  • Okay, guess you guys have all heard about the smoking accusation of BTS V by now right?
While it's still unclear whether did he really smoke, or was it just an edited photo, this big controversy sparked an idea in our head to make this content - 5 Things That US-UK Stars Can Freely Do But Kpop Idols CAN ABSOLUTELY NOT! - to further discuss the differences between a Kpop idol's life and a US-UK star's life. Because though both are public figures, it seems that US-UK artists just have much more freedom in doing certain things than Kpop idols.
Let's dive into our video to find out which 5 things celebrities in the West can do on a daily basis, but Kpop idols will immediately be condemned if they dare to do the same.

Well there human too.they can do whatever they want except for one thing smoking. Smoking in general shouldn’t be normalize as it will not only effect the person but also the pp who r with them.also kpop fans r like really young many of them r 9,10,11 to 17,18 years old as my self a teen and many of them come to fan meeting and concert so it be a bad influence for them if idol is doing it publicly. As far as a Idol is doing it privately iam fine.

Miley Cyrus had to do pole dance for people to freak out and eventually get her out of the Disney "Idol" mold, Katy Perry had to sing about lesbian love to get out of the "Christian church girl" mold and many more artist have had to do that in the west to be more respected in their individual decisions.

And it's not even a matter or society, smoking, clubbing and dating are common parts of Korean life, the industry just wants to capitalize on young teens (mainly girls) by projecting the perfect boyfriend image onto their artists. Meanwhile, in kpop people like to boast about having more devoted fandoms compared to western artists' fandoms, and yet, the simplest mistake and k-pop fans are the first to turn their back on their idols. The fact that they're referred to as idols is a red flag since forever....

The main reason is probably that
The way Kpop develops, the idols are shown to have complete devotion to fans only. A exclusive label is placed on the idols to fans alone.
The Kpop fans have too much privilege and many deluded ones who assume the idol as theirs or something like he/she belongs to all, like some sort of public object.

1:36 “image of a sweet and warm hearted boy” really?? I’ve felt like since 2018 Tae’s given off the very classic manly image. His style, love of suits, jazz, vintage things. He seems like the kind of guy who smokes cigars. We knew he vapes so I think most people surprised by this are probably new armys or quite naive. Also there are many sweet warm hearted people who smoke. Nice people can do things that are bad for their health, you know.

    • @TheRealRingwanderung
      @TheRealRingwanderung 2 роки тому +25

Back in their early years of becoming idols, Tae really took on a sweet and innocent persona. If you told an army at that point that he smokes, they'd think you're crazy, me included. The sudden change in the way he presents himself now is a shock to older army's, especially the vaping. So the surprise is not limited to new army's. I myself became an army during the Blood Sweat and Tears era, so I got to experience Tae's change as a person first hand.

That’s when his style changed a lot too. 2017/2018 he started choosing his words more carefully and stopped goofing around as much. By 2020, the boyishness was gone. He’s still sweet and kind but he’s a 26 year old adult man, not an innocent boy. He had the vaping “scandal” 4 years ago now! This change wasn’t sudden, it’s been years in the making.

Though she is still very much criticized for her dating profile, however even though she's currently in a relationship for like 4yrs now, she's not losing fans bc of it. Or like no one is burning her merch when it was confirmed that her and Joe Alwyn were dating.
I think the most criticism she got when it was announced that dating Harry. All because during that time, she was already known for writing breakup songs. But before that, she wasn't criticized for dating joe jonas, connor ect, because its normal for celebrities to date in the west.

I think the big difference between artist in the US and UK and artists from South Korean is how they are seen by fans. I think the Korean idols are more idealized whereas in the US we've seen our celebrities at their best and worst so we accept that they are human. The prevalence of tabloid magazines, tell all books, and interviews gives us much more insight into their personal lives. It seems like Kpop idols are a lot more closed off so the fantasy around them prevails over the idea of them as real people.

