I am wondering, what happened on your thumb??? There's like a scratch wound there :(( Also, very amazing restoration ^^ I love everything about this channel, and the honesty and commentary within just makes it all the better, unlike other restoration videos that don't explain anything at all... Keep up the great work, and love all your projects by far!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow thank you so much! I feel seen 🥰 I wounded my thumb while experimenting with different adhesives, trying to remove a cap that had welded itself to the tube. 🤦♂️
@@RestorishOfficial that sounds painful, but I'm glad it was a minor wound!! Keep it up, and if I could compliment you, you're amazing at what you do, even if there are some mistakes here and there!!! It's all human, and you're just as supportive of others with such a great smile :D Can't wait to see what project comes next!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yeah It does seem like a car accident, now looking at those glass pieces found in the switch lite, they do look like the thick glass used in a car window, I just hope that whoever owned is still alive, it feels kinda weird using a device from someone who is no longer around, if that is the case.
No flak for me - loved the video and very satisfy it to watch. Doesn’t matter to me if half the machine had to be replaced, or if the end result is still beaten up - it’s working, has character and was fun to watch. Keep it up!
I completely agree with you! I love the story it has to tell afterwards. Sure, it's beat up, but it has history, which I think just adds more charm to it, honestly
I love that you appreciate the stories that unperfect restorations tell! The collector in me says, "must look mint" but the hobbyist in me says "crack that book's spine"
I get your mixed feelings about this project but what a learning experience. Most people wouldn't have tried to fix that but you kept it (mostly) out of the landfill and now you have something that tells a story.
I've found with the usb-c ports on some of my devices, Plackers are great for cleaning them out without as much risk as a metal dental pick. I keep a few in my toolkits and in my car in case I have junk in my phone charging port, they might help you out in the future as well!
I use these too, and yep they work pretty good for cleaning out ports. I use plackers, toothbrushes, and a conservative amount of isopropyl alcohol to clean out dirty USB-C, Lightning, and Micro USB ports. I used to use cotton swabs too but have stopped doing that as it is too easy for the cotton fibers to come off inside the ports and leave more foreign matter to clean out.
I really enjoyed this rebirth for this switch console. You brought this console back from the dead. I think the scratches and cracks give it some charm. It brings back memories of my older brothers hand me down Gameboy that i was given. The Gameboy was a little sun bleached, the screen was scratched it didn't always play games right away and the piece of plastic thar holds the battery in place was replaced with some clear packing tape. That old busted and dusty Gameboy created so many childhood memories for me. The first game on any console I ever beat was links awakening. Mario bros 6 golden coins was a console quality Mario game in the palm of my hands and Pokémon yellow had me hooked for a full year. Just because it's old and beat up doesn't mean it's trash. You've earned a sub my dude keep up the good work 👍
I think the condition of the screen, thumb sticks, and buttons matter the most as far as functionality, so with the parts you replaced I think a lot of people would still be happy to use this switch if they don't have the means to get one that's new or lightly used. Nice job!
I love to watch you take things apart, clean them, and put them back together. You've always been good at taking things apart - I'm glad to see you putting them back together now.😂❤
For my point of view i think you did a great job on making it work again and it has history the scars that have the switch man I can’t believe that how badly it was and you made it work again that is really good not a restoration but fixing it I would call it a really good video
I have wrecked a screen before with using too much IPA on my first Switch battery removal. Honestly, and this is totally NOT recommended, my favorite method is with much much less IPA....and a rounded metal spudger with ALOT of finesse. Theres really no easy way to remove these things so do whatever you feel comfortable with.
Super glue accelerator is a life changer. Highly recommend adding some to your bag o tricks. For less fumes and a strong hold baking soda is also good. Just don't hold it too close, the reaction makes a lot of heat
I’m amazed that the switch worked after the incident that lead it too you, imo who cares if it’s repair or replace, and the switch has a story to tell and the cosmetic damage is a part of that story so why the hell not.
That reminds me of my beaten up blue Nintendo DSi. I have several DS consoles as it was my fave handheld console from Nintendo (and so easy to pirate even in its heyday thanks to flashcarts), but this particular one I picked up from a thrifstore a couple years ago for equivalent of 3 bucks. It had DSTWO flashcart inside, which was THE flashcart to get back in the day (acecard being the other one). I ended up playing it quite a lot, cause the screens and hinge were in good condition and I don't have to worry about damaging it, since the case is full of scuffs already.
Well you salvaged the main board, thats the important bit. Personally I would have swapped the shell; the crispness of the digitizer juxtaposed against the heavily damaged shell isn't to my taste but to each their own.
Nice work! 👍 I havent worked with a Switch Lite as of yet, but I do have some experience with phones & tablets with glued-in batteries. 91% iso and carefully using a heat gun have always worked for me to remove batteries. This looks like it is a bit harder to do though. I was thinking that if the iso and heat doesnt do the trick well enough, then maybe just loosen it enough to lift it on one side and maybe you could slide some fishing wire or dental floss, then slowly slide it back and forth until the battery is loose enough to easily come out.
The first time I saw a iPhone 📱 I thought of this and thought of the same thing as well and then I saw this video of the same video and it made my day so much better because it made me smile so hard to see the whole thing was so beautiful and I loved the video and I am very happy to hear it is very good and very beautiful 0:00
Be carefull with micro sd card slots when cleaning with a brush, i opened one from a old phone and just by touching with my pick it started scratching the very thin and small pins on them, similar to usb c touch pads
Someone sold an Animal Crossing edition Switch Lite, which came with what appeared to be a 128GB Mario mushroom microSD card. However, there were no games on the console-not even Animal Crossing. Did you wipe it, or was it already wiped when you got it? Personally, if I were wiping it to remove my island, I would’ve taken the microSD card out as well. I was hoping for some kind of story behind it, maybe even the chance to recover someone's lost island, but was a little disappointed to find it completely empty.
I love watching your videos. But with that being said me personally, I wouldn't have gone through all of that trouble to put that trashed housing back on there. I would have either found a nice used animal crossing housing or did an entire housing swap. You were already completely dissasembling it anyways so for me, that just makes more sense.
Suggestion for the battery removal, goo gone and a short length of fishing line, use in a flossing motion as you drip the gg, thats how i removed the emblems on my harley
The first time the team was in the league and they had to win it in a game against the other team and they were in the same team and they lost 😞 I don’t know
My head cannon is that Steve goes back to his desk and asks "Hey, where's my yellow Switch light with my Animal Crossing and Breath of the Wild saves on it?"
You need to look into super glue activator! It's incredible, it's just a spray that causes super glue to dry completely instantly so you don't have to hold it.
What are your plans for the switch in the end? You both fixed and restored this console, I think there is a lot of elitism in these communities and you'll always cop flack no matter what you do or how you go about things. I really fell in love with this console and it's story, if it's ever for sale I would definitely put my hand up!
Hmmm,… sounds good, lemme know how much you would have sold it for, not that I’m interested in buying it,but after all that work you did I might subscribe to this channel
Hey! I’m in the process of picking my college major and I’m really interested in what you do. How did you get started doing this? Did you go to college and get a degree in a related field?
:) I grew up in Washington State, but fairly close to the Canadian border. I usually pronounce it "zee". I pronounced it as "zed" just for fun as a shout out to my Canadian friends.
The only way I could get a job in the future is if I had a degree 📜 and a masters degree and a job in a field that I could do a lot of things in my life 0:00

