    This’ll Do Farm is a 6th generation family farm located in Southeast Iowa that is run by a father-son duo Tork and Sawyer. Sawyer is the force behind his family farm taking care of hog barns, along with farming the family’s acres. Sawyer promotes agriculture by recording his day-to-day life with his dad (Tork) on the farm. Both Tork and Sawyer have a burning desire to grow the farm bigger and bigger. Despite only being 20 years old, Sawyer has an old school work ethic with an innovative approach towards implementing agricultural technology and practices. Sawyer’s mission is to showcase agriculture in a positive light. And be one of the faces of agricultural education and innovation.

    The similarities between your pig sheds and my poultry houses is remarkable. With longitudinal tunnel we found that covering the 50"fans gave us less drafts and less temp fluctuations. Great barn.

    A little pro tip for you on your curtains, when it’s time to replace them , leave the rope up that holds it to the barn. Replace the curtain but leave the curtain on the outside of the ropes. Once the curtain is replaced cross hatch a new rope over the new curtain. This eliminates a lot of wear from the curtain sliding on the bird wire. The curtain slides on the old rope that holds it off the bird wire. Avoid any vertical ropes so any wear is spread across the the entire curtain rather than a single spot. I install my ropes on 4’ centers with a screw hook every 2 foot. The enter and outer ropes form X’es across the front of the barn.

    Hello! I’m new to pig farming and I was wondering if you could do a sort of cost breakdown video of how much it cost y’all to build this amazing pig barn. Like all farmers know this is a big deal, and a lot of money to invest in your operation.

    • @neilramseyer5348
      @neilramseyer5348 3 роки тому +1

      I would call your local builder. They did some themselves. So saved some money. I doubt they share exact numbers. But building itself, without electric and excavation probably around 400k

  • @watomb
    @watomb 3 роки тому +1

    Do you change the temperature inside based on the age of the pig?

    • @torktalks5573
      @torktalks5573 3 роки тому +1

      Yes sir, all our barns run a pre programmed temperature ramp. We start out at 78 with 21 day old pigs, hold that temp for 10 days and then start dropping it slightly every day to get the barn to 65 by about day 80. Thanks for watching! The brooder heaters run on their own curve for the first 2 weeks. Thanks for watching!