Someone who works a lot with kpop idols once said about them:
"They’re like Barbie and Ken dolls made on a conveyor belt. They can’t decide on their own lives, all they have to do is be perfect, as fans expect them to be. They can’t date because they have to maintain the appearance that they are ‘in love’ with their fans, they only have their fans. They don't need anyone else. But let me ask, if we look only at the lifestyles of healthy young people, do they have no needs? I mean, sexual, emotional needs, or do they just need a little freedom? Please let them be humans, they are not dolls, they are people who were not made on a conveyor belt."

Plus, it's dispatch. Sometimes they aren't even sure what they're talking and posting about without proper evidence. All they showed were a picture of the bars they allegedly went to without the said idols in the picture. Dispatch would always include the idol's faces in the articles they post and just because they allegedly went to 3 bars doesn't mean dispatch can't fabricate them. Those idols didn't even have the chance to speak about it, explain and their companies straight up made them apologies without defending them. Most of the time the companies won't even try to protect their idols. Also why would they go to 3 bars when they can just stay at the first bar they went. During that time of the pandemic everyone were very busy and the idols' schedules became even more hectic so do they even have the time to visit all 3 bars? The 97 liners mostly drink in restaurants if ever you've seen their photos.

Meanwhile you have rappers that have 10 baby mamas in a year and let’s not forget about the old rock gods with their armies of groupies. • @AsimoTan
      @AsimoTan 2 роки тому +8

      @@laterwoo I don't support drinking as well 🤷‍♂️.
I was a cancer researcher in the past and both smoking and drinking are the leading causes for non-idiopathic cancer, amounting to more than 50% of the cases. Smoking, iirc, leads to a third of the non-idiopathic cancer cases in the world.
Lung cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the world and one that leads to the most deaths (breast and prostate cancers are also quite common but their mortality rates are lower).
At any rate, the main difference between smoking and drinking is that smoking causes people who don't actively smoke to smoke. It's imposing bad life choices on others.
I also condemn societies with drinking cultures such as Korea. No double standard here.

Honestly I don't care about the plastic surgery thing if it makes you Happy it makes you feel better and give you confidence go for it but I do think you they should draw a line and not overdo it but other than that I'm fine with it, the smoking thing I smoked when I was young and I quit when I was young but I can guarantee you I did not start smoking from seeing a celebrity on TV it was because of the people I hung out with and was surrounded by, I generally do not believe that people would do anything they see on TV maybe little kids but I don't think they have been to twice about smoking, it's like when parents jump to conclusions and think that the kids have committed suicide by watching this series or this movie but the truth is they kid already have the thought of committing suicide they probably got an idea on how to do it and was trying to figure out which way to do it, but I can guarantee you that was already in their mindset, they already planned on doing it it's just a guy idea on how to do it, but from my opinion I think maybe it's because the parents in Korea or in asia. Or too involved in idols live just as much as the teenagers and any 20 year old that they truly believe that they kids will do something by watching their favorite idols which is not true I think it's because parents are so heavily influenced and so involved with the kids watch that they kids can literally look at them and lie straight to their face and said they doing this because their favorite idols doing it but the truth is it has to be someone that they're hanging out with in socializing with it literally has to be someone that they're surrounding themselves with to influence them in person, I promise it is never a celebrity on TV it's literally someone that they hang out with on a daily basis that's influencing them and they need to realize that just because they see a celebrity doing it that they kids going to do it too if they didn't raise their kids to be smart enough not to do something like that they went wrong as parents not the idols.

