The work you are doing for the blind is highly commendable. Please keep doing this continuously. Very few people do such work on UA-cam. Thank you for what you are doing, always please keep doing like this, keep bringing good things in front of people.
loved the idea... bought one for my mother with dementia... i wanted to only put my name in.. so she had only one contact. She was calling people at all hours with her other phone.... so by adding just one (me) contact, the emergency/911 button is huge... she called 911 six times one day .I could not make the emergency button smaller or hide it somewhere. Was told it had to be on there for legal reasons. I am all for it being on the front screen but no options to make it less easy to touch was aggravating. now it's 70 days later and a return is not an option..... which i understand as well.... expensive and now unuseable... putting in on FB marketplace soon and hoping to get some of what we paid out of it..... disappointed but is probably a good choice for others
@annettesimmons3816 Good review, I was just wondering about the emergency button... and knowing that the button cannot be removed sadly makes this phone a no-go for any person with dementia. Without the button it would be a great choice, and if it could be sold in Europe :)
I love the idea of this for my Dad with Alzheimer's but I'm extremely concerned that he's going to end up calling 911 a lot as a result of the bright red button. He has low vision and will actually be attracted to the red color and I can fairly assume he'll go for that button above all else when confused (he mistakenly 'declines' calls all the time this way on his current phone, because he goes for the red button first). I understand it can't be turned off or hidden. Any other ideas? Is it possible to cover the button with black electrical tape maybe? The phone would be perfect if it wasn't for that.
would have been good to optimize this for the blind. also could you please show how to receive calls? ...is it as simple of as just clicking side button?
Thanks for telling us how much it costs! Nothing more aggravating than people that add posts that are liyyle more than advertisements about products than keep the price secret. . I bought one. So far I like it but I have had to contact support four times to fix issues that keep poping up. Nothing major but annoying when it keeps acting up.
Every time someone tries a video call with my very elderly mother, she keeps switching between holding the phone up to her ear and looking at it. We've tried video calls because she has hearing issues and reads lips. Obviously, that didn't work so well when she kept moving the phone to her ear when we'd talk. ;) I do wonder about the emergency button. Elderly fingers frequently have a slight tremor and I can see that getting hit really easily.
For visually impaired, it seems silly to have the "hang up" button look so similar to the "Emergency 911" button. They could at least make it a different color.
Thanks for this video…super helpful! Do you happen to know if I use this with my Verizon plan…does it count as a smart phone? Also can it be used if my loved one doesn’t have any WiFi or internet? I understand there’s not apps and such…but wasn’t sure if it was only using cellular data? Thanks for your time and for sharing!
I just set up my mom’s Raz over the past two days and it’s been a nightmare. Verizon store wouldn’t help at all and said you can’t use their network. Affinity Cellular supports this phone but getting Verizon to “release” her number to Affinity took endless phone calls, etc (and I’m relatively tech savvy!). At present, her phone screen is black but she can at least finally receive phone calls (although she has to swipe up to do it and is having difficulty with that). We’re both frustrated after days of this. The concept of this phone is great, but setting it up so far has been awful!
For cooking, for washing clothes, for cleaning the house, what are the equipment that can be used to tell by speaking. Please search for such devices as much as possible and make videos bringing them in front of everyone so that we can know. At present, what facilities are being provided to the speaking blind people on an immediate basis.
I use my amazon echo dot with alexa wwhich is paired up to my amazon smart oven and cosori dual blaze air frier. so use my voice to turn them on to cook. plus I have bump dots on the buttons as well. so if the wifi a is acting up , I can still using them manually.
Hi, Sam! I am legally blind, and take care of my younger sister with down syndrome. I use my iPhone for everything, and would like to get this Motorola RAZ phone for her. Is it even available yet? I couldn’t find anything on the Motorola website. 10:00
you can control on the caregiver app if senior keeps calling 911.. you get notified so gives possible chance to call and cancel but I read there is a call center before call goes through to 911 center in the event of misuse. raz website goes over it all
Hello sam i just received an email from sony saying that if you are a us resident you can now loan the hx99 rnv for free for 2 weeks Hoping for a review showcase from you soon I was planning on loaning one but sadly it is not available here in the Philippines Sorry for any errors i'm using android dictation
This is good, but it's a little too simple for someone just having a bit of cognitive impairment. Especially when the other end of the spectrum you have a phone so complicated that even an experienced user has a hard time figuring out where things are or what to do. They need to make a phone that is NOT a touch screen for someone with MCI and who is also basically blind. Feeling the keys is very important for someone with very limited vision that is mainly peripheral vision from AMD. However, they is no such phone out there, yet
This is completely off topic, but at some point there was a backpack promoted on this channel that had a light and a Bluetooth speaker. Can someone find the link to that video or just a link to the website for the product?
Here's the link. I'm looking to sell mine if you're interested. It hasn't been used since making the video and I'll give you a good deal! ua-cam.com/video/JP5Vh-ga0ks/v-deo.htmlsi=FSwv1nacAnVOWvd8
Unless it has the ability to install a free long distance app and speaker's large enough for us elderly to actually hear. The first of which make's it only usefull in the U.S.A. and the second without larger speaker's makes it useless as any other.
Absolutely brilliant. This should be an app that I can install on any phone.

