for about 10 mins. I was assured by my instructor and my wife that it would be a great experience. My wife had been qualified for years so I thought it was about time I qualified as well. I hated the whole thing if I hadn't spent so much money on the training and kit I would have stopped after the first confined water dive but no I carried on. It actually took me 6 months to get qualified.
Hello Katt. Had my Snorkeling Class on July 31. The dive shop was also running a Scuba Class at the time. So I was able to watch some of it in person. FUN 2 hour Lesson!!
I took a beginners crash course when we went to Costa Maya and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was beautiful and amazing so much I'm ready to do it again and eventually get certified. Your video lets me know what to expect when doing so. I no way feel that this is "Nothing to it", I know the danger will always be there. We are hoping to do another cruise next year and would like to be ready by then, thank you so much for making this video it helps me to achieve my goal of diving!
thank you katt!!! i will be going for the open water course for this year 'probably' and i like your video so much because most of your videos are informative
I stumbled across your videos somehow. Your voice is so soothing I saw almost all the videos. Now I signed up for scuba diving course which I never had any intentions before.
I went on a dive in the Caymen islands for an excursion from a cruise and it was awesome. Years down the road i have decided finally to get my certification which i will do next month, only thing is i suck at math and worried about that. If i can get past that then it will be smooth sailing. Your video was great. Thanks for the help.
Hey!:) I am doing my Open Water Course right now on Bali and it has been amazing so far!! I love diving so much, and I learned all the skills really quickly and feel comfortable in the water. The only thing I have problems with is equalising... I don’t know why, but I just have such a hard time doing it, and my instructor only taught me the method where you pinch your nose and blow against it, but that doesn’t work for me at all:( I have been doing it by swallowing but because the compressed air is so dry I can’t always do it. I asked him for other methods but he couldn’t quite help me, do you maybe have some tips and tricks? And what’s the method you usually use? Sending you much love, your channel is amazing❤️
Hi! Always remember to just take your time. My diving instructors would have to take me down ten minutes before everyone else because I couldn't Equalize. Swallowing, wiggling your jaw, yawning, putting your head from side to side or a combination of all of these is what you can do to help you. Make sure to Equalize far before you feel any discomfort!

@@jaxsongawesome2947 yeah. Asked a few shops and they still have it open. Now I got to figure out which one to go to. I actually disagree with the sea sickness part. I get seasick easily, but it actually makes me want to go in the water more. Whenever we go out diving and I get seasick, I’m always like ‘Can info in the water already’ because going in the water takes away my sea sickness.
I finished my Discovery Dive a few weeks ago. I never thought of continuing until I started watching your videos and you inspired me. I finished my first Open Water Course session and went as deep as 4.5 meters, however, I had some sharp pain in my ears. I was told by the instructor to hold my nose and breath out which helped. Saying that, I went online to research the topic and a lot of the articles advice that I stop diving completely, since it would lead to a ruptured eardrum. What's your experience on this and have you found a way for people to continue diving or would you say I should stop?
You have to equalise while diving, yes you shouldn't push it and if it doesnt work you are meant to ascend a little bit and try again. If you force it, then you can rupture your eardrum. However if you take your time, and equalise before you experience any pain, then it will be all good!
