That's brilliant of Ferris to put a way to tension the spring without taking it off - most brands make this task a super pain - the breaker bar makes it at least easier! thanks for the video - makes me want a Ferris!
Thank you for your help I couldn't figure it out my belt broke in two while my son was using my mower I didn't know how it was strunge, this video showed me how.
9:36 - A sound I know too well. It comes from me anytime I get down on the ground or try to get back up again. This video was VERY helpful to me. I have a Kioti ZTR and there are not any videos of how to do this. I have replaced my deck belt once and it was horrible trying to get the new belt on with the spring under tension. Now I need to replace it again. Your mower belt configuration is very similar to mine, so your video gave me hope of an easier time.
Very informative, I have a 2006 Simplicity Citation which is basically the same mower. Wish I had that removable cover to access the top of the mower deck so easily. I recently had my belt drop off and it took two of us to get it on, me using my foot to push on my breaker bar and step son slipping it back on the engine pulley. I think I need to try this with a longer breaker bar or ratchet.
@@philthelawnman Got it done with no problems. Do you have any experience with adjusting the springs around the shocks? I'm only 145lbs & 5'6" and the factory setting really beats me up. The manual & videos I've seen don't really explain anything to me. Mine was set on the 1st notch. I adjusted it to the 3rd notch and it seems to ride a little better but the info I read suggests the 1st notch is for smaller people. Thanks.
I will look that up today. But the number will be by your personal engine mower combination. Theybstuck one of 3 engines on them in 15. I thought it was ether brings or kawasaki found out there was a 3rd option this year. Each one should be the same but the girl at the counter wanted my Vin number saying there were 3 engines.
I appreciate you taking the time to do this! Saved me a lot of headache.

Thanks for the video. My belt snapped this week, and I’ve got the new belt now. This will help me replace it properly!
Be very careful this is a job that can mangle fingers. Thanks
Thank you for a clear and steady video! Really appreciate it!
Good video.
Helpful note: place belt over main drive pulley and hold it in place with a spring clamp, then work belt over other pulleys.

Just remember that this is waiting to give you that busted knuckles look and a black blood nail. Thanks for the comments.
Just changed the drive belt and the deck belt yesterday, the drive belt is such a PITA!! Good video!
Yes I know it all to well.
Thanks for the video. I'm going to change by belt a lot easier now.
Excellent. Be sure to keep fingers out of pinch points. That ICD deck may mean I collect Digits.

You can actually go to most parst stores and get a loaner 1/2 drive pull bar. I would not try a stick that thing can hurt you.
