      Thanks Darren, loving your comments mate. Ill prob release a catch and cook squid 2.0 soon. I have learnt a lot more cooking and preparation tips for squid and would like to do more of a instructional piece on how to catch them, where to catch them, setup etc. So stay tuned for that in the coming months.

      @@fishingmad look forward to that mate. I love calamari but I'm hopeless at cooking em. The video you already did on catching and cooking em was good. I'm gonna have a crack at cooking some if I get a few next time I'm out.

      Thats awesome to hear. Squid are awesome to catch and eat. Over the last 6 months I have learned a few easier ways to clean them and a few ways to prepare them that really helps them to be tender and not rubbery or chewy which can happen at times. Only if this weather will improve so I can get out there. LOL.

    Thanks for that. I got 5 good squid from a wharf yesterday and made a mess while trying to clean them
    Ink all over the sink
    I was told to always rinse seafood in salt water not fresh.
    Anyway. Thanks again

      @fishingmad  4 роки тому

      Thanks Mark for the comment, yeah it can certainly make the sink a messy place with ink everywhere. Washing in salt water is a great idea, but using some fresh water never seems to make much of a difference. ill have a catch and cook squid 2.0 coming out soon as i have a few improved ways to target and clean them that ill share soon,

      I have mainly been using the following exclusively. The Savage Gear hybrid egi shrimp in 3 gram, Yamashita Live in 2.5 gram, Rui jigs in 3.5 gram Shimano egixile in 3 gram. They all work great. sometime just need to chop and change colours and weights depending on the weather conditions

    Hi allan, just wondering if u could do a vid on squid fishing landbased, (I know u have got many ideas already), but since I've not got a boat or kayak just wondering if u could explain best methods, colours, places, tides, weather, things to look for in the water and so on, or you could just reply to this message, great vid as usual, ur content is some of the best out there, cheers

      @fishingmad  5 років тому

      Thank you so much for the positive comments. Yeah I have been planning on doing a land base squid video for some time now. Was thinking of doing this at Queenscliff or Mount Martha and running through the different rod options, jig options and so on. The weather has made things a little tough lately but should have something out of this nature very soon, so stay tuned.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  5 років тому

      @@lochiedavid9642 Happy to help, so feel free to keep the questions coming. years back I bought a standard kayak and I got so frustrated that i spent more time paddling with the orrs in my hand then fishing. I sold it and a few years later bought a foot peddle kayak. It changed everything, being able to move easily whilst fishing at the same time was a big game changer for me. That being said foot pedal kayaks come at a much different price point. Use eBay and Gumtree as good tools to try and snap up a bargain hobie or native watercraft. A lot of serious kayak anglers like to replace their yaks every few years and that's were sometimes you can pick up some really good options. I'm actually in the process of changing yaks right now. LOL. I hope this info helps you get started.
