Ex fly guide here.. dude, YES!!! Come to the dark side 😈 Side note, you were a big inspiration for me to buy my first boat, fly fishing for bass/crappie/musky is the program now 👌🏻 super hyped to see you mix it up dude, keep putting in the work!!! Been chasing crappie with the fly mainly for a few years now and it’s a little sad to see my dirty little trick going public 😅 stay blessed LFG! 🇺🇸
It’s amazing to see you moving over into fly fishing. I’ve been fly fishing for several years, but I just got serious about it and started nymphing a little over a year ago. I love chasing trout on small streams here in southern West Virginia.
@@ZackHaynie no, I currently don’t. I have a buddy that makes them and usually just buy them off of him. I would like to one day, whenever I finish college and have more time
Fly rods aren’t made for boat flips bro!! 😱🤣 absolutely loved this, fav video by a mile!!! Picked up a fly rod and didn’t touch a spinning rod for almost a decade., it’s just downright lethal on high pressure water..plus those fly eats just hit different 🤌🏻 Seriously tho man, stoked to see you incorporating the fly rod, would love to see you chuck some giant streamers for big fall bass/muskies 🤘🏻
So, I live in Colorado and I use a float and a pistol Pete for catching crappie. But, yeah I hope you enjoy your time out here in Colorado man! Would love to get together and do some fishing out here if you're looking to find something. Not a guide or anything but I can find a bunch of different species and places. Let me know if you're interested! I learned a lot bluegill and green sunfish fishing back home. Just a country boy that moved out here. Much love LFG!
Great idea! A fly that kills trout and fast catching panfish is the pistol pete We use a clear bubble and spin gear, but would be interested on the nymph method.
Not sure what area of Colorado you’re heading to but you should really check out Spinney Mountain Reservoir if you want big trout. Last year I caught a 26” cutbow from shore throwing a 4” tube jig. I’m heading there this Sunday to chase giant pike.
I tie flies and make nymphs all winter (Canada), usually make a dozen every morning as I drink my coffee before breakfast. I run 4 vices to speed things up. I only use Cortland line. 32 years fly fishing, never found a better manufacturer of any type of fly line. It’s expensive, but extremely worth it. Especially when you’re using 1000$ G. Loomis rods.
Great fly rod video and love the plant intro, lol. Just got back from Colorado and had some good luck in the mountains on the fly last week. Crappie application makes total sense.
Absolute favorite way to fly fish is euro nymph setup. Very versatile. If your interested in a really thin main line look at opst Lazar line. It's a thin diameter slick monofilament running line. And if your fishing lakes like you did in your video try some balanced leech flies. The weight of the fly sticks out past the tie in point of the fly and they "balance" in the water and flutter in the current.
It’s still not nearly as fun as dry fly or streamer salmon and trout fishing. I have a dozen flu rods of all types, but I always go back to a 5wt or 8wt (depending on species) G Loomis and dry flies.
Czech nymphing! Work on the roll cast if you are planning on nymphing, it will save a lot of wear and tear on your arm out on the river. Keep the fly line under your index finger on the casting hand. When the fish strikes, pinch the line with your finger and raise your rod straight up in the air...that would be called "trout set"...you can also do a "strip set" by pulling the line with your off hand and swinging the rod to the side when the fish strikes...that is better for bass, redfish, saltwater etc,
I like to use the clear thingamabobber indicators. I figure it looks like a bubble on the water as opposed to something in a color the fish are not used to seeing. Because it looks more natural, it is easier to lose track of your indicator though.
Missouri fly fishing for smallies is a ton of fun. Decent trout streams scattered about also if you like catching stocked fish. I’d take the smallies though all day IMO.
The North Fork of the White River in the Missouri Ozarks is a great river...wild rainbows and big browns. The Frying Pan and Roaring Fork river are 2 of my favorites near Aspen-Snowmass, CO.
Jon b makes my favorite videos with the amazing editing lojo & ayo, norm makes grabbing entertaining content but you my man make the most wholesome knowledgeable content witch to me beats all I’ve watched all your videos on your channel from hunting to fishing catching backyard predators it all amazes me keep going lfg you are the dangle master and we all learn from you!
Do a beginners fly fishing set up and how to use it my great grandad loved fly fishing but passed before he was ever able to teach me veteran passed at 93 yrs old
I’d love to take you out in Colorado and teach you and whoever you want to bring for free! I’m not a guide but have caught plenty of big fish on the fly
So this is a specific style of nymph fishing called euro nymphing. Definitely a very productive way to fly fish but is not the only way to throw a nymph.
i literally jut got done tying some flies up....then i click on here and see its fly fishing...lol...im in wyoming and would love to see you out here and would love to tie you some flies and send you
300 is cheap for a rod... ?! I only use h2O express since its all i can afford 60$ jigging rod is my go to when its hot for shore fishing. I wish I could fish on a boat too, I have only ever fished off a boat 2x with peoples I met while fishing a local lake (lake georgetown) Tx and we caught like 2 small fish each it sucked hahah.
I'm a bank fisherman too! Let someone else deal with ALL the headaches of being a boat owner. Lots of wildlife and plants to enjoy while fishing from shore.
that ain't fly fishing. you're just jigging under a livescope with a fly rod. this technique has been around for ages and very well know by crappie fisherman. never heard any of them call it fly fishing either, this is far from nymphing.

I've been seeing em eat bugs on the surface at night, you ever catch em at night on top water??
It’s amazing to see you moving over into fly fishing. I’ve been fly fishing for several years, but I just got serious about it and started nymphing a little over a year ago. I love chasing trout on small streams here in southern West Virginia.