I think that a lot of what is being forced onto the idols come from the public and the companies mirror some of those somewhat insane views in error.
Question: Do the public and Fans abide by those same rules they try to force on the Idols and Companies representing those Idols? No, I don't think so. It's easier to point fingers and accuse, rather than to follow good advice for themselves.
Smoking? I am a smoker however I wish I never started. I know what smoking does to my body and that awful smell lingers on everything. Idols smoking? More of an impact on their health, breath intake while sing and dancing, cuts down on the oxygen in their body, causes more health issues, suppresses appetite, that smell, etc. However, smoking is triggered by stress. Solution? Get rid of the stress. Company should help resolve it since they obviously want full control of the idol's actions. Suggestion? Nicorette Gum/Nicotine Gum.
Partying At Clubs? Understandable. I've party hard starting "later in life", then went "Cold Turkey". Saved Money and avoided "less than reputable" people. However, I discovered that a large amount of "acquaintances" were fiercely protective of me, along with the owners of the establishments. Yes, shocked me as well.
However, maybe the Companies could band together and provide "a safe haven" that could be more controlled to a certain extent?? NO ONE BUT IDOLS ADMITTED WITH APPROVED RSVP. HIRE TRUSTED EMPLOYEES TO SERVE AT THE CLUB. CELL PHONE CHECK AT DOOR. STAFF DRIVERS ON DUTY. NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS TO UNDERAGES. MAX CAP BASED ON BMI OF EACH IDOL. Why won't they do that? Oh! I forgot, the Executives tend to be Greedy Pigs who don't follow by their own rules.
Puk Jun Young??? What a Double-standard Mess. Prior "Scandal Video" = Boy got girl Prego, sent girl for abortion, boy tried to get sexy with his ex-wife, girl came back home, working as an Idol, boy continued (?) as Idol, and no explanations to the public. Yea....that Executive is "pure as the white driven snow". LOL!!!
!!!!!Practice what YOU Preach!!!!!, for ALL "your standards".
Doing Plastic Surgery? Yeah, way too much involvement from the public. Public and Fans forget that procedures in that profession are really, really expensive. So where did THE MONEY come from??? Since it was already exposed a number of times in previous videos....."Who has complete control over their idols?" (eat/sleep/work/appearances/repeat, repeat, repeat); "Who doesn't give more money than they have to, for the care of and any profit-sharing to their idols?" (Idols are forced to cohabitate in the same residence for how many years? Wages withheld for how long? )...."Who would benefit more to the changing of their employees look if it got them more money?" (Dress him like this even if one of the others in the group has identical an outfit at the awards ceremony (medium lilac and orange/tan suit.....oh yea, and one smoked because of stress), change all of their group stage outfits to that (too provocative? we need that attention), I don't like his hair color, her hair style, her body weight (change it), No facial hair! Order him to shave (or he doesn't get a paycheck this month), if you hear any complaints....we just won't promote them anymore).
Yeah, WHO? Couldn't be the Idols.....they have too much to lose. Idols who have rich parents???? NOT even. Those wealthy parents would've selected their children's company (with lawyers present), not the "other way around".
"Companies" even force the Idols to work when they are sick, released from the hospital, suffered a death in the family, haven't eaten for days, etc, etc, etc.
Dating? The Companies and the Fans/Public are way too involved again. Is that why Puk Jun Young is divorced now? Or is that just another one of his "Double-standards"?
"Don't do as I do, do as I say."
The Fans/Public don't want their Idols to date because in their minds, that Idol will marry them? NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Come back to reality. Even Idols holding hands is frowned upon! Wrist holding is preferred. Crucify any Idol that hugs another, even if they are happy, just won a major award, or they actually ARE siblings!!
'Did you see that? They just hugged! They must be dating!! How vulgar! Will they get pregnant? That's gross! The world is going to end!!!'
WAY TOO INTRUSIVE, OBSESSIVE AND CONTROLLING.
Does the Public do this to their own children? NO, they're too busy trying to find the right life partner for them. Even make deals for "arranged marriages", yes it's "selling their kids".....still to present day. It's not like they "love their children anymore", it's more like "how do I profit from this too?"
Getting Married? See above for the most part. Company Executives want to own their Idols in every way possible. It doesn't help when the Fans/Public ultimately support that, by complaining and pointing fingers, and throwing fits. Then the Companies blame the Idols for loss of profits when the Company was planning on getting rid of the Idol as "they were getting too old" or "losing full control". But the Fans/Public again are WAY TOO INTRUSIVE, OBSESSED AND CONTROLLING AS WELL.
Idol who didn't let his fans know he was getting married?? Good move for his privacy was protected and his sanity. No obsessed fans invited themselves to the festivities. YES, OBSESSED. Upset that some of their gifts were given to his spouse? Yes, every male idol who only wears one set of earrings needs an Earring Tree that hold 12 pairs!! Please notice, he didn't throw them out, he respected your gift and gave it to someone who could use it and take care of it. He showed YOU honor.
Does getting married affect one's singing ability?? I know age does, physical changes does, ailments, nodes on vocal chords.....but marriage??? NOPE.
Too bad that way too much money is spent needlessly from obsessed fans who even sacrifice themselves food to give generously to an Idol. Every country around the world has orphans, handicapped, uncared for children, the homeless, starving human beings......why not give wisely??
    Thanks for your video!

