My son thinks that something fell into the fan motor when the maintenance people were working on the floor above me. This weekend, he is going to take the fan down to see if it is repairable or if I need to replace it.

Is it possible to use the wall switch for the light and then use the remote for the fan only? Also, if we can, will it remember the hue we set from the remote when using the wall switch? We do have a red wire from our ceiling as well.

Yes, this remote receiver has separate wires for light power and fan power. This allows you to wire the receiver to 2 separate switches - 1 for light and one for fan speed.
