  • The InJapan team has been invited to document a collaboration event of a long time Ikebana teacher and Master Kiln Craftsman from the heart of Kanagawa, held at Setoyashiki, the residence of the Seto family, who was a master in the Edo period.
Ikebana is the art of flower arranging in Japan, using blossoms, branches, leaves, and stems as the main materials for this beautiful artmaking. In contrast to the western style flower arranging of placing flowers in a vase, ikebana aims to bring out the inner qualities of flowers and other live materials and express emotion.
Ikebana looks simple at first sight with the minimalism in the number of branches and flowers. However, sophistication and elegance are all about the process. A finished Ikebana is a balanced combination of the surrounding environment and the message you want to send to the world.
