Got a question for you. Can a fully analog pedal do digital presets inside of the pedal? So just Analog but have like 10-whatever presets that are saved on that pedal digitally.
Thanks if you have time to answer the question. =D

It's common knowledge to people "in the know" that people had much larger feet in the 70's. Just look at those "keep on truckin'" shirts that were so popular. The 80's came and all the cocaine shrunk our feet back to normal size. The history channel did a show on this, you must have missed it.

@Ben Hackett you are half right, acid and mushrooms make your feet longer thus all the stumbling around, however marijuana makes your feet wider and improves balance. Can you imagine?? Imagine having the G.A.S. you currently have, and then having a little backyard business you started go big...and then, not only will you G..A.S. spending sprees go unquestioned, but it will pretty much be expected - from a business standpoint!!

Here's an idea: in the mode of Willy Wonka, you place golden tickets in the enclosures of five JHS pedals. The purchasers of those pedals get to come to JHS headquarters for a tour. This would make for a great episode, especially if you can figure out a way to turn one of the winners into a giant human blueberry (but I'll leave that to your discretion).

Definitely my favorite is Double Nickles on the Dime by the Minutemen. Double album with 43 tracks, all but two of which have a runtime of under two and a half minutes. @markhammer643 4 роки тому +2

Bear in mind that, in the '60s and '70s, a "pedalboard" was likely to consist of maybe 3 or 4 pedals, sitting on the floor. The need for compactness didn't really emerge until the late '80s as people started to actually *have* pedalboards with a dozen or more devices needing to fit in a defined space, rather than sprawled out on a rug.
Also worth noting that, while 1/4W resistors and DIP op-amps have not changed size in 50 years, electrolytic caps have shrunk dramatically during that period, as have pots. A 10uf/16V cap from 1968 is about the size of a 470uf/63V unit from today. That played a role in obliging big enclosures. Many of the early MXR pedals used tantalum caps. Why? Because you could easily lie them on their side, such that they could fit in a small chassis that wasn't so tall to accommodate electros standing up tall.

Back in the early Eighties, pedals cost just about what they run now, but the money wasn't quite as cheap. • @markhammer643

@@hoboroadie Indeed, a great many pedals lacked any sort of jack for being externally powered. Just today, I saw an ad for a Proco Rat 2, in which the seller made clear he was including a dongle to connect an external supply up to the 9V battery snap inside.

      @markhammer643 4 роки тому

@@Aleph_Null_Audio Also quite true. Certainly the availability of small enclosures has been a boon to reducing pedal size, but those smaller enclosures could only have uptake because so many other factors - smaller caps, pots, switches, and double-sided boards - made smaller effects possible. And once surface-mount became available, things shrunk even further.

It's obviously a copy and he has not been bashful about saying that, but they aren't producing it, so where's the problem? Maybe some proceeds should go towards the engineers and creators? Obviously Josh has no legal requirement to do that, its a great gig remaking pedals that aren't being made as the circuits are generally not protected, and anyone can reproduce them.

As a child born in 1991, I was raised in middle America, as the middle child, in a middle class family. Being in the bible belt, I was raised on Christian music. My dad worked for our church as the sound/tech guy and my mom ran the church's daycare for a time, worked the church library and many other volunteer positions, along with home schooling us 3 kids. In 2004, my parents divorced and sent my world as I knew it way out into the great beyond. My dad grew up on what we know to be Classic Rock, so when his now angsty teen who was tossed into the middle of public middle school, he did what any parent would do, introduced me to Van Halen's first album and Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon. My musical tastes being forever changed from our local Christian radio station to, "Everything that rocks," as another local station puts it, I wanted more. This all being said, Pink Floyd's The Wall was the first big album that I fell in love with. I listened to it over and over. My dad and I watched the movie. We watched Roger Water's version of it. It holds a special place in my life, because I can only imagine that my dad and I share the same fondness of it, he just got to hear it when it first came out.

