those restaurants are belong to the top 1% of the top 1% of all Indonesian. I realised it when the sister of the founder of Gojek himself (which is also a Minister in the Govt) appeared in the video. Then i also realised that i wont be able to afford one plate of the food over there
Alif Sussardi true, these restaurants resonates with foreigners and those who used to live abroad ( eg. rich kids who studied abroad) who really missed the food scene. Or just some rich housewives whose schedules are in and out of salon, spending the day hanging out with their fellow socialite lol
ya menghayal babu aja bisa makan disana
the lunch/dinner set is probably worth about 1 month of UMR. I'd say at least 30% of indonesians, at some point, would have had the money but would never dream of spending it on one sitting meal.
this is the only time that i've seen CNA posted anything positive about Jakarta and/or Indonesia lol
true that.
Yang dishoot yang kumuh2nya, dan masih dimention traffic
Oh they aired a lot of positive things about Indonesia. I watch the channel everyday on tv.
It's a Bitter truth for a better purpose.
@@redityafilzapriatama9385 Emang kenyataannya banyak tempat kumuh di Indo. Kalau orang Jakarta pasti ga tau gmn rasanya hidup di kota2 lain seperti Manado, Padang, etc dan keliatan infrastrukturnya itu jauh ketinggalan. 4 km dari kota, itu banyak sekali daerah2 kumuh.
And i'm here boiling my water to cooked my indomie like no others
😆
Chef Andrea got the point of Indonesian. "Lot of requirements, but very cheap prize" it's realy Indonesian
I mean there was quite a sum of five star restaurant in Jakarta back on the 90s during the economic bubble (thanks to the Japanese investors)... My family was one of the lucky ones who happens to caught inside the bubble... It was great... I mean 5 star dishes, 1-2 personal waiters for each table, i was just a kid back then but boooi it was memorable... But when the bubble popped (like ... 2x over the last 2 decades), these kinda luxury doesn't fully recover... I've seen some rise and fall within couple of years, some are still standing but without the same spirit... And those who can really afford the luxury, is about 1-5% of the population... So ... Yeah do the math...
You should check “parti gastronomi” they are a group of food enthusiast in bandung who research all about “nusantara(local)” gastronomy, they usualy cook for private party or just make some exhibition cook
Ooooh this smells strong fancy distilled privilege!!!! I feel so out of touch already just by watching this video :o
I thought you're gonna go to like really small nasi goreng stall that has great taste but no one really know
I think it's safe to say that most of the merchant/restaurant featured here is very segmented. It's basically labeled at secret or some sort of hidden gems is because most people in Jakarta doesn't know about it, or simply can't afford it. But you're not technically wrong. All in all, great job in discovering these places, at least now I know where I'll 'consider' to eat when the paycheck comes.
it'd be a shame if jakarta didnt have any world class restaurants.. he says.. not that more than 1% can afford eating at that place xd
Even the 1% in Jakarta loves street food lol
most people in jakarta eats street food all the time, so why bother eating at fine dining world class restaurant once in a full moon and then the next morning you still eating at your favorite porride or ketoprak street vendor?
I'm watching this video while having my dinner which is a nasi goreng from a street vendor. For the people on this video probably my nasi goreng is a rubbish, but for me it is a delicacy.
Watching this after watched CNA Hunger in Singapore.
This is amazing. I live in Jakarta but never knew any of those.
This is a real hidden gem.
Great job.. enjoyed your piece
19:22 Farm to table is an everyday event in rural Indonesia. Most Indonesians are small farmers. Or at least they have something grown in their front yards.
Isn't that usually only for middle to upper class families who could actually own a yard?
@@ririrarin1821 you haven't been to the countryside then. Everybody owns a yard in the "dusun". The richer ones have one or several "sawah" (land to grow rice), and "tegalan" (land to grow "palawija", fruit trees or trees).
