These were the exact mods I went with for my fist two mods and I could not be happier with the quick shifter. Everything good about the stock shift action is retained but just with a short-but-not-too-short throw. It's so satisfying. The RMM is only really noticeable to me when slamming the 1-2 shift. Other than that it's pretty subtle in what it does but that's fine to me - better than it being super noticeable with a bunch of NVH. Would recommend this combo just as you say. Thanks for the install videos too
Well, I finally got the mount on. It's just as you say. Shifts are quick and tight. There's way less wiggle between shifts, letting you go straight from gear to gear without that moment of hesitation. A little NVH is noticeable at low RPM if you're really looking for it, a little more with the AC turned on, but just driving around, you don't feel it. Of course, it hasn't "broken in" yet, so I suspect it will smooth out even more in time. It now shifts like a sporty car should. Totally worth it.
Another good video Adam. Answered all my concerns regarding nvh with the mountune rmm. I've had one ready to fit for a few weeks and will take another look at your install video before I do it. It's always nice to see someone's down to earth experience of a component before you buy.
Cheers Paul! When installing yourself in stands just be aware that the engine does move a bit when removing the bolts so then when putting them back in you kind of have to push it back to line them up but it doesn't take much effort
I just installed my rmm (finally) and keen for the short shifter too. The rmm is great for clutch pedal feel. Might have to save quicker for the short shifter now.
Thanks for your video man ! I wanna get these mods soon. I can feel the slop from my stock rear engine mound pretty bad now after 3 years of driving it pretty hard most of the time lol. I too feel that waving left/right under hard acceleration... One question is when I take corners fast my car seems to do a weird dance as the chassis flexes (feels like).. I don't remember it doing this and its doing it on corners that I take every day too and from work now... Same roads from when the car was brand new and I only noticed this in the last month or so.. I have only had new tires all round and run at same pressures as before..
Hard to say for sure but maybe you could get the suspension checked out. Maybe you are just taking the corners harder the more experienced you get! :D If there is nothing wrong with the car then you can start building up chassis stiffening with various braces
Another great vid and totally agree with you re both these mods... I am counting the days for mountune to announce the 265 replacement. Seriously can't wait to see what it will be... 😎 Can I make one small criticism of your vids? The background music!!! Arghhhh lol
Peng_Productions nothing official but most likely there will be and there is a good chance it will be 285 or even 300 but my gut feel it will be a 285... I also have the 230 set up... how you finding it?
Installed the Mountune RR last month and noticed the other day I was getting a 'knock' sound when pressing on the accelerator, not sure if it's linked to the RR or not but let us know how you get on!
I don't seem to get a knock but since making this vid i have noticed that initially i do get a sort of squeak which goes away after a while which I believe is the bushings just warming/loosening up a bit from being cold
I'd appreciate it, if you didn't get quite so technical,,, (the car feels a lot less wiggly) ,,, ha ha,,, Great useful advice on a "combo",,, cheers Adam,,
Did you ever find there was more noticeable vibration in the drivers seat at idle? I've just installed the mountune RMM and was wondering if this will dampened over time. Its quite a bit more noticeable than the standard mount imo
Hi 90rich I had a Mountune mount for a day and couldn't live with the vibration. A year on and I wonder if I should have stuck with it and wondered how you got on with yours?
@@xfileswilly So I think it does loosen up over time or bed in kind of thing. Also if you start from cold then the polyurethane is a bit stiff and after a bit of driving it relaxes
@@AdamRainey Thanks buddy. My cars a daily and felt I couldn't be dealing with extra vibration and no real benefit when driving sensibly 😁 I hoped it would improve the gear change but did nothing in that area for me. I may look into another mount with a softer compound but it seems Mountune are the softest of all the mounts offered. Mountune Bill BTW 😏👍
Yea absolutely, it is seriously an awesome thing to do. It makes the shift feel so much better than stock, which I thought was already good. But don't get a shit shift, get a Mountune ;P
Hi James, I have a modified car insurance policy purchased through Adrian Flux which allows the addition of mods with no affect on the premium unless they specifically add power so these two mods for example will not impact it
Adam Rainey Hi Adam, thanks for taking the time to reply I appreciate it. I will certainly look into Adrian Flux. Your videos are very helpful and provide good reviews of what to buy for the ST! Thank you

I think you need all of the things :D
Really great video, I love how you manage to explain even to people that are really new to mods, what you think. Also love the ‘learey’ part 😂😂
Cheers Peter! :)
If Icould only have 2 mods those would be it.
Thanks for your video man !

What's wrong with the music?
Adam Rainey sometimes drowns you out ... Just my opinion
Gooner70 there's a 265 replacement? I'm 230 currently and noticed the mr265 has removed off the website a few weeks back
Peng_Productions nothing official but most likely there will be and there is a good chance it will be 285 or even 300 but my gut feel it will be a 285... I also have the 230 set up... how you finding it?
Adam Rainey hope I didn't offend re the music... you know I love your vids.. just want more prominence of your dulcet tones
Tried today to put shifter on ! 5 hrs later still not on and can’t take it off . Absolute fucking nightmare
He-man that thing out!

Can you feel a vibration once fitting the rear motor mount
Watch the video and find out!
Adam Rainey 🙊 stopped to early
Always go to the end, never know what u might find!
I'd appreciate it, if you didn't get quite so technical,,, (the car feels a lot less wiggly) ,,, ha ha,,, Great useful advice on a "combo",,, cheers Adam,,
Cheers John, I like mixing a little bit of technical with what normal people can relate to!

It will bed in a bit over time yea but you will always have a bit of extra vibration in certain scenarios. You will get used to it :)

Adam "Mountune Rainey from now on. Been considering a shit shift for my MK6. Would you say you feel more connected to the car with it?
Short shift even. Won't edit it because it's quite a funny error?
Yea absolutely, it is seriously an awesome thing to do. It makes the shift feel so much better than stock, which I thought was already good. But don't get a shit shift, get a Mountune ;P
Adam Rainey aye! Mine feels like quite a good throw as it is. Quite glad you touched on this part for this video.
Hi Adam, what car insurance provider do you use for all these mods?

What rims have you got sitting on the ST at the moment Adam?
They are Sparco Trofeo 4 in matte black!
First!