Record time: Chicago by Chicago ( their second album, sometimes referred to as Chicago II). Not as raw as their first album (also a double album) but certainly does more things for me, a sucker for pop sensitivity. They also seemed to get the memo that The Beatles were not going back together, so they went almost full on Beatles-mode with horns.

In my day job, I teach English and computer skills to refugees in Boise. Yesterday the students had some free time on the computers and all of a sudden I hear the JHS vlog theme from across the room. I look over and one of the students from the Congo is whatching this video and looking interested but very confused. Apparently I forgot to log out of my google account on that computer and because you're like one of my fav. channels I subscribe to, this video was at the top of my youtube page. I was busy helping someone else out so the video ran until you were done playing with the first fuzz and then I switched it to the ESL video he was looking for. By that point like 2 or 3 other students were watching over his shoulders as well. When I switched the video, the students' faces had a combo of relief, interest, and vague amusement. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know how far your videos are reaching, even by accident :P

I think the original Univibes was large out of necessity... Their predecessors, the Psychadelic Machine (by Honey, then Shin Ei) were so big, they had to make it a stand alone unit that went on top of your amp. If you’ve never seen one, check them out here on UA-cam. It’s a superb vibe and a pretty gnarly fuzz in one box.

Now you have opened up my world to your world of pedals.i am a 68 year old,blues/rock guitarist. You are not supposed to be able to teach an old dog new tricks!! Not only do the pedals add great sounds to guitar playing they have collectable niche component to them. Two weeks ago I had one pedal that I have never used....now I have just purchased 5 pedals, including a JHS Clover!. Is there pedal addiction rehabilitation available? I know this is out of place here but it has to do with Spring Reverb Tanks in pedals or amps. OMG the old Grey Tuck & Roll Kustom 100 Watt SS Combo Amp had a massive and equally noisie Reverb Tank that was so sensitive that it would sound like it was exploding or thunder & lightning strike if you just tapped the amp. That amp ruined a lot of recordings, so I quit using the amps Reverb Tank and started using reverb tanks and reverb effects pedals outside the amp. I finally took the Kustom Reverb Tanks out of the amp and made my own patch to the unit and a patch switch box and put the reverb tank in a box and suspended it within the box using recording mic shock mounts. Then a playing buddy blew the cones out of the front of the face grill literally. I traded the amp for a Fender 65' Twin Reverb and a C Note ! ! ! Effects from yesteryears ??? WoW, that's a lots of Big Gear ago & now I gotta use readers to find my gear and settings and be careful that I don't stomp my boxes to death ! ! ! 😁
      Peace & Play On . . . 🎸 😎 DDH 10-3-2019

I still listen to Melon Collie on a regular basis. The best thing about it is how, when it first came out, I would listen to the singles: Zero, Bullet, Tonight but as I got older (and more musically aware?) songs like Stumbleine, Porcelina of the Vast Oceans, Thru the Eyes of Ruby became my favourites ... and of course, Lily - such a sly song. Whatever his faults, Billy can write a song.
I'm going to cheat for big album and say, the still in my possession from 1990, Remasters - Led Zeppelin. I still remember the day I pulled the plastic off that TRIPLE LP and putting the needle down to hear the first notes of Communication Breakdown. Great day.

Hey! Long time listener, first time caller. I have 2 topic ideas. First off, as a bassist (sometimes Bass VI), I'll get in line to mention the lack of quality bass vids on UA-cam. But I think, if and when you were to do any, do not shovel 23 topics into one 'bass' video, and drop it. Be specific. A video about modulation on bass, reverb and delay, stacking combos for bass, etc. Something bassists can sink their teeth into with each video.
Second idea. A video showcasing all the wild and wacky pedals that people deem to weird to actually use in a serious fashion. Any pedal has a purpose in the right setting and genre. Make people give the oddball pedals a second look.
