X4 was like one of the first Rockman series that I completed as a child. It was a time when there was little to no internet access, no FAQs, no guides. Just straight up exploring. It was so fun to find the armors, tanks, secrets. Seeing how the bosses flinched when you used a blaster that was their weakness. Damn... I miss my childhood gaming times.

Darjinero i would believe if you said "with only leg armor". There is a stage where you can jump and dash because you can't pass through this part without leg armor. Say goodluck to the spikes that even a long jump is not required. If i remembered it correctly, it was the stage where the arm armor is located
In the manga; X doesn't recieve the 4th armor via capsule. He finds a capsule behind (if I recall correctly) a waterfall containing the ultimate armor. Dr. Light warns X of the power it possesses and that it can have negative impacts on his software. X felt he needed it and took the armor. He ended up mercilessly killing a couple mavericks before coming to his senses. Only then did the ultimate armor break off like he achieved ultra instinct and finally dawned the 4th armor.
The glory days of the first ever playstation! Megaman x4 was my favorite and will always be, damn when i got to enter the cheat code for the Nova strike armor.... X was a god!!!! I miss the thrill of games back then 👍👍
Funny thing about the Heart Tank in Magma Dragoon's Stage. You actually don't need the Electro Web, nor Zero's Double jump to get it. You just have to dash jump in perfect timing and you can make it.
more isn't always better, megaman franchise have bad mechanism, especially on x4, if you run out of lifes, you can choose restart at the checkpoint, x5 and x6 as i remembered, if you run out of lifes, you start from beginning of the stages
Yagami 0128 nope, you have that backwards, the purple tank is only useful in X4 since when you game over you have to restart the stage, in X5 and X6 game over sends you back to last checkpoint

I downloaded it today and completed it in 3 hours I swear it took me weeks to beat this game when i was a kid... and even now i had so much fun what a game
i played as zero when i was young. quite challenging because of his lack of range attacks, but it was fun. really had to dodge attacks and wait for openings to strike
I played this when I was 8, now I'm 14, and gaming would have never been the same for me. This was the best platformer and will always be in my heart. Although I have to admit I did play as Zero at first and that was a lot harder than playing as X BUT WHATEVER
I suppose the 4-charges buster do almost the same damage to bosses, as the bosses have that invincibility time that makes them immune to the balls that the plasma shot leaves...
The plasma shot only works if the boss only hits it and not the initial buster shot... If the boss only touches plasma shot they wont get invincibility frames and recieve consistent damage until the shot decays or he leaves that spot... So its understandable why the storaged charges can be better in many situations... As its basically a quick way to drain a third or more of the bosses health in a very quick amount of time
it was the first megaman i played... and it is still my favorite, even being very easy, i think that is the best made of all x saga (don't belive too much in me, i know that maybe it is a little bit subjective), but i have a good controls, gave to zero new passive abillities (that after the x5-6 used as chips), and and have one of the best non-secret armor of the game...
It’s definitely the best of the X series. Good story, good gameplay, great soundtrack, best level design in my opinion, it really was where I think the series peaked. 5, 6, and 8 were alright, having good gameplay. I think 5 lacked on the story a bit. 6 had a better story, but there were parts of the game that just felt like BS, like the Dynamo battle (whoever thought that battle design was good needs their head examined). 8 was pretty well rounded actually, providing a decent challenge, but it has a significant difficulty spike when you get to Sigma’s Palace. 7 just sucks. The voice acting is atrocious, and Axl’s play style isn’t fun, since you need to kill with the copy shot, which does no damage, and the enemies still attack while disguised. Also, the 3D mechanic was broken and desperately needed a free moving camera, and the tag team mechanic was flawed, since there was no incentive to switch (something X8 fixed) and I could just beat a stage solo as Zero 9 times out of 10. It just wasn’t fun and is the black sheep of the series, I think.
guys , I know you won't believe me, but we got to the last boss with my cousin, I was controlling the jump (esc) and movement, and my cousin controlled hitting and speed, but we couldn't defeat him 😢
Cyber Peacock's first two sections for heart and sub tank can be S ranked with just running. There is an optimal path for them. No need for dash nor Soul Body. Try it for fun as an extra challenge.
I never played as Megaman X. I enjoyed the fact that zero was fully playable this time. Also he doesn’t require Armour upgrades or weapon refill. Don’t remember the heart containers nor energy tanks. I did beat the game however.
I'm not sure about the not letting go of L1 and R2 for X and the 0 for Zero until they spawn in Sky Lagoon. When I use this cheat after I input the needed buttons I do not hold any buttons after the character is selected anymore and still works fine.
Please don't tell me I'm not the only person who can't try getting the ultimate armor X and black zero in X4. I tried all of these codes and it doesn't work.

