Thank you so much for watching - please give it a thumbs-up if you enjoyed! This video was asked for SO MANY TIMES so despite the fact I have an 'honest activewear review' already, I thought I'd do a winter running special. Tell me some of your favourite brands and races! I want to know it ALL.
Flora Beverley best bra for ladies who are bustier: panache sports moulded bra, underwired or wire free. It’s so comfy I can wear it everyday, but can strap the girls down and go running without knocking myself out. Bonus: has pretty colours. I find that shock absorber bras have to be so tight to compress the girls it hurts so much after two hours I have to take it off. Have literally been driving home from park run and had to pull over and free myself. www.figleaves.com/uk/panache-sports-moulded-underwired-bra/PA-5021.html?dwvar_PA-5021_color=715485&cgid=sports-lingerie-bras#prefn1=effect&prefv1=High%20Impact&start=1
This is the best detailed review on UA-cam for running gear. You give a very detailed review but the way you review these items is both straight to the point and insightful and thats just a 10/10 for me. Really appreciate it. Thanks Flora!
As someone just getting back into running, and as someone who’s never been a ‘winter runner’, I found this incredibly insightful and really really useful so thank you very much! Being a bloke, and having lost a fair bit of weight already, I don’t think I’ll be in need of one of the sports bras but the overall reviews on the other bits of gear were fantastic. I have some Columbia stuff for hiking and the like, but never really knew they did much in the way of running stuff - I’ll certainly be giving them a look up! Thanks again Flora, I’d highly recommend any newer runners giving this a look ☺️
I love this! I swear by 2XU leggings, too. I would always run in their old Elites (same pair for ~5 years) until I upgraded to the MCS which I ripped a hole in by climbing a fence trying to avoid some cows! Love Stance, too - I was far too excited when they opened up their first UK store in Covent Garden! Omg hat in the rain... genius!! I need to try this 100% agree about the shoes... I work in a Runnersneed doing gait analysis in London and I always give the same advice - if they're not comfortable as soon as you put them on your feet, rule them out! If you ever feel like you might want to try anything other than the Colombia trail shoes and you enjoy the Cliftons... you might also really enjoy Hoka's Speedgoats.
Aw my 2XU are reaching the end of their lives sadly I think, but I've been wearing them for a loooong time! They're so good. Sorry to hear about your ripped ones! Always a sad moment. Glad you agree re the shoes, and I'll check out the speedgoats - I love the name! 🙌🏼
I have for years now got up early to get my run in before the children get up. It really sets me up for the day. In fact if I don’t get up I feel more sluggish that day and less productive. Thanks for the information I have only just started following you and I am really liking what you do. Xx
Just found you on UA-cam and it’s so refreshing to see someone give advice who actually wears the stuff they are talking about ! I have run for years and done triathlons and this is all great, down to Earth advice. Will definitely be subscribing. Thanks.
Love your recommandations! I might have to use warmer clothes tho, as I live in Canada and the snow is much more common than the rain! (And that most of the time, during winter, the temperature is below -10 degrees Celsius). Each winter, I run on the treadmill, but this year, I might try to go running outdoors! I just need to find the right gear!
Oh yes absolutely- I used to run in germany when it was about the same temp. I enjoyed a warm base layer, top, mid layer and wind proof, well as trackies over my leggings. All about layering! Check out my honest activewear review for other warmer kit.
Just found your channel and I love it! I’m a fellow vegan runner so your content is so helpful and interesting to me. Plus you’re such a natural on camera. You look a bit like Kristin Cavallari... has anyone said that to you beforehand? Anyway...love your channel and content, thank you! Xxx
I've been researching running jackets recently and they're pretty expensive if you want a good one, and I don't wear them very often.. I'm very minimalist when I run
GREAT ROUNDUP! Did you mention the first Columbia, highly packable, waterproof, hoodless FIRST jacket of the ensuing bunch? Would love to know the model... Also, I too love Columbia and wear what are probably NOT ideal running jackets due to lack of breathability, but am a casual runner, who does 4-5 VERY easy 5Ks around my Brooklyn NY Prospect Park -- so, under 4 MILES max each time out .... any thoughts on REASONABLY priced Switchback III or the Evapouration jacket with pitzips? Again, I am NOT a hard-core runner, just a 'girl' looking for gear that allows me to KEEP ON RUNNING THROUGH ALL SEASONS .... THANKS AGAIN; I have subscribed, cuz, OF COURSE i have!! You are GREAT! TY
Aha thank you very much! Annoyingly I'm not even sure all of these styles are still in production. Sadly sportswear seems as much about fashion as actual fashion! But there will be similar styles available for sure.
