Because of the badge, even if people turn their heads, they aren’t going to think this thing is worth $115,000. Some people might appreciate that… but since this car is more or less designed to be a status symbol, I’m not really sure who the target consumer for this one is. Then again, this could be the car that changes people’s perceptions of MG and Chinese cars in general. Who knows?
There was a time when MG was a reasonably premium brand - before the Chinese bought it. Personally though, I'd rather have one of these than say, an MGBGT - had enough of stuffing around with unreliable, rusty old cars for one lifetime, and Chinese MG actually seem to be a pretty decent car manufacturer.

Just bought one of the first ones Inn Africa! Cape Town is a great place for this great car! The performance is over the top but great car. Very inexpensive for the package you get in South Africa. But a niche vehicle. Hats off to MG!

Also available in NZ (you know the islands to the East of Oz?) I have sat in one in a dealer’s showroom and have a test drive booked for the New Year. I noted a couple of things sitting in it. I am not tall (180cm), but I only had about 1cm of headroom with the soft-top up. And that was with the driver’s seat at its lowest setting. The passenger seat sits slightly lower and I assume the battery pack under the floor is optimised for the Chinese market. For me, the steering wheel blocked the bottom inner corners of the side displays and the top outer corners of the centre display. I believe that is because it originally had a yoke steering wheel. Some of this wouldn’t matter if it had a HUD, which a car at this price should have. I also noted how wide the door sill was. The combination of the scissor door and the width of the sill would make it difficult for those of slightly advanced years (the only ones who could afford this) to get in and out. This is a “look at me while I save the planet” vehicle that is too expensive.

From the size of those calipers which look to be 4 pot jobs, I doubt it's the fault of the brakes as they should be more than adequate - most likely the brake assistance is quite mild and/or the pad compound isn't the best, and you just need to stamp on them a bit harder than most modern vehicles and/or swap out the pads and/or fit some decent tyres instead of those pirelli shitters. Could be a bunch of other things unrelated to the calipers too.
i think its great MG are trying a sports car, need to shave a bit of weight off it, get rid of those scissor doors, iron out a few problems and could be a big hit. great review guys love the video.

This vehicle exhibits greed and arrogance by a Chinese car manufacturer with wild aspirations that has acquired the MG brand name only, there is absolutely nothing British about this. Design is of course subjective and the front of this rotund 2000 kilo vehicle pretending to be an agile and light sports car is hilarious, from the side it's a basic design and the rear tail design is a complete and utter letdown, I would go as far as to say that it is so polarising that it could be a deal-breaker for many prospective buyers. With any true coupe' sports car there will of course be compromises, however the owner of MG has dropped the ball "big time". Far too many issues to list here and you boys have identified multiple unacceptable issues so I won't repeat everything. Those scissor doors are a desperate attempt to create positive discussions and to also justify the high price to astronomical levels, however they're impractical and add unnecessary weight, so I'm sure the novelty will wear off very quickly for all owners too. Unlike ICE vehicles that have very complex mechanics, electric vehicles are inherently quick and straight-line acceleration isn't difficult to achieve, but the sports handling will be much harder for MG to get right, although I'm sure they've bought many real-sports cars from legacy brands and have reverse engineered them because let's face it, the Chinese are well known copying infringers in every industry. The cabin is also seriously flawed in multiple ways and there are some serious omissions too, there are two immediate issues that come to mind, one : the steering wheel obscures views to the upper screens, and two : why is there a huge and bulky lower centre console grab handle dividing the cabin. Seems to me that MG has been copying Toyota and the cost cutting and greedy prices are clearly evident.
