Jim Hutton is most notably known for being the partner of former Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Before meeting Mercury, Hutton was a hairdresser in his hometown in County Carlow before moving to London, where he met his future boyfriend. Hutton was with the dynamic singer for seven years until Mercury’s untimely death in 1991 due to AIDS. Hutton and Mercury shared an extremely private life away from the cameras. So what do we know about Jim Hutton?
On New Year's Day in 2010, Hutton died at the age of 60 from lung cancer, just three days shy of his 61st birthday. In 1990, Hutton was diagnosed with AIDS and dealt with it until his death. Hutton, who cared for Mercury during the singers battle with the same syndrome, said that it took him a year to break the news to Mercury that he too had been diagnosed with AIDS. Many believed that Hutton had died from complications with AIDS, however, it was revealed that his death was caused by lung cancer.
In 1994, Hutton released a book entitled ‘Mercury and Me’, a memoir of his relationship with the famed singer. Within the book, Hutton shared details of his relationship with Mercury as well as some never before seen candid photos of both himself and Mercury together. In an interview given shortly after the book was released, Hutton discussed various reasons why he wanted the book to be written and how it helped him deal with his grief in the aftermath of Mercury’s death.
In 1987 Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS. For the next number of years, Mercury denied publicly rumors that he had contracted the syndrome. However, it was later found out that he had informed only those he most truly trusted, with Hutton being one of those people. Mercury told Hutton that he would understand if he wanted to end their relationship to which Hutton replied, “I love you, Freddie, I’m not going anywhere.” For Mercury’s remaining years Hutton took care of him and was by his side until his death.
Hutton and Mercury weren’t officially married, but they both wore wedding rings to show their commitment to one another. Hutton and Mercury began their relationship in a time long before same-sex marriage and other forms of equality we see today, which various groups have been campaigning towards for the last number of decades. Hutton lived with Mercury in the singer's Garden Lodge home soon after they began dating where they remained together until Mercury’s death.
Both Hutton and Mercury were extremely private individuals and therefore so was their relationship. It wasn’t until after Mercury’s death and the release of Hutton’s memoirs in 1994 that fans were able to get a glimpse into their relationship. The book included many intimate photos of the pair from their many happy years together.

It saddens me to see Mary stans refusing to acknowledge that Jim was an important part of Freddie's life, or putting him down because he wrote a book which they see as a tell-all betrayal. I think the book was Jim's way of processing his grief and wanting to share the side of Freddie that he knew with the fans. I like everything I've seen, read, or heard about regarding Jim. He was very warm and friendly towards fans and he refused to take any of Freddie's money; he applied for a mortgage with his own savings. Plus he stayed with Freddie right until the end. He deserves more respect from certain people.
I'm not a big Mary fan if she loved Freddie so much why did she not honor his wish and let Jim Joe and Peter stay at Garden Lodge as long as they wanted? As soon as Freddie died she kicked the three of them to the curb!

I think it is a late revenge; she never got over the fact that Freddie loved Jim, so she took it out on the cats. Speaks books to me...

I love seeing Freddie genuinely happy to be with Jim. He had so much heartache being a bisexual man in the 70's, that here, allowing him to be himself with an amazing man just...I adore him from his music, but more so for his "never hide yourself" attitude. This man will live forever, and at least his time on Earth had some joy in it.

I bought Jim's book and I got so emotional😭😭 they had many ups and downs but they were so in love. Jim wrote in a way that made Freddie human, and showed that they loved eachother, flaws and all. I couldn't help but smile evrytime he wrote that he had bought Freddie another cat😂🐱
@@tigerlily5347 Freddie told Jim and some others in the house that he would like for them to stay even after his death, and that they could have anything from the lodge, unfortunately though he didn't clearly state that in his will, so Mary kicked them out, saying they had 3 months to find a new place, but I believe she shortened that time even more. Freddie loved Jim very much based off Jim's book, Jim loved Freddie just as much😊 It's really infuriating, what Mary did.

You would think she would pop her head out. Seems like she is just hiding somewhere counting the money that comes in. Czytałam i polecam książkę. Pokazała Freddiego takiego jakim był naprawdę. A był wrażliwy, troskliwy, opiekuńczy i co ważne każdego człowieka szanował. Te cechy charakteru i życie swoje Jim Hutton z Freddim opisał w naturalny sposób w formie powieści. A to jak mi się wydaje jest najlepsza forma literacką, aby poznać choć trochę druga osobę.

well bohemian rhapsody wasn't a documentary. They had to fit the whole story in 2 hours so they had to make some cuts and they also needed some drama