You miss out on so many fish by fly fishing. It's fun but I could never fully switch to fly fishing.
“Mountain backgrounds and big browns!” Sounds awesome. Great video
I've been using my 4 weight St Croix fly rod to nymph for crappie fishing for 25 years!
Fly rods aren’t made for boat flips bro!! 😱🤣

Yessss the new Telesin Neck Mounts are awesome.... really comfy.

*waves* lived here in Colorado all my life, you're gonna have a blast. I will have to try this on the crappie here.
Before long crappie rods were a thing, this is what we used paired with a triggerspin Zebco. Dad still uses one.
Iv'e been waiting for this. Once you crossed over to the fly-fishing it's hard to go back. Get yourself a 6 or 7 weight and go for bass.
LFG's gonna become a Nymph (no O) maniac 🤣👍
To quote Marling Baits, "It's official, crappie like duck feather jigs! " 😂
Cannot wait for Colorado trip with the family. Always a good videos...
Fly fishing is the only form of fishing I havent tried. Its so much info.
I tie flies and make nymphs all winter (Canada), usually make a dozen every morning as I drink my coffee before breakfast. I run 4 vices to speed things up.

Cool lizard. Great looking method!! Can't wait for camping!!
Ive been waiting for a video like this! We dont have the cold mountain water or trout here, ive been waiting to see a video on crappie fly fishing
I had to reread that…first time thought I read naked nympho fishing?!😂 I was like…whaaa???
Fly fishing is one of my all time favorite methods man. Good luck on your trip! Can't really sit to watch the vids!
Yes! Come to Tulsa and fly fish!

I'm a simple man, i see an LFG notification, i click!!👍
Love the Colorado trips.
Awesome set up,happy ⛺!
JO JO IN VT 💞
I have an Okuma steelhead rod i use alot for crappie to get the lightweight with extra length for reaching...very similar to this
I like to use the clear thingamabobber indicators. I figure it looks like a bubble on the water as opposed to something in a color the fish are not used to seeing. Because it looks more natural, it is easier to lose track of your indicator though.
Interesting style of fishing! Can't wait to see the camping vids
Love your videos! 👊
Great vid, love the fly fishing content. I'm trying to get better at this myself.
The perfect video for me because I’m trying to get into fly fishing always looked so fun for me , also planning a trip to either Missouri or Colorado

Also 3/4wt fly rods aren’t meant to cast those big jigs but if it works whose to argue. Just watch out you don’t snap your rod.
Yup. Supposed to be following currents with the tip and sinking nymphs, not jigs.
But to be fair, he’s using a fairly cheap rod, I doubt he cares.
As always great content.
Love the new camera
That’s my favorite way to catch crappie on a fly rod with a hopper in Colorado around July
You might try those new Dice (cube) type funky baits on that rig
Look at all that weed LFG has on the first shot!!!! Shot dang!!!
One thing I have always wanted to try is throwing dry flys at crappie hitting top water.
Interesting looking plants on the intro lol

In Arizona those lizards are called Desert Spiny Lizards.
Thanks for the great content and vary informative
I thought your okra was something else! I had to start the video over twice 😂
Very cool indeed. 😎
What's the plant on the intro of the video LFG... is that some Texas ditch weed?
Opening scene 😂 🪴
Prospecting for Trout by Tom Rosenbower is good for river fishing.
Get The Orvis Guide to Stillwater Fishing by Phil Rowley. Awesome book!!
Why are you throwing those crappie back. Thats a Sin.....
And the new camera was cool. Great video for sure.
I’d love to take you out in Colorado and teach you and whoever you want to bring for free! I’m not a guide but have caught plenty of big fish on the fly
You need to give mop flies a try for crappie.
Imagine your wife asking where you were all evening and you replying that u were naked nymphing down at the river. 😂
If Googan puts out a fly rod and or reel. I’ll be one of the first in line.
I hope the buddy you camping with is the infamous and mia Outlaw
Just when you think he’s done it all, LFG comin in on the fly 💪🏼💪🏼
I've had a lot of luck fishing for crappe like that. I also like really small black bead headed wooly buggers, like size 14-16.
So this is a specific style of nymph fishing called euro nymphing. Definitely a very productive way to fly fish but is not the only way to throw a nymph.
Really isn’t, euro nymphing doesn’t use jigs. He’s basically just jigging with a 3wt fly rod
i literally jut got done tying some flies up....then i click on here and see its fly fishing...lol...im in wyoming and would love to see you out here and would love to tie you some flies and send you
"It's not crazy expensive just about 300 bucks"
The line was $100.
Watch your rod tip when casting such a heavy jig. And fly rods are not meant for high sticking, they will break on you if you are boat flipping
I just got crappy a couple days ago on a fly ride. I wondered if I was the only one?
@ 19:54 - 19:56 sooo did OSG 🫢
Has lfg or anyone used mr. crappies stuff?
Streamers are nymphs now? I'll tell the Euro nymphing guys😂
That okra looked like something else at first.
What part of Colorado are you going to my friend.?
Nice plant
Anyone else notice the 🔥 growing at the beginning of the video? Lmao
Thought it was just my imagination, lol
Was that cannibus at the beginning of the video?
Googan fly kit?
Don’t throw your catfish bait back 😂😂😂😂
My living days are over, I'm married. 🙃😜
It was only 90 today praise god 😂😂
Broken guides are pretty easy fix.
Whats uppppp
So basically doing what I loved to do as a child is Cain pole fishing just a bamboo rod and a line with a hook and a worm
Get off my hole lol!
Colorado my home state!!! That would be cool to meet you and get an autograph from ya!! If you get some time HMU✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽
Texas spiny lizard

That’s is an embarrassment for the fly fishing presentation enthusiasts.😅
Put better line on that 3wt or at least stretch the line
