This is on the lower gain lead channel with the OneDer Drive in the lower gain setting, set for clean boost with only a tad of the gain knob rolled in. Amp gain was at noon-1 o’clock

Not really, the MCII covers a ton of tonal territory, it’s probably the most versatile in the lineup. The crunch tones on the rhythm channel are great, hit with an OD and it’s hair metal with the gain up, then switch to lead for more heavy meal vibes - and gain levels can be controlled by your volume knob. Very controlled, a bit less than a 335 style guitar. I generally use a gate in front of high gain amps. Emil Werstler has a few vids of his semi-hollow playing metal - it adds a cool punch to the tone IMO.

@@paullancaster2204 well ENGL's don't really need a boost but some of them work with overdrives. Most all the time on my Wizards or more pure circuits I boost, especially if the pickup is lower output.

@@wizardsouthJP yeah im going for more of an aggressive YJM tone and use the YJM furys, always boosted with the dod 250 but this video is really close to what im shooting for with the artist.

The regular channel can take a boost, like a Koko or OD808, but there’s definitely a lot of gain on tap - the built in boost was on for this as the Blackguard pickup is pretty tame on output. I do have a BG1400 Duncan I may pop in to try.

Channel 2 in Uber mode takes a boost very well.

The Lynx is gone, the Uber has more balls than the RV and is more versatile but the Orange has its own thing going on. Both are solid in their own right.

I think this was with V30/Creamback H75 but it also liked all Greenback surprisingly.

@@wizardsouthJP I keep a framus cobra 4x12 around with the greenbacks. Surprising what I've liked through it. Deliverance, Mark iv, herbert mkiii, savage 120, cobra, the slx kills through it. Anyway I'm asking because currently doing redbacks and vintage 30s, but there's too much difference in the low mids for me especially running through the herbert 3. Random observation the private jack loaded cab I have only sounded good with 2 amps ever. A PRS archon and thr herbert... the low mid voicings and bass heavy... seems to be countered by the private Jack's extreme upper mid bump and it grinds pretty good but I can't stand them anywhere else. And I'm on the fence about letting this herbert go, not sure I'm in love with it. Its real picky over speakers.

@@wizardsouthJP I keep trying to dial it out, I've had 20 or so of the know high gainers and, I can feel that "Diezel Pride" thing I fluencing me, making me want to believe it's incredible because of the lore that surrounds em... I don't boost, and generally get tight grind in the mids because I'm a percussive picker so I get the attack just fine. But it's refreshing to hear someone else have the same view on the mkiii... I've tried different tubes at different bias, different speakers, settings, and believe it or not, sometimes prefer the slx. The mids are weird on the herbert... there's something I do like but seems I spend more time dialing it than playing it trying to compensate for something happening I'm the tone. 2+ is almost enough to keep it, but it's alot of amp for me to just 85% like a single sound. @@Chugg.Norris I’d take a Mk2 all day over the Mk3 and even a DMoll over the Herb 3, just wasn’t a fan of that I was hearing.

I’m not familiar with the codes you’d mentioned. I don’t generally love the Mesa 4x12 with their V30 as they seem a bit dark to my ears. Also if you you do get a Mesa 4x12, try loading it with a combination of 2 different pairs - V30 and Creamback H75, or M65, or Redbacks. The V30’s play well with those speakers in an X pattern. Another option would be an Orange PPC 4x12 or the Friedman 4x12, or Diezel. Thanks, hope that helps.

It was/is a Knaggs Severn - think apparently it was a Steve Stevens model but I traded it on some other gear.

The KSR 212 has a bigger spread than the Mesa 212 or Orange 212. I wasn’t a huge fan of the DV77’s and sold it to a buddy of mine. We swapped the speakers for V30/Creamback H75 - I can’t remember if he went back to V30/DV77 or went for all Celestions. The dims of the KSR are bigger than a usual 212, I presently have the head width KSR 212 with a V30/Creamback 65 for pairing with a 4x12. I always prefer a 4x12 over a 2x12 but they do add some spice to the in the room sound. Thanks

@@wizardsouthJP Very cool thanks for the info. I have a lead on a KSR 2x12 that has a V30 and DV77. I have extra V30s and Creambacks to swap in if needed. Should sound great with my 4x12's and on its own for smaller gigs. How's the weight on that 2x12? That beefiness must come at a cost lol.
