Great tutorial Drew... Another thing to do is you could use the "gate range" funtion as you can set the threshold and the range tells the gate how much of the level to turn down by ...ie: -9dB. Works a treat, and on any channel too. 😊
It's good to hear you confirm that the auto mixer is POST fader. However, seeing a channel meter bouncing in the Autmixer view while using the Editor app, and the channel is down, is not a convincing argument that the auto mixer is post-fader. If it were, I shouldn't be seeing any meter activity in the automixer settings when the fader is down (in this case, using Midas 32 editor on a Macbook pro
Hi Drew. I love your tutorials. I have a church that is a very lively space with an ambo mic, cantor mic and a wireless mic for the pastor. I can see the benefit for automix for those three mics. But how would I isolate those mics from the vocal mics on channels 9-16? The audio from vocal mics get into two of the first three mics, via room reflection. The mixer is usually unattended is the reason for the question.
i was hoping if you could make a video on how to record live stream vocals and instruments in the computer using Cubase 5 Software and putting it back to the mixer to play it again and again.
that's seems what i looked for in x-32, i found that feature in bose processors, called gain-sharing amm control. that can be very useful in confrences
Difference is multiple channels could activate their gates at the same time, and once the threshold level is set, it stays static. Automix is dynamically muting the "less loud" channels no matter the absolute volume level. It ensures only one channel is active. Perfect for spoken word situations.
It’s possible that in some situations using only noise gates would be preferred. Such as if 2 hosts are intentionally speaking at the same time (or singing, or quickly bantering back and forth and into each other’s phrases). I look forward to trying the auto mix feature in this scenario to hear how it behaves. Thank you for this helpful tutorial!
My table surprised me recently. After updating the software, on one of the next units, it turned up the volume on its own. It was channel 38 linked to 37, and it was not a router hack, because of the two linked ones, only one fader went up. Could this be "Revolt of the Machines"? ;) - google translate from polish...
Let's say you had mics on 25-32 like your example. Could you just change the input routing via user settings or do you have to physically change the inputs to 1- 8?
Automix is only available on the first 8 channels on the console. You an use the routing menus so send any input you want into, for example channel 1, but you can't "move" the automix feature to channels 25-32. Does that make sense? In this video I think Drew has card inputs feeding the first 3 channels. Also, you can see that there's nothing plugged into the local XLR inputs on the back of the console in his video. And yeah, the first time I went to use this feature I had to move all of my wireless headset mics from channels 9 - 16 to 1 - 8 :)
Hi Drew, We have a multi-lingual church. We normally have a Speaker, an interpreter and a bible reader on the platform. Can the Automixer be used in this scenario please?
Thanks for the info. This could have been a 2 minute video if you didn't repeat yourself so much. Also, it would have been nice if you would have said what the auto mixer actually does at the beginning of the video. I'll try it out though.
Drew, just for fun you should do a demonstration of auto mixer with several tracks of singing vocals to show how it would sound.
I 100% agree with this comment.

Great to see X32 video again. I have started thinking that you sold it and switched to Flow 8 😁
A video detailing this feature on the Wing would be helpful for some as well!
This is like Alex on Autos but for AV gear. Awesome job.
Good comparison!
Would love to see you go over this for the Behringer Wing
Solid video Drew.

Very thoughtful. Thank you Drew
Thanks drew once again
Great, thanks for the work
Awesome can you please explain levels, mic types,eq,compression and other settings as this auto mix applies. Thanks in advance.
God bless you Sir! And it been a while this is John paul

So you still set the levels on the faders, and this sorta "ducks" the other mics if they aren't being used?

thanks for info:) great job all the time! br from Austria :)
Hi Drew I have a question why is it that only the first 8 channels only have the automix and not all of the channels on the X32?
Instead of changing the weighting level, can you achieve the same result by adjusting the channel fader level instead?
wouldn't using Gates do the same thing? (besides the priority). Would be nice to hear a comparison. Great videos as always :)

It sounds like a combination of a gate + side chain compression

Wondering the same

I’m assuming this works with soft patching correct?
Can you use the automixer for a live streaming event straight to your online bus ?
sir its possible to use channel 9 to 16 for auto mix and can you explain it how to do it thanks for your response

Can you do a video on using it on live vocal just curious
Does the automix do anything more than just gating the channels?
Kind of a 'side-chain' compression???
Can this be activated or deactivated in a snippet?
спасибо
Multi-eople 😸😸
I don't understand WHY Behringer only has this feature on the first 8 channels. Very Frustrating.