That's where my Switch Lite went!
😆
Did Tronics wife sell it 😜🤣🤣🤣
The real question is...did he use the perfect amount of thermal paste? 😉
Wait what that’s MY Switch Lite
I’m about to start a war
@theinsideoftechnology5134 I mean he said he took it from Steve's desk 😝🤣🤣🤣

The pain I feel seeing the animal crossing switch lite this way hurts….

Glad you enjoyed it!
bro u take things apart and reassemble for a living?
you are my hero
Not sure why you would get flack. In the end it's a working console, saved fromt the dump; that can be used and enjoyed. Fair play
I completely agree with you! I love the story it has to tell afterwards. Sure, it's beat up, but it has history, which I think just adds more charm to it, honestly
In reference to the end - I love your restoration! The Switch has some awesome battle scars.
Can everybody stop hating on this guy how about you try cleaning a light
I love that you appreciate the stories that unperfect restorations tell! The collector in me says, "must look mint" but the hobbyist in me says "crack that book's spine"
I love the satisfying flick of the glove after mixing the water and soap 😊
Am not the only one then. 😁
I get your mixed feelings about this project but what a learning experience. Most people wouldn't have tried to fix that but you kept it (mostly) out of the landfill and now you have something that tells a story.
Dude. You saved this console. I would call that restored to working order at least. Congrats dude.
I've found with the usb-c ports on some of my devices, Plackers are great for cleaning them out without as much risk as a metal dental pick. I keep a few in my toolkits and in my car in case I have junk in my phone charging port, they might help you out in the future as well!

