I am British mate and I don't care what countries military anyone was in, the number 1 priority of any government is to look after and take care of their military Veterans, financially, mentally, physically and whatever they need to help them and not to just throw them aside and forget about them. Here in the UK I support a charity to help Veterans by helping them physically, mentally, financially and the charity has even built houses to form a Veteran housing estate for veterans weather able bodied or with disabilities. If you are married with kids it would be your family home, if you are single you still get a similar property with fellow military Veterans living next door to you and around the street. It's down to charities but the government should do what the charities are doing as it was the government that send their military into wars or conflicts not ordinary civilians and other veterans. Just a few months ago my best friend, best man at my wedding and I at his both many years ago, jumped off a bridge because his wife kicked him out of their house because his PTSD was getting worse and she feared for their children. I understand where she was coming from and don't hold it against her but it still hurts a great deal that they both had to deal with that situation.

Active military here, 12 years in, 3 deployments and my ex wife was cheating on me during my second deployment. Sent me down a mental health spiral and I nearly lost my own life. I almost left behind my family and my 7 year old daughter. Since then I have become a huge advocate of seeking mental health treatment, but I am still haunted to this day from suicide. I have had 3 troops of mine attempt suicide and I was the one to find them and take them to get treatment or call paramedics to save them. The images still haunt me to this day, because the last troop I saved was not even 6 months ago. I hope anyone who is struggling, not just military members seeks help when they need it.

My cousin is a marine that lost his life in Iraq in 2003. He left behind a wife and 2 small boys. That is heartbreaking enough but then I went to his funeral. I saw his brothers, these warrior men bent down weeping at the casket of their fallen brother. It immediately hits you that these young men will never be the same after loosing their brothers and seeing the things they have seen. That's happening all over this country. The fact that there isn't more help for these men and the families of the fallen angers me. We send so much money overseas when we have heroes and their families suffering here at home. We need to do everything in our power to keep these boys out of war but if we must send them to fight we need to invest the money into the resources they need when they come home. These men are the reason we get to sleep safe at night in our homes. NOT A SINGLE ONE SHOULD BE LEFT OUT ON THE STREET TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES.
Rest in peace lcpl Donald Cline and all of our fallen heroes.

Am truly sorry for your and your family’s loss, you lost a true man, I’m sad we lost yet another brother, USMC, 05-2010. Of I could have provodenfornher, for life, with no matting for me, she and his kids deserve that. Sadly I can’t, or many others.

When I saw his brothers, these battle hardened warriors weeping at his casket I knew they would never be the same. It breaks my heart that politicians so easily send these young men to fight and loose their lives on foreign soil. Then we send a ton of money overseas to other countries instead of taking care of these heroes who made it home. Rest in peace to all of the fallen. Indeed, so sad, almost ate my 1911, a few times. Iraq and Afghanistan here, camp bastion during the surge with barely 100 Marines there at the time, well US types. The onlykind of Marine. But yeah, I feel ya. Been there done that, sadly. I spiraled hard and far down, until mid to late 2012. And the part of that vod that showed cops flanking him while he smoked, that’s when I lit a new smoke…and you did not want to be the ones to sneak up/flank me…as you are trying to kill me, and I’d treat you as such. The fight of your life if you dared pursue me then. As you are trying to flank and kill me, so I will kill you, unless you’d too fighting me. Cops found out real quick where I lived; leave me alone then; as I didn’t start fights, but god for if you start one and try to tase. Mace, or control me, as now you an enemy trying to interrogate me. And I will not be taken alive, period. That’s the world I go into, right or wrong. And try to detain me, you will die: as you are the enemy, unquestionably who is trying to extract knowledge from me, and take my honor, will not happen, ever. Like any good Marine, they quickly found out, try to detain and subdue me; I fight to the death, cannot be stopped, will not be stopped, as now you are an enemy of America, seeking intelligence. Tases, mace and people will not stop me, made one cop eat his entire bottle of mace as I rammed it down his throat. Bit another one, tried stabbing another. And kneed, punched, kicked, tried choking all the others, they couldn’t cuff me, tasers and mace only pissed me off, but they kept deciding to detain me, instead of leaving me alone, like I told them, after I got jumped by 4 people and told them the fuck off, go away, don’t need or want you as I was technically homeless. But oh, no, wannabe bully badasses wanted to keep fucking with me for zero reason after told them to fuck off. To their face. Yeah, those 4 people who jumped me and 4 of those dumbass cols left In ambulances, broken.
Veteran here.. I did 5 and half years in. I gave up my wife my daughter for this country. At one point I couldn't understand why no one could relate with me just look at me like I was some kind of tool or something. I just wanted the pain to end I wanted the looks to end. So I drank. Then my baby brother had his first son and asked me to be the godfather. I cleaned up and changed my life because I knew from then on I had to be there for him for his boys. now my daughter talks to me I have 3 god sons and life is good