I think the fact that they are referred to as idols (instead of artists) says enough about how they are viewed

Why KPOP idols gets too much critisism. Is a self explanatory KNets are to BLAME and influencing other nationalities to follow their kind of MINDSET. A boxed, shallow, selfish and immature thinking.

Maybe that’s why there are called as idols, the person we look up to and celebrities?!
As an idol you should inspire your fans to achieve their goals or dreams
That is why they’re called ad K-pop IDOL
It’s totally fine to date! But smoking and alcohol is not good for the idols nor their fans
As an idol in Korea people will do anything that their idol does! Like if an idol buys a particular brand of chocolate that chocolate will be sold out the next day
In these situations, this will badly influence the younger viewers and affect their health too!
I think that is why companies don’t alllow them to do theses things🤷‍♀️

Yes idols should be careful as alot of thier fans are very young and its important to set an example for them. But these stars weather they are from America, Asia or timbuck two are human just like anybody else. Some kpop fans have an unhealthy view of thier idols and I just think they need to realise that thier idols deserve happiness in thier lives as well. It's rediculous that they get bashed because they have found someone they love. That's not being a true fan to me, you would be whole heartedly happy for them, and its selfish if you think they should be single for you for ever, separate fantasy from reality because when you don't your only hurting yourself and your idol as well. We all are only human after all.

Because alot of kpop fans take idols as their private property or puppet who fulfil their wishes
They ask for respect but don't know how to give respect
K-pop idols survive cause there r some fans who treat them like humans with emotion and feeling thank to all those K-pop fans that we able to enjoy kpop

1 thing i have to say as someone who isn't an army i think this is the fault of whoever took the photo i mean "setting a bad image to younger audience" while its true its still not his fault if whoever took the photo didnt do this this wouldn't have happened in the first place nor any other situations regarding other idols smoking or going to clubs 🤨

I still remember how got7's or exo ( I don't remember ) korean fans said that they shouldn't marry or date someone they have fans and jyp said they( idols ) can't live alone all their life and those girls went wild 💀💀

Clubbing and dating should really not be an issue for their fans. Fans are not likely to date them, so they should think about if they weren't allowed to date or go to clubs and how that would make them feel.

idols show good ways for the society on screen. but they are also humans so they can smoke , drink , have relationships and blah blah.....in their free time or backstages
people should stop controlling the korean idols , while the Westerners are living so damn freely both on and off screens.

"Passionately emitting smoke" ...? How does one day that? Thought that was funny. It's his body, and we can't tell the *man* what to do. Man is the operative word. He's grown. Nothing you say it's going to convince him to stop smoking. He will have to want to do it himself. I know a lot of people are concerned for his health, but I am almost 100% sure V knows the dangers of smoking.

  • @rithu5511

half of the K-pop fans are teenagers, so Taehyung should not smoke?! But Fanfics are okay?!🤷‍♀️
Where the hell are the teenagers now?! I’m pretty sure that 80%of the ff accounts are teenagers
It’s disgusting! Seriously like an idol because they make good music and because of their characteristics
We have gotta protect 4th gen idols from being sexualised
Yes yes there are warning saying we are not sexualising the idol it’s just imagining? Like what !would you like if someone does some dirty things imagining about you ?
Before reading or watching those ugly things please think about how YOUR IDOLS would FEEL!

Maybe they more expectations to kpop idols that's why they are more concerns or more criticism that they express to kpop artist Or they doesn't want the image of kpop idols to be ruined. And about the other country, they have different perspective or opinion about that issues or concerns.

I think kpop idols should be free like US-UK idols because its their decision to do what ever they want right? and I hope they stop taking pics of an idol doing their stuffs because its really private, unless its more intentional to people and fans