@annettesimmons3816
I’m interested if you are still selling it. How can I reach you?
Other reviews on other videos said the same thing. To me, the emergency button looks way too similar to the button for hanging up a call.
Also interested in buying it if you still want to pass it on

My mum would do the same. I would have bought it otherwise.
Thank you so much!! Its so hard to find good sources for these kind of things

Great idea but having to long press makes this too complex to use for an alzheimer's patient
I don't have that much knowledge of English language. Still you must have understood my feelings which I am trying to express in front of you!
Thanks for telling us how much it costs!

That is a cool phone.!!!! great video!!! 🙂👍

Sounds so great. I have a 94 year old Mom with quite advanced Alzheimers. Is it available in South Africa? Also can these phones receive calls?
For visually impaired, it seems silly to have the "hang up" button look so similar to the "Emergency 911" button. They could at least make it a different color.
Saw a phone called swiss mobile. Perhaps if possible you could do a video on it. I'm not computer savey and can't seem to find videos in English
Wish it also talked to the user, like when you click on a name it says that name
Very nice phone

Thanks, Blind Guy Sam~
I am looking for a phone that only allows incoming calls that are on the contact list. Is this a function of the phone?
Will medicade cover the cost of it if you're living in a assisted living home for the elder?
That’s really awesome!
Since my Mom isn't there far into Alzheimers yet...is there an option to allow them to use the dial pad for outgoing calls?
I see the basic monthly is $25 for the service, but how many minutes and is it nationwide?
hello sir,
please help me out.
i'm looking for a new phone. can you please tell which brands offers good accessibility with phones? except of apple.
What is the best case and screensaver for this phone?
it already comes with a case. No SS though.
What about the volume? My mom accidentally turns down the volume.
Is there a possibility to do videocalls?
Yes, in fact I talk about that in the video.
@@theblindlifedo non caregivers need to have an extra app to do video calls?
Nice!👌🏻

How does phone behave when a call is received?
Is this available in uk?

Sam, please disregard this message. I was on the Motorola website! Sorry.
Just saw your comment and was about to reply. Glad you were able to get it figured out!
What if you only want 3 contacts.. what would the home screen look like??
Can the 911 red emergency button be turned off? Can it start in speakerphone mode? Thank-you.

Want this phone in India, any idea?
Can this work international
Can you eliminate the emergency button???? Otherwise my son would dial the police almost everyday by mistake!!!
No you can't

would be great if it was a flip phone so its easier to hold for someone with parkinsons.
Can I remove the 911 off the screen?
No

i like the idea. but my dad breaks everyphone.he needs the heaviest duty phone case
$349? REALLY? The fact that you are promoting this device tells me EXACTLY who you are. This is AT BEST a $30 phone.
I would not recommend this company. Customer service is terrible
It’s not a great phone
Thinking about getting this phone why don’t you like it?
tend to ignore these comments when they don't explain..