As a combat vet of both Iraq and Afghanistan I can tell you honestly we who served in combat will never forget what we have seen. The problem is how we choose to deal with it. I hid my nightmares and sleepless nights from everyone after I came back home. Luckily another vet caught on to the signs I was showing of ptsd and survivors guilt.
I did the same, I tried to run and hide from the PTSD, depression, anger, anxiety and I almost lost the fight. On several occasions I almost became a statistic. I finally got help and I got a service dog on the recommendation of my mental health provider and it was the best decision I ever made. I don't know what I would do without him.
This was a touching reaction by someone who isnt American. Thank you for caring. Our veterans need to be treated better by our government. Thanks to all who have served. We love you.

I was an active army combat medic for 21 years, recently retired (2019). I met my wife in Central America when I was stationed there between deployment to Iraq, 20 years married now, she is Honduran and calls me Hillbilly still today 😂. Love five finger death punch❤

WOW 400 million views First time I have heard this and it's a great message. I lost friends in the war too. Veterans in the US are not taken care of as they should be. The Vietnam War was a very black time in the US. Many soldiers came home treated badly. They were looked down on and yes many took their own lives. They could not find work, became homeless, and addicted to drugs. Of all the wars Vietnam Veteran's, I respect the most.
100% right. My dad got off his ship in Norfolk after seeing action in Vietnam, after being on the ship for almost 2 years, just to have assholes waiting to spit on the men. And yes, he did get spat on. Hard lessons learned in the 70's thanks to disgusting wastes of flesh disrespecting the men that serve. For another sad story of the Navy trying to ignore their own...check out the story of the USS Newport News, CA-148. Good men lost their lives because the navy gave them WWII era, unchecked munitions. An 8in shell detonated in breach killing all men in the turret. Was the navy's fault for not checking detonator fuses. So what do they do? Decommission the ship, put it in mothballs immediately, then sell it for scrap. If not for a memorial on the USS Salem, the deaths would be COMPLETELY ignored. Always honor those who survived war, and certainly those that didn't come home. We're getting better at this, but MUST do better still

I'm an old fourth generation vet, with TBI and PTSD, was homeless for over three years, now I exist under a VA program for homeless vets. Spend the majority of the time alone and wake most mornings thinking shit another day. It just is what it is. Salute my brother and sister veterans.

As an Army Veteran myself it amazes me how many people who never served a single day in their lives hear a song like this and can leave comments like "oh it's not like that" or "it's being exaggerated"! I just tell them when you know, you know! I came home in February 2004 and haven't had a full nights sleep since! I live on medication..
I'm a veteran that spent 30 years serving my country and would do it again in a heartbeat each man and woman that signs an enlistment contract does not know what the future holds because the politicians keep putting us in these wars around the world they don't care what happens to us because their lives are not in harm's Way and a lot of these politicians are getting paid by the weapons manufacturers when there's a war somewhere in the world because we need the weapons to fight the war with I struggle everyday with PTSD and I will for the rest of my life and the images that are in my head when I close my eyes to go to sleep. The government used us to serve and protect our country when we came home they threw us away like trash and I appreciate this band for putting the video together this powerful with this message. In 2018 the department of defense released a statistic that was disgusting 851 American soldiers they're taking their lives that had served in war answer me that should have never happened the government should have had programs to help soldiers transitioning back to the United States being around their families and people that are not trying to harm them but as always veterans are seeing the government doesn't give a damn about us as long as we can keep fighting and making their bank accounts bigger.

Very few people could understand the pain of looking someone's family in the eye, and promise to bring their son home and then fail to do so. I'll remember their looks till the day I die. Rest in peace fallen brothers of 2nd LAR, you were warriors till the end. We miss and love you.
Thanks for doing this reaction. Like others have commented, this video is over a decade old and all of those statistics are now much worse. I served in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman. In the last year, I can think of at least 6 guys I served with that have taken their own lives. We just don't get any consistent help from our government. We rarely keep the same doctor so every time we get a new one, we have to bring the new one up to speed. Our Veterans Administration healthcare is sub-par and just a nightmare to navigate. My wife is an Air Force veteran and has been struggling for the last two years. She can't really walk on her own anymore due to a back injury and some other things that have yet to be diagnosed by the VA. This won't mean much to you, but the other guys here will get it. She is rated 100% Totally and Permanently Disabled by the VA. They are supposed to take care of everything. It took them over a year to even really try to start figuring out what is going on with her. She needed a power mobility chair (power wheelchair basically) so she could get around the house and do things that a normal 44 year old woman would want to do. She loves to cook, but couldn't because she couldn't stand in the kitchen. The VA refused to buy her the chair. Instead, they offered her a "Power Scooter" which won't work inside a house at all. It is too big. I had to take our own savings and buy her the chair that the government who broke her wouldn't. They still haven't figured out what is going on with her and after 3 months, she got another new doctor. It's ridiculous. Any issues I have due to my service pale in comparison to what she has going on.
Anyway, thank you again for doing this reaction. Your raw emotions were obvious and it's nice to see someone who genuinely gives a shit when they get a small glimpse into the reality of what a lot of us go through.

