As a professional fighter, one of his favorite tactics was the liver shot (both punch and kick), and he popularized its use in MMA. Bas is known for his charisma and has capitalized on his celebrity status since retiring from fighting in 1999. He works as a color commentator in the MMA orginazation. He has appeared in numerous tv shows, movies, and video games. He also coaches MMA and has authored several instructional materials.

Thank you Bas. I was in Japan from 92-97, and the sad thing is I did not discover Pancrase until I came back to the USA in 97! I would have loved to see you guys fight! Also, I just started your cable work out with the 5 exercises superset X4. Wow! I turned 68 in May and am actually surprised that I am able to hang in there with this workout. it is so much fun!

I chipped the same bone trying the same skateboarding trick over and over and landing on my palm when I bailed. I couldn't grip anything, but the pain wasn't bad until I tried to go to sleep that night. Then it kicked in.
Such a legend. Gotta get a mic though, my friend...a lapel mic would work fine or anything you can get closer to your mouth. Camera mic is bad. Look forward to more vids!!

i have been battling with this overtraining over 5 months! losing my hope...any advice? how did u relax? i try to do little bit yoga and walking. no running or bag work or sparring. if i go running even couple kilometers i get fever and body feels very bad. if i go to kb class my body says nope after workout...seems like even the tiniest workout overstress my body and this sucks!

Hi Bas. I have to admit that I have always been mostly into boxing. In other words, I have seen it on TV and been a spectator at quite a few matches throughout my life (I am 38 years old now). I wanted to ask you about something? It's probably mostly my own insecurity and slightly poor self-confidence and self-esteem that are talking here? But I really wanted to start boxing and now that I have followed you here on UA-cam too. I have seen you in the UFC and a few kickboxing matches on TV in the past. question = Would I be able to start boxing and if kickboxing. can i do this with a knee that has been destroyed but today no problems with anything other than going up and down stairs. ? And would I be able to "Now" maybe become good enough to become a Combat Boxer/Kickboxer? I am 38 years old. in "normal" form. I know right now while I am writing to you that I am reflecting all my certainty etc. onto you. in the hope that you can give me hope and believe in myself. but I am disparate. I'm trapped in myself in a way? I have not been good to myself and sometimes others. not violence but in other ways. (through substance abuse) I got help and am now completely clean and have been for over 3 years. I have worked hard with and on myself during that time and I still do. But now I am where I would like to give back to others and myself. That's why I think I'm asking you right now for help. I'm not asking you to "save" me 😊👍 but with your knowledge and experience = do you think you should start boxing or kickboxing. IS something I should just keep looking at.? Or do you think it would help me so that maybe in the end I could help others? My wish is to get some knowledge before I'm sure? hope it makes sense? I fully understand that you probably won't see or read this message. And that you probably don't have the time or even the desire to answer the strange question here..?
