    Important information! In the video I talk about many of the features not working without Internet access, and how you need to be connected to a mobile hotspot if you are away from Wi-Fi. This is true that some features, like ask Envision, must have Internet access to work. However, Most of the other features have an off-line mode that allows you to use them while not connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile hotspot. Just wanted to clarify that and provide more information!

    I just love the Envision glasses! One of these days I want to get me a pair! And I have to say these new features and updates are incredible! And Vision also has been updating there services to be able to use Without an Internet connection. I read that, you can now scan text without having to be on the Internet or connected to our network. They say that they will continue to add more features to be able to run without or not connection.
    Thanks, Sam!

    Great video Sam. After years of waiting I can afford a wearable low vision system like this or like the Orcam or Irisvision but I have not looked at any of them in years. I have rod-Cone Dystrophy so Im red/green color blind, 20-200 in my best eye. I want a system that would improve or replace my bioptics to see far and magnifiers for close. I dont want a system that requires a internet connection because of where I live in Idaho the service is very unreliable or there is none at all. I will begin catching up on your great reviews and search for one that I can try out in person or at home first since my eyes dont focus anymore because of the Lenz extraction surgery.

    • @jasonking5840
      @jasonking5840 8 місяців тому

      OK so it’s only available for the one eye. If it has a monitor attached to it to be able to see for people with low vision, I would prefer to have it universal so the eye that I can see out of I would still be able to use it properly the way it was intended to be used. otherwise there’s no point in having a monitor on the end of the glasses.

      Don’t feel bad, I can’t see that tiny little screen either! They are correct, you don’t need the screen in order to use the device 100%. The screen displays the menu while cycling through the options, and, if you can see it, let’s you Frame the shot when scanning text. However, you can do all of this without using the screen without any problems.

    @The Blind Life - Hello! I'm a 32 year old man born with bilateral coloboma of the optic nerve which has resulted in my vision being pretty significantly impacted, though I can ambulate on my own very well and can usually manage my typical activities of daily living with some assistive technology (mostly using Android personalization service to enlarge app text and icons as well as a "don't leave home without it" hand magnifier, lol). My question for you is do you know of any android app or similar item that can help me identify signs at the roadside while being a passenger in a car, like business names, road names or other landmark or "nearby places" information? If this kind of thing doesn't exist I think I'll be looking for someone to go into business with to design it; It could use a combination of a phone or removable/dash mountable camera lens (or an eyeglass frame mounted one like orcan but different), the Google Maps feature, GPS and other apps I'm sure in not aware of yet to come up with an audio or larg(er) print description of the neighborhood so, when someone like me is traveling as a passenger in a car or bus, we can be made aware of things we may have never known were there, like businesses on side streets or events or activities happening in an "off the main road" park. If this interests you please reply here and I'll send my phone number and email address. You (or anyone else resing this) can also just add me on Facebook if you want, I'm the only Elliot Polach but, just in case, I'm from Evansville, Indiana, originally from Paducah KY, the same state I think The Blind Guy is from :-)
    And I know this probably goes without saying but to anyone here using a screen reader or just reading this I'm sorry about all the spelling and punctuation errors; Can't really see well enough to correct it and have actually had better luck trying to type it anyway than using speech to text and having to go back to edit the comment later.

      As this product is just a rebranded and patched version of Google Glass and Google finished support for that product on September 15, 2023, I'm curious what this company will do to continue supporting this product. It's sad to see how we continue paying a premium price for an already-dated product in terms of hardware. Is like paying full price for a 2018 car in 2023. Would you do that?

      Assistive technology should be classified as prosthetics so we could get them through insurance.

      There’s another company doing much better work. Seleste glasses. Does all the same things and more at a more affordable cost, not only that, but the camera is smack dab in the center so it actually makes sense and they actually look like regular glasses… You don’t look like a sideboard when wearing them.

      @@J.D.Visionjust to tell you insurance doesn't actually pay for all types of prosthetics. It really depends on the location you are in and the prosthetic that you need. Leg prosthetics are more likely to be provided by insurance but less so our arm prosthetics typically because insurance assumes you can just live your life without an arm. I mean I thought that insurance was supposed to give people a helping hand but I guess I was wrong.

      I was mainly just talking about the updates in this video. The price is easily found with a simple Google search. Fully loaded price is around 3500. However, they also offer less features at a lower price.

    OK, I'm on board with GPT speculating about the meaning of a traffic light, or the spread of vehicles in a lot, but the propaganda about why a bench might be there, or why pumpkins were placed by the sidewalk, or whether colors express fall festival feeling is undesirable. It's impractical, and just sounds like chatter. I thought it was Chat GPT, not Chatty Kathy.
    Also, why do the glasses have to be connected to a hotspot? Can't they access the internet through the phone's cellular connection, via their blue tooth tether to the phone? Using my hot spot is limited and becomes quite expensive very quickly.

    • @theblindlife

      For some reason they cannot access the mobile data through the app. However , check out my updated videos where I talk about most of the features have an offline mode which does not need Internet access.

      @@briancooper2112 The only way you'll get this stuff if you can't afford it is through some government assistance scheme if you can justify you need it. I hate it so much that this tech is so overpriced, especially as I'm an electronics engineer and have a good idea what goes into making these things. They know governments and institutions will pay though. I've been very tempted to make assistive tech affordable as my best friend is visually impaired.