Not the prettiest results, but an amazing outcome based off the condition it was in before. Great job! I love the content!
Thank you on commenting about IPA and the danger of drying out the skin. That's a real struggle and everyone should know about it...
I really enjoyed this rebirth for this switch console. You brought this console back from the dead. I think the scratches and cracks give it some charm. I mean it’s got multiple dings but you made it basically look brand new after an accident. That’s cool to me.
I think the condition of the screen, thumb sticks, and buttons matter the most as far as functionality, so with the parts you replaced I think a lot of people would still be happy to use this switch if they don't have the means to get one that's new or lightly used. Nice job!
I enjoyed this video more than any other videos I watched. You did an amazing job. Thanks for sharing
Wow! Im glad you enjoyed it!
The first thing I thought of was plainrocks ways to break a switch lite
YESSSSS I THOUGHT THAT TOOOO
That was in my recommendations after this lol
I think you did to the best you could with that every damaged Switch Lite. Well done!
I love to watch you take things apart, clean them, and put them back together. You've always been good at taking things apart - I'm glad to see you putting them back together now.😂❤
I love your videos. You and Steve are artists when it comes to refurbishing electronics.
Dude, naw! What you did was nothing short of amazing! Good Job!
Nah, I enjoy the transformation it undergoes on its journey to looking pristine again. I'm not bothered about it telling stories.
For my point of view i think you did a great job on making it work again and it has history the scars that have the switch man I can’t believe that how badly it was and you made it work again that is really good not a restoration but fixing it I would call it a really good video
You should take the shells and "weather" it to make it look post apocalyptic but in a cool way and not a "there's dirt jammed right there" way lmao
Nice seeing a genuine restoration of this degree in a world of fakes
Does it work? Yes! That's a win in my opinion.
I have wrecked a screen before with using too much IPA on my first Switch battery removal. beautifully put back together! Well done
This looks like the ultimate test 🤯
Old thin card or thin clear plastic card will help as well, that's what I use when taking out batteries.
Definitely no flak. Its a complete repair for me, replace what's broken and make it work again
Well done. I chickened out at installing new sticks and transparent case back.
Wow! The inside of the machine is really clean.
I’m amazed that the switch worked after the incident that lead it too you, imo who cares if it’s repair or replace, and the switch has a story to tell and the cosmetic damage is a part of that story so why the hell not.

Just slap a vinyl on the back and call it Roadrash Edition

Instead of make-up brushes, get yourself a set of automotive detailing brushes. They are the perfect balance of soft and stiff.
I would use some clear primer on the case to make it nicer and smoother in touch, while still leaving all the scratches visible
Cool 🆒 thanks I just wanted you know I will get the car back in a little while and then I’ll be home 🏡 and I’ll get you some money for the car 🚘
Great job on this one Homie. Great vid!

It's actually pretty easy to fix this squishy button. You should remove the capton tape and gently pull out the metal piece
Definitely hear some Final Fantasy vibe type background music in this video.
When you go to remove the battery, sperate the housing that holds the battery so you don't have to worry about the LCD
Why is Repaired in Nintendo Switch From Junk

Nice work dude poor switch lite though🙁
Replacing parts is also fixing. You think they gonna weld a broken piston together? If it works in the end and it didnt beforehand is fixed.
Ahhh Animal crossing 😍 I wish I could have a switch. Btw thank you for restoring ittt so cool
Why didn’t he use new switch case
I love watching your videos. But with that being said me personally, I wouldn't have gone through all of that trouble to put that trashed housing back on there. Looks Awsome..you did Fantastic 🎉
Would love to know the other smelly options to glue the plastics .
My Switch Lite has been missing for over six months...but this isn't it, unfortunately 😢 mine was just the plain teal.
So you did a shell replacement with a wrecked switch lite.
The first time the team was in the league and they had to win it in a game against the other team and they were in the same team and they lost 😞 I don’t know
Your buckets seem a little light on Dawn 😉.

It got that from Sega Genesis Game called Road Rash.
super satisfying
Finnaly no fake restauration
How 🤯😱🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂🎉good job
It's Battle tested now, Now I can truly be called an "Animal" crossing switch lol
😱🤯
This is an animal crossing addition too. What happened??? 😭
would there be a way to "restore" the casing in a way it would prevent future damage while keeping the damage it already has intact?
Hmmm,… sounds good, lemme know how much you would have sold it for, not that I’m interested in buying it,but after all that work you did I might subscribe to this channel
Hey! I’m in the process of picking my college major and I’m really interested in what you do. How did you get started doing this? Did you go to college and get a degree in a related field?
put some stickers on it and call it day 💅
(me, watching the end montage): ...is that a Kiss from a Rose instrumental cover?? 😅
Yer a dang WIZARD!!!
Use a plastic card for the battery removal
Lil roughed up for selling... but well done!
Good job.
Looks only slightly more used than a normal switch once you finished
It is an interesting contrast between the new screen and digitizer, with the scarred shell. It feels both weathered and new.
Good job fixing it!! That’s impressive!
Thanks!
Would have been easier to just put the Board into the yellow switch
That didn’t look like the perfect amount of thermal paste 😅
Isent that plainrock124?
2:39 Oh, that’s how you pronounce “z”? If I may ask, where are you from/did you grow up?
:) I grew up in Washington State, but fairly close to the Canadian border. I usually pronounce it "zee". I pronounced it as "zed" just for fun as a shout out to my Canadian friends.
I think an extra amount of soap into the water would have been more helpful
That’s found on a landfill site for sure 🤢
The only way I could get a job in the future is if I had a degree 📜 and a masters degree and a job in a field that I could do a lot of things in my life 0:00
Used lighter fluid much easy way to remove that battery.
Mw watching this with the same Nintendo model😮
looks like a switch that is in one of those fake restoration videos where they make the items dirty then clean them for views
