    I recommend that these guys read up on the USS America, a carrier that was being retired and purposely sunk to test the durability of it and eventually its successor The Nimitz class

      It never did sink from the 4 weeks of explosives. They had to send a crew on board to scuttle it manually.

    The aircraft carrier its self isn't tested like you think. It's the aircraft we put up there that show it's power. All an aircraft carrier is is a floating runway we can take anywhere in the world and deploy a massive amount of air power from.

      They also have big anti air and usually some torpedo missiles. Sometimes huge artillery

      They are almost never alone either, it’s usually a carrier strike group which has a cruiser and destroyers, along with over 50 jets that can all drop guided ordnance. One strike group has more naval/air power than entire countries and the US has 11.

    We are basically the only country with a true blue water navy, where we can park a carrier fleet at the front door of any nation and supply said fleet with fuel, munitions, and food, basically indefinitely.

    Ok look. They damaged our ship. The task was to destroy one oil rig. They gave them warnings to leave for about 15 minutes. They didn’t leave one person got gun an anti air turret. And as Kyle said they were vaporized instantly. They blew up the rig and as they were there a ship was coming. They warned the ship to turn around. It agreed but kept coming. Fired on them and they destroyed it. Rinse and repeat a few more times and another ship was coming.
    Best part is… this ship was a Russian ship who just wanted to watch the battle.

    The Nimitz class aircraft carrier is basically the most deadly platform that's ever existed. I kinda understand Woody's point of view, but the Navy is what allows us to control the world. You can't imagine the power of one single carrier strike group. We would need 3 to defeat the entire Chinese navy.

      @@willshields4480 For long term purposes, no. B-1 lancers can go up to 9300 miles before refueling; in comparison to an aircraft carrier that runs on nuclear energy that will basically run for 30 to 50 years before it is decommissioned..

    I like to imagine a hard fought battle in San Francisco in a invasion scenario like China or something. before the navy boys from San Diego show up and fuckin body them the image of the entire bay filled with navy ships going to work would be the wildest sight

    The ability to transport aircraft and have a landing/refueling stage anywhere in the world is immensely valuable. Especially with how valuable it is to obtain air superiority in itself in modern warfare.

    Kyle I bet a sailor would take you on base and show you a carrier! It’s in norfolk Virginia. Pre covid they used to do tours of the base. My dad was stationed on enterprise it was epic the hanger area were they keep the plane is soooooo big

    There was an old saying since World War 2 that says: An Aircraft Carrier is a Heavyweight Boxer with a Glass Jaw.
    A single hit by a very fast, very modern Russian made Hypersonic Anti-Ship Missile will surely destroy it in a single blow and sink it quick.

      That is not a saying. 3 times the Japanese damaged the uss Enterprise to the point they declared it sunk only for the Uss Enterprise to show back up earning it the nickname The Grey Ghost. American warship are known for being very hard to sink. Unlike Russian ships which can be sunk by a simple storm.

      @@zee-fr5kw Please understand that Patriot missiles COULD NOT INTERCEPT the Hypersonic missile because Patriot missile is slower in speed with MAX speed of Mach 3.5 while the Russian Hypersonic Missile Kinzhal can reach up to MAX speed of Mach 10. In that case the Patriot missile is useless and will NOT ABLE TO HIT and the aircraft carrier is a sitting duck helpless.

      ​@@biboyumandar1538A Patriot system literally took out Kinzhal missiles in Ukraine earlier this year. There's not a guarantee of interception, but we've already got proof that it's not the invincible weapon that Russia has claimed it to be.

That patriot system is too old and too slow it was invented in the 70's meanwhile the Kinzhal is a hypersonic missile speeds Mach 7+ invented in this decade. That patriot system sucks as it was proven to fail a lot of times during the gulf war of 90's when it failed to intercept the scud missiles of iraq. I hope you guys straighten your facts !!!

    Wow, okay.. so here's a question, when does a super Carrier ever need to refuel for any operation?? In short, they don't. They essentially run on nuclear propulsion which would last up to 30-50 years last time I checked..

      Still need logistics and the navy only has a dozen cargo ships that can keep up with the CSG crew needs to eat and munitions

      @@ldIezz sure, but what are the better alternatives. They do need to re-supply, but there are adequet fleets out in the ocean to be able to rotate operations accordingly..more would be better.

      And those carriers aren't alone either, they're typically accompanied 2 Cruisers, 3 destroyers and or frigates, one auxiliary, and sometimes a sub.. that's a lot of Firepower.

      @@SuperIcarusman its a ton of fire power one CGS can launch 700 VLS cruise missiles every 24 hrs, its just that in a major war logistics would be targeted and most of the cargo ships today that the navy uses aren't fast enough, A YT channel Not What You Think has a good video on naval logistics and the future of it

      Yeah, by no means are ineffective though. Carriers are the core of any CSG, and consider half or more of the planet is water, it's a logistical advantage you'd want to keep.