@@RiskaDhenabayu i can tell you're very knowledgeable. Bravo 👍👍👍
@@ririrarin1821 wow u definitely never go to countryside and that's even almost in every province
@@RiskaDhenabayu thanks for letting me know!
Really good content! Jakarta is picking up to have world class bars and restaurants in a very limited capacity to get import products from overseas - such as spirits, fruits, meat, etc.. but gladly to know, there are some talented people in town with high taste & good quality oriented. Soon will try em' all!
My first time knowing CNA can report something good about Indonesia 🤣😂🤣🤣
Cool.. I've never heard this place. Thanks for reviewing this place.
this is john wick level kind of secret
this is more like secrets menu & drinking culture for white collars. so far from the actual jakarta's wild life.
Most of us belong Rp 20.000 menu
@@amanhidinghisname2079 you got cool name
_LEUNCA IS CRUNCHY OUTSIDE & CREAMY INSIDE!!!_
👌😁👍
Omg! I’m drooling
This is beautiful
I’d love to apply to one of these restaurants actually 😊 i have been out of the commercial kitchen for a while now but would like to come back to re-shape up
Basically, farm to table is not a new thing for Indonesian in rural/semi rural area. I've visited 2 places mentioned in video but if Mr. Aun Koh wants to emphasize the "secret" diner in Indonesia, he really need to ask the local tho.
Jakarta is amazing city in the world n beyond 🤣
What a show. Gak nyangka ini ada di Indonesia.
i dont know all those place, basiclly im not their market, lol
Nice.. but sadly none of this will be added to my "secret" list. Its way too different with "secret" standard of Indonesian people. Hahaha.
Hendri Dalimartha YASH IT IS!
Widiw ada keluarga Mas Menteri.
Watcing this video with a bowl of indomie fried noodle (2 packs) and a sunny side egg on top
😂😂 2 packs? That's a lot!
hidden restaurant, hidden bar and whiskey community, oh boi how more varies it is in Jakarta compared to other city
Makarim family
one of the most influential family in Indonesia.
@@rezaf2391 Also one of the most low profile. Until of course pak mentri comes in the scene.
Was D’classic former location in Lan Nan Thai Thamrin?
Jadi lapar watching this at 1am
Visited 2 out of the 4. I think you missed that one secret pop-up underground dinner. Basically they will travel on one specific part of Indonesia and focus to elevate that cuisine from that area. It is by invitation-only.
Think about Noma focus on Indonesian dishes
care to elaborate? I find this interesting
Noma by Chef René or you mean, Nusa by Chef Ragil ?
@@dioferdyan similar concept like Noma. Probably they copied it the concept just like Noma Pop-up in Mexico.
@@soshit i need to dig my email first. I was invited through a friend (she's the one who had the real $$$). Price point is not that different with Andreas Peresthu in this documentary.
@@dioferdyan btw not chef ragil. I need to dig up my archive first.
OoooooooOoOOOo sEcREt
i've been live in jakarta for 22 years, but I don't know jakarta have really cool bar
Next time you are in Jakarta please let me know...I will take you to best kept secrete place when it comes to steaks.
Hungry but also kind of sad.
Wow I am the 42nd viewer
Where is the restaurant located?
Mpek Tjoen is located in Jalan Ahmad Dahlan, South Jakarta, just accross Tanamera Coffee. His other restaurant, i guess, is located in Jalan Wolter Monginsidi, accross Nusa Indah (Padang cuisine restaurant). I just happened to read the board outside the place, it says By Andrea Parestu.
I've tried javanegra and their coffee bean is superb! Been a happy customer for their coffee bean!
Whats their price range?
@@GomuGama for 150 - 200 grams (i kinda forgot how exactly the grams were but the small ones) around 90K IDR - 100 ish K IDR. Depends from which region the beans were. They even have their own cold drip inhouse designs. Which are very aestethically pleasing
@@dionaditya3820 that's actually pretty average price for coffee beans. I thought it'll be like super premium price
@@antariksavvan and thats why it is still my go to coffee bean!
@@dionaditya3820 how much for a cup there?

