You've installed the plastic bit with rubber upside down. (watch the video slowed down when tearing the unit apart) No problems so far? I have problem when my fuel tank is 1/2 empty, car stalls. No ideas?
This unit was new but i wrecked it by drilling out BOTH the vac and return tubes. Drill out only vac line. Watch my other vid. "Air in fuel lines". If you car is gas it may be fuel pump. If diesel cavitation in fuel lines causing inj pump to struggle. Make sure you have both the motor cover and hood bonnett installed or both removed from car.
Cavitation in fuel lines causing many issues that mechanics are unaware of. The fuel is overheated by engine, inj pump,inj etc, hence the aluminum return fuel line. This overheating causes cavitation in fuel system which returns to fuel pickup with air in it then it is picked up in fuel pickup WITH bubbles in it and the return check valve further mixes bubbles with fuel and restricts fuel. So imo this is a flawed design. A fuel cooler before return to tank could help. There is a separation of air in fuel by the inj pump but only a small amount, this sysyem further returns air to return fuel line. A baffle inside of fuel system to dissapate air in fuel could help also.

Wonder if anyone has ever tried to 'service'/clean that return-line check value? Mine seems impeded somewhat.

Is this an OEM replacement or an aftermarket one?

Look it up at dealer with vin so u get current model, vw may have solved issue, maybe.
Watch solved 90 percent air in fuel lines.