Hi, I'm just binge watching your channel as I'm nurturing a cold and planning for my first London Winter 10k. I will be travelling for it the night before and heading back home in the afternoon after the event. The hotel will store my overnight bag. I was wondering, what are your tips for travelling runner to not get cold after the run, change etc.?
Hey! At most races there will be somewhere to drop bags and pick up afterwards, where you can keep extra layers etc. For a longer race I would usually run with a backpack with extra layers but 10k it's probably not worth it!
@@FloraBeverley Thank you. I got sent a bag that I can fill and drop off before the start. Guess I will then just have to find somewhere to get changed into dry clothes. I have to be very careful not to get swept by the wind if my back in particular is sweaty as I'm prone to lingering chesty coughs. I did a 10k event on new years day and found my back got really cold really quickly after the event. I will get a vest like one in your video for the most precious things as I will be there by myself and looking for thay base layer too as may help Thanks so much x
I've been looking at the Jack Wolfskin Crosstrail 6 because of the pockets on the straps - do you know if a phone will fit in either pocket? I'm using an iphone x in a case.
Have you ever checked out Icebreaker or any other merino wool base layers, socks, wind jackets, etc.? I tend to need warmer materials here in Upstate New York for winter runs, as they are brutal! Merino wool is supposed to cool you off in heat and keep you warm in cold. It is also eco-friendly, as no animals are hurt to produce the products. It's a whole different world once I discovered merino wool. I can run in the rain and snow now much more minimalist and tend to do it more often for this reason. Also, LOVE my Hoka Cliftons since the Clifton 1! Thanks for the review.
@@FloraBeverley I totally understand! Sounds like you already know more about it that I do! However, I did research and it is ethically collected merino wool, no harm and quite eco-friendly. On another note, I was finally able to get my first pair of On Cloud (waterproof) trainers!! They come on Monday, as I had a gift certificate. No more frost bitten toes on freezing, sleeting winter days! haha. I am so excited to get them. Great video! I truly enjoyed!
I cannot find that lightweight columbia rain jacket ANYWHERE,. Anyone know the exact name or got something similarly light and not too much of a... noisy waterproof? I want the material to be bit softer on my skin if that makes sense so i can just wear a vest underneath?
Yes. Check out Icebreaker's sale items. I have the cool-lite rush windbreaker. It is packable and super warm, soft and nice. So light, you won't believe it does all of this. Still looks like loads are on 50% off sale at icebreaker.com for last year's model! I bought it a few months ago on sale as well. I find that I only need to change up my base layers now in autumn/winter and wear this over it.
Hi Flora my name is Richard and I absolutely love you and your channel when I run and bike I wear woman’s black footed Tights so the ankle doesn’t ride up everything stays in place and for more comfort I don’t wear shorts with my Tights just Windbreaker and Tights sincere ❤ from Canada ❤Richard
Hiya, I've just restarted c25k but compared to when I ran before, I now have a lot more things I need take (a couple of keys, access card to my building and an inhaler) I've been wearing a coat with pockets but it's not the most comfortable to wear, so does anyone know of anything that is comfortable to wear to carry these in? Thanks! x
Did you ever try one of those armbands? I am not looking forward to running with a bag when I get to longer distances and I don't really mind getting wet myself, apart from my phone that I will want to bring for safety reasons. I'm always running alone in very rural and remote areas. 😊
@@hjhaaksma I hate armbands but there are belts you can get if you dont want a bag. Personally I love bags - they're much comfier than you might expect!
Thanks for getting back to me. I have been looking into belts as well. I have been using one actually, but it is not waterproof at all (didn't claim to be). But with the torrential rainfall we had the last few days I didn't know what to do. So your video was just the right time! Just didn't get a clear answer for this question. I guess I will have to try and see 😉
No skins?? They are all I wear for running. The fit and compression are far supreme for me. I save the 2xu for the gym. They also do long sleeve tops which in Australia is generally all you need with a light weight rain or wind jacket if the weather is inclement. As for socks 'compress sports' are the best for saving toenails & preventing blisters.
No windproof in your kit list? Every waterproof I've ever owned had left me a sweaty mess when running no matter how breathable it claims to be. A simple pertex windproof shell layered over a long sleeved running top might not be absolutely waterproof but keeps you warm enough and much more comfortable overall than any rain jacket will
The red columbia and blue asics are both touted as being wind proof and are my faves for not being boiled in a bag 😅 the purple columbia is much less breathable
Like I think I mentioned in the vlog, i use it all, and give away that which I don't use. Also sustainability is not just buying from sustainable brands, it is using things as much as possible and not buying constantly. Frequently buying sustainable gear is a big problem too. Having said that, I think we could all improve and I include myself in that!
