I listen to metal for like 23 years now, and while they did make some "teenage sweetheart" rock songs, you can hear a lot of "metal roots" in their music - especially riffs. In general it reminds me a lot of 90's metal scene and since I've discovered them a few months ago I feel extremely refreshed, as I was sure Americans can't do rock and metal anymore ;).

Jesus Christ! This version wasn't created to combat Lady Gaga's version. It wasn't designed to be thought of as "better" or "worse" than the original. Can people get this into their heads? If someone's saying they like Halestorm's version better, that doesn't mean they're "against" the original. Hell, Halestorm must have liked the Lady Gaga version since they bothered to cover it.
