This is an updated version of the Chain Devil Shorts which fixes some of my calculations and items I missed so many months ago. Want to request a specific monster or have me review your custom monsters? Check out the top links in the description to find out more. 😄
Day 6 of leaving a comment for the algorithm. It’s great to see our old friend chain devil again, and I like this in depth dive to revise the old video :) The encounter building and tactics segments are really useful too! It’s really funny to me how the chain devil just looks like a dude wearing a bunch of chains. Also, gonna go check out the podcast, listening to these in the background sounds super convenient
Thanks and I'm glad you are enjoying them. The older podcast episodes are certainly dated and a couple of the monsters are a little out of sync with a newer, updated versions. Although I did enjoy making these longer versions since there was a lot of views on some of these and to give a general idea of what to expect from these monsters. Also I can totally see what you're saying here of just a guy covered in chains not really a fiend so to say. Although what is under that mask he's wearing???🤔
A chain devil actually has a very personal history with my bard and utterly hates my character for beating it on several occassions. This chain devil corrupted my character's father and ruined his childhood in his backstory. It was bound to his family signit ring and slowly corrupts the wearer of said ring. The ring itself cannot be removed and it gives a plus 1 charisma. My half-elf college of whispers bard once he came into posession of the ring after resisting the charm effect realized the ring couldn't be removed and simply opted to have someone cut the finger off with the ring on it. That wasn't enough to get rid of it though and a hand started to reform from the ring. My bard took it to a temple and had it incinerated in holy fire sending the devil screaming back to the 9 hells. It now wants revenge and once it reforms it isn't gonna be happy.
That is some excellent back story work and good methods of dealing with the issue. The incineration was the icing though, lol. It'll be interesting to hear how that all works out.