0:47 thats old footage of jakarta, now the pedestrian has been revitalized
for those of you who never sees this place is exist, cheers we're on the same boat
food
I mean we could have a world class restaurant in jakarta but i think it's quite difficult bcs not everybody would spend amounts of cash for a "fine dining" and how to maintain the customers like the michelin starred restaurants.
7:54 I thought this was a prison lmao
awesome. i can bring my Hot Wheels and dine there!
Like' one and no other..Keep id Up
CINA SEMUAAAAA!!
Itu HANA MAKARIM, ARAB!

If you concern about our paddy-. The 1% doesn’t allow an average standard to eat. While me attempting nasi uduk for brunch without thinking about the quality nor the calories😩
Because Indonesian are very humble people which not obsessed of being the best but we always wanted to have good food for everybody we really want to back to the root like Andrea other than being Alien in the Mars
21:18 pork broth? Makarim?
wkwkwk mikir itu juga
The Makarims are too smart to be trapped in a concept called religion.
When..you have...enough Capital...to established...high end Restaurant type like this...you may be able to hired ....an expert...to guide you for a start up !!
But...when...you are a common ..decent people...you need a decade to build ...the bussiness..type like this .!!...
yess..nothing imposible if you consistent and persistence...you will achieve something...for years...of time and effort and money investment..to gaining a popularity in some point !!
Some people are..lucky enough...to achieve some goals in a very such a short time...and most people..they just need to be patient and focus on what they are doing...its better to have a slow progress...but you keep on moving forward instead of doing nothing.
Every body will achieve something...some day...in their life as long as ...you just keep focus...dont get jelous with some one else success...that...get their succes...in their first attempt...and without...particular ...skill or expert in certain field...they are just happen to be the lucky people !!
Just keep focus and no turning back...you will get there !!
Come on,,,i drove almost every fckin day passing that place..i just knew from this video that place call javanegra.. i always wonder what it was
They said, It'll be ashamed if jakarta didn't have any world class restaurant. Well, I think we wont be ashamed, because we had more wonderful, delicious, and tastier traditional food than those "world class food" which the taste is not so strong for us. 😌 Honestly, I was a little bit dissapointed watch this video, because non of them are traditional food, but only the fusion food with sambal leunca.
Let me drink my local red wine that I bought from nearby toko jamu
Amer 😄
Bro i was in jakarta for my whole life and never knew these was existed
Well, join the club! Same here. 😂
I think Mr Aun Koh must visit Namaaz Dining for molecular gastronomy experience in Jakarta
No no, visit glodok Wong Fu Kie lah... Now thats what i call hidden gem. Hahahaha.
Leunca is not a green bean..😒 it is one family with chilli, tomatto..
How oily and spicy their food, but they seems very healthy.
Non of them die bcz dangerous diseases.
Fyi, diabetes and heart attack is very common in Indonesia
@@FareedNaufal FYI which part???most ppl that i know they not die bcz heart attack or diabetes, they die bcz accident

nope.
"crops fast and big and cheap not all about the quality"

why subtitle the indonesian chef? i'm certain that any english speaker would perfectly understand him. why not subtitle liverpudlians? and those australian bogans? and black Texans?
i watched that leonardo dicaprio climate change documentary, in it he interviewed a lot of people, one if i remembered was a woman with a very strong scottish accent, the other an indonesian speaking overly enunciated english. guess which of the two got subtitled?
alls im sayin yo :/
i'm sorry, these all not local at all, negeri kami memang sungguh ramah menerima semua jenis makanan yang bukan dari kebiasaan kami.
indonesian food have been so long got heavy influenced by south asian, east asian & pacific people diet (melanesian, polynesian)
Wow wait? We didn't do much grilling? R u sure dude? When it's the most ancient ways to cook? U need more vacation to rural area...
clearly the chef never heard this thing called sate
Lol in the country of 260 million souls, only few hundreds people have the right to taste anything in this video
It hurts my eyes to see all these overly proud Indonesian comments, and to rub salt to the wound, they can't even use grammar and punctuations correctly. I'm from the UK, by the way.
Why should we be perfect at your language?
You can't even speak our language.. at least we can understand you..

Influencer asing yg dibayar pemerintahkah untuk mempromosikan indonesia? Sayangny sudah ada 2 kasus corona
Sayangnya ini Channel News Asia, macam BBCnya Singapore
*TVRI maksudnya
Bukann lah
