I just got an Uber Ultra K88 to replace a faulty SLO 100 and I’m not liking it as much as I thought I would. The SLO was a bit too vintage sounding and loose for the modern metal and rock I play, whereas I think the Uber isn’t as articulate as I like. How do you think the Uber compares to an MZero Overdrive or a Wizard MTL? They’re the main 2 amps I’m looking at right now, as I think they may strike the balance between clarity and feel, and modern aggression that I’m looking for.
@@Trails_Ales_and_Sigma_Males surprisingly I can dial in the Uber to get semi close to the MTL with good saturation and clarity. The MZero Overdrive is pretty close to the SLO to my ears. I would suggest if the KT88 Ultra isn’t clear to either swap some preamp tubes or try a variety of EQ settings or try different speakers. I’m happy with how the Uber reacts to different guitars and different pickups - it’s also pretty dynamic for having so much gain. Rolling back on the guitar volume can be a cool sound as well. Hopefully that helps - if you need some EQ settings to try I can look at mine - both channel 1 & 2 I have sounding great into a Wizard 4x12 with V30/Creamback H75 but the amp also liked a cab I have with all Greenbacks.
The regular channel can take a boost, like a Koko or OD808, but there’s definitely a lot of gain on tap - the built in boost was on for this as the Blackguard pickup is pretty tame on output. I do have a BG1400 Duncan I may pop in to try.
@@bulletrider8893 thanks, they’re both incredible amps in their own right…all personal preference and how much dough you’d wanna spend. HR is available with all octal tubes as well.
The Lynx is gone, the Uber has more balls than the RV and is more versatile but the Orange has its own thing going on. Both are solid in their own right.
golf and guitars... that's the life... and sick tone from that Tele through the Bogner man!!
Thanks dude!
Sounded killer with the Teles single coil
Will make another one with other guitars. This amp is fun to jam on. Thanks brother 🙏🏼

No Boost needed...ever🚫. But there is the internal boost that gives it a different flavor if you turn the gain down then hit the boost button

Channel 2 in Uber mode takes a boost very well.
The internet needs more high gain teles
Which do you prefer HR or Bogner UU for tight heavy chugg?? Btw, you've got some serious gear collections man!

Congrats for the Ultra. How do you like it in comparison to the Rockerverb and the Lynx ?

What power tubes in your Ultra?