I feel X4 is when stories getting more dramatic and have more depth. I know thats weird to say for a MegaMan game but its true. Even when Zero has those flashbacks of killing reploids
So I'm playing through the legacy collection on steam and it's really amazing how much they changed from X3 to X4. Everything in terms of design aesthetic is so different, and even though it's charming that they added voices, why does Mega Man X sound like a 9-year-old and Zero sound like an edgy teenager?
I wish they added the Saturn version with the animated intros for X3. I've always wondered about that bizarre VO choice. They eventually fixed it later in the series.

Magma Dragoon’s heart tank is just barely possible without weapons or upgrades btw. You have to wall jump off of the very top of the furthest up wall on the right of it

It wasn't complete because it still had safety issues by the time the real Dr. Light passed away. Had it been perfected, X would have been pretty much invincible even without the nova strike.
Would anyone know why neither of the codes are working for me? The X code will start the game but won't turn X Purple, and the Zero code just sits on the "Now Loading" and won't go anywhere. I'm playing it on my Vita (and Yes I have R2 assigned to the rear touchpad so I know I can do the code)
Caleb Overlander It may have to do with the emulator or the way the controls are on the Vita. Those are just hunches though. I would recommend re-downloading MegaMan X4 and trying it over again.

mega man x4 did do a better job of heart tanks and sub tanks and armors location than X3 did without so much backtracking and multiple returns to stages
I think if you start at volcano stage first, u can take the heart of that stage if u good at jumping. Then, u can take the foot part and use the fire ability to take the heart of the spider stage. If u good at dodge and parkour, u can take all of items in the peacock stage. At the owl stage, u can easily get the heart and the arm part with the web spider ability. And the snow, train, mushroom, stingray stage are easy to collect items. For example, the ex tank in the snow stage, u just need the web spider ability, for the heart u just need the fire ability, but those ability u has collected before, so that will be easy for u to collect items. U just only need to go back to volcano stage for the body upgrade if u are using normal X
I'm having trouble getting Black Zero on Megaman x collection. I press R1,Right 6x,let go of R1, hold circle, press start (to skip cutscene), press box while holding circle (to finish zero dialogue) and let go of circle after he spawns but he's still red.
My strategy is a bit different, but I only use normal bullets and don't need blood support. If you want to watch the video you play, go to the channel you watch.
I am obsessed with the Mega Man series. Even though I have not been able to attempt any of the games myself(except for Mega Man 11, which I gave up on the FIRST Robot Master stage bc I KEPT DYING), I still have a passion for the series. I'm using my procedure from an old cheat code book I used to have. Yours probably works just as well.

I think it was only in X5/maybe X6 Zero's Black Armor can be acquired w/o inputting codes and does boost his damage/def and some other perks.
GamerDude GamerDude X6 needs a code for Black Zero. X5, you can get in Doppler Stage 2, if I recall correctly, and it reduces damage taken.

mega man x4 did do a better job of heart tanks and sub tanks and armors location than X3 did without so much backtracking and multiple returns to stages
I think if you start at volcano stage first, u can take the heart of that stage if u good at jumping. Then, u can take the foot part and use the fire ability to take the heart of the spider stage. If u good at dodge and parkour, u can take all of items in the peacock stage. At the owl stage, u can easily get the heart and the arm part with the web spider ability. And the snow, train, mushroom, stingray stage are easy to collect items. For example, the ex tank in the snow stage, u just need the web spider ability, for the heart u just need the fire ability, but those ability u has collected before, so that will be easy for u to collect items. U just only need to go back to volcano stage for the body upgrade if u are using normal X
I'm having trouble getting Black Zero on Megaman x collection.
I press R1,Right 6x,let go of R1, hold circle, press start (to skip cutscene), press box while holding circle (to finish zero dialogue) and let go of circle after he spawns but he's still red.
When i was kid i just the end the game with zero without any this video give 😂 poor me and thats how i live this game until X8

M tank gives you 2 extra lives when you start levels

When i was kid i played X4, X5, and X6... X4 is like easy mode, X5 is like normal mode, and X6 be like the hell is this
I hate X6 so much. If I don't have to play it I'll avoid it.
Same thing along with X7. To this day I nearly beat x4 and 5 as Zero but think I gave up at some point cause Sigma kept killing me. I managed to finally beat X6. I'm now a grown adult and still salty I didn't get to beat both games -_-
Do the sub-tanks only refill ammunition? I am replaying this (the Mega Man X collection) and I can't refill my health like I could in previous games.
sub-tanks only do health. The W-tank is for weapons
Played a few of these mega man games on the psx, awesome games, wish we'd get them on the PS4

The air force capsules i don't know how to get up there how do you even get up there without getting hitting the spikes
There are button codes for X's ultimate armor and zero's black armor

If you are asking if you can switch mid-game, no you cannot.

I have Megaman collection which my favorite is the 6 on xbox series s and never beat it for some reason.
6 is a good one. It feels a bit weird to me at first but I think it's because you cant tell Capcom was running out of ideas