Thank you for the reaction. I am a Desert Shield/Desert Storm Vet. I was on the ground for the whole campaign. I was there 1 month before Desert Shield and left 3 months after Desert Storm. Being a vet that is discarded is really hard. I had family to help and so many didn't have a support system. It has gotten a little better since my time, not much, just a little. We need more help for vets.
Some vidoes are just insanely important.

Hey Steph, active military here I was a marine for 16 years, now Im a Navy special op , on my 7th year , thanks for your true reaction , I think this video is so important even thou its almost 10 years old , today the number are even higher , i cant speak or go into details , but i think is very important , just by what u did u open a eyes to a audience that see us like a no soul human, we struggle everyday , they things we see , witness , no one should endure this , but i do because i love my COUNTRY might not be in the same page with the administration but thats far as i will go.
i think if all creators come together and speak about this the world will see our side.
In the end the last scene where the medic finds the Special Forces operator shows us we Veterans have to take care of our own. No one else will or can.

Steph in war it is a given someone is going to have to take a life. Taking a life is never a good thing. Ever. But after all the near misses of death and having to take a life to stay alive coming home is the hardest thing anyone could ever do. The sounds, people, and the fact of being misunderstood is very hard. A lot of people thinks that war doesn’t and shouldn’t change who a person is. The hard reality is that it will change anyone. I have brothers that didn’t make it back home with me. This is as far as I can go without getting emotional. Take care and thank you for this reaction.
Five Finger Death Punch has written quite a few songs like this. Very powerful lyrics and videos like Gone Away, Remember Everything, and Coming Down. There are others, but these songs are amazing. Songs about mental health issues, you can listen to Amity Affliction and songs like All Fu**ed Up, Like Love, Don't Lean on Me and Not Without My Ghosts. Another group mentioning is Dream Theater and they have s song called The Enemy Inside, that talks about soldiers and PTSD they deal with. Appreciate you listening to this song.

As a vet, yeah, a lot of us got really screwed. I spent 2 years homeless and addicted to alcohol to cope. Unfortunately, the government doesn't care about broken soldiers. Despite everything, the things that haunt me are seeing my friends die. I can live with my injuries, but 2 of my closest friends lost their lives to IEDs. The sights, smells, and sounds I can never shake.
I serve for 40 years now. Still 2 years to go. From 1984 till 2026. I am an Yougoslavia and Afghanistan airforce (Force Protection) veteran from the Netherlands

I did 4 years as Army military police. I have lost several good friends and brothers. Most of them by their own hand.
There are days when it would be so much easier to follow them than trying to stay here. It gets harder to stay.

I know you are young and not from America. My father was on the front lines of the Korean conflict. When he died a few years back he still wouldn't talk about it. If he wouldn't of talked me out of it i would of sind up in 91. I still regret that i didn't. He all was told me he seen more death then any family should see. And yet at 50 years old I still regret not signing up. Thank you veterans and I appreciate all of you.
This song release date was July 30, 2013... and by then they said that the number keeps increasing, now 2024.... makes you wonder how many they are now...
The reality is we as American civilians don’t know how to truly help veterans especially combat veterans. We love and celebrate our soldiers but we simply don’t know how to deal with our veterans. That in itself is horrible, most combat veterans I’ve known (and it’s a lot) have needed to be heavily medicated to the point of damn near being zombies. The reality is once a soldier is discharged from the military, combat or not, they need to readjust to civilian life. They don’t get that here. It’s real easy to say they need this and that and grandstand on it but getting that for them has almost a lost cause.
Most other countries as I understand it have very dedicated healthcare just for veterans to make sure they are readjusting to civilian life with most of it being mental health. Now while we have that here in the US it’s not long term here it needs to be.
My grandfather served in the navy in the South Pacific during WWII on the surface he seemed to have readjusted to civilian life but when I would talk to my mother about him she would tell me about him waking up drenched in sweat or screaming. Point blank that’s shell shock or what has become known as PTSD and I’ve seen this with practically every combat veteran I’ve known. Mainly Nam vets that just to function would have to be incredibly stoned and to help offset the flash backs where in a couple of occasions they’ve attacked their families thinking they were in combat. So the simple solution is to get them much more dedicated mental health for much more extended periods of time. I would say make it mandatory but people automatically think the worst when you say that but they’re missing the point. Vets need to feel comfortable with the people trying to help them so they can open up about their service. That takes time, a lot of time and no two vets are the same so their treatment has to be adaptive which it is not. They also need staff that checks up on them in the world to make sure they are doing ok which they don’t do. Most importantly they need to help veterans know they’re safe and we’ve got their back’s which is fifty fifty at best.
Simply put there needs to be a lot of improvements made for the veterans that served. It’s that simple

