Saw Hank Jr. at the Spindle Center Fair in Gastonia and bought Hank’s fiddle player Jerry Rivers’s bio of Hank. I wanted to be skinny like Hank Sr. and lost 85 pounds. I was around 130 pounds at a height then of 6’1”. I read later in Roger Williams’s bio of Hank “Sing a Sad Song” that Hank was 6’1” and weighed 140 pounds. I was 10 pounds thinner. Started writing lyrics and strumming guitar and playing harmonica. Played solo and in several bands. Even did TV. The only “success “ I had as a lyricist was writing the words to a song Randy Traywick (Travis) recorded at 17 in 1978. It was a Country Single Pick in the trade magazine Record World. To this day I admire Hanks Jr. and Sr. Got to know former Driftin’ Cowboys Don Helms and Hillous Butrum and got to interview Hank Sr.’s daughter Jett upon the publication of her biography “There’s Nothin’ as Sweet as My Baby.” Sam looks identical to ol’ Hank Sr. When I did interviews Grand Ole Opry Stars would share their experiences with the ol’ Lovesick Blues Boy. Roy Acuff, Cousin Minnie Pearl, Merle Kilgore, Charlie Louvin, and especially Tater Little Jimmie Dickens.
Both grandsons (all) grandsons have gifts of song/ singing/ lyrical talent/ musical talent, glad I look up : Hank William's grandchildren singing one day, was not disappointed.

I grew up listening to Hank senior then blessed with Hank Jr and now its amazing that there’s a 3rd generation with Hank III and Sam. I feel very fortunate to have lived long enough to experience this much of the Williams family legacy. I know Hiram is smiling down on his family.