FFDP is an amazing band. I have to fight with my co-workers for the day off anytime they have a concert within 150 miles of us. My manager has went to 3 concerts so far, I have yet to get to go to one. The first 3 or 4 requests get honored, the rest get ignored, I am sadly usually one of the last to know on the team. I will get it one day.

My brother served in Afghanistan..2 tours.. I drove across three states at 95mph on the phone with my brother to try and get to him before he ended his life.. I didnt make it.. They deserve better...
In America, what they do isn’t sad, but heroic they are heroes and I wish they would be taken care of in every way.
The worst part for me wasn’t dealing with the VA, or adjusting to civilian life, it was when the greasy lawyer my sons mom hired was grilling me on the witness stand for 2 days trying to use my PTSD diagnosis and what I went through against me in court. He was trying to make me look like a mentally unstable monster, claiming I am a danger to everyone around me, and using my military service as a weapon against me to take my son away. I am a combat vet with 3 deployments, but I’m also a loving father. I’m not a violent man, I have never even been arrested. Through all the lies, stealing thousands from me, hell even when I caught her cheating multiple times and finding out that my son might not even be mine, I have never lifted a finger towards her. Words can’t describe how how that made me feel.
That little boy is the only reason I’m alive today.

This song hit hard for me. Everyone in my family served. My dad is a Marine, my grandfather on my dad's side is Retired US Sergeant Army WW2 veteran and faught on Okinawa Lety. My grandfather on my mother's side retired US Air Force and Secret Service member.
My cousin 82Nd Airborne division my uncle US Army Vietnam. My other cousin Army Special Forces Green Beret
And me CMS Civilian Military Service 4 years as well as 4 years Military school and Army JROTC. so a total of 12 years.
You look at these statistics and it hurts. Every one of these statistics is a human being. A person, a child, a father, a brother. It's too much to even think about. My little brother is one of those who took their own life. I watched my mother lose her youngest son. I don't think there is a more heart wrenching thing to witness. But I am still here, and I have to do what I can to help those I can.
We have support organizations but it’s hard to fix addiction and the mental illness that can arise from seeing the things they’ve seen.
I met a guy that survived an attack that many other lost their lives in. It was all very hard to hear much less actually experiencing it.

My grandfather is a tabker veteran he said that they which im assuming is the military didnt have good enough earprotection back when he was young he blew his back so he either uses a cane to walk or a driving cart thing to get around he has trouble breathing sometimes too me and my family moved back home to Fort Bliss and brought my grandparents as well Fort Bliss is where i was born where my father will retire of 30 years of service as a tanker and as a brigade CSM the only thing i am able to do for the troops at Fort Bliss is continue to be a Volunteer at the USO

I served 20 years between the Marine Corps and Army with 6 combat deployments. Thus song gets me everytime. I've also had 4 suicide attempts since getting out. Thankfully I have good friends ds and family to support me. You should react to Gone Away

I served the with the United States Air Force for 25 years and now a 70% permanently disabled veteran.
The US military is a completely voluntary force. We have no draft. I spent 7 years in the US Navy. Great reaction!🤘🎸

Hi Lovely Steph. Thank you for sharing this on your channel. There definitely needs to be more awareness of this problem. These strong, brave young men go away to foreign lands to be the world police and come home broken trying to assimilate back into a society while dealing with the nightmares of their experiences.

Strong men create good times, weak men create hard times the strong men need to resolve.
I feel your emotions and this song also made me very emotional first time hearing it and seeing the video. I'm also not from the US but I sympathize with what vets have to deal with especially since most of the wars they are sent into are for nonsense reasons and sometimes even based on lies. FFDP does a lot to raise awareness of this and I have great respect for them and their music is very good too. You should check out the cover they did of Gone Away, originally by The Offspring, it's just as powerful.
