Gimkit Tutorial for Teachers

- Learn how to use Gimkit, a game-based learning program that stands out from some of the other game-based programs because of its game-within-a-game style of play. Gamification is one of the most effective strategies for increasing engagement and mixes up the way students review content, while also helping them retain information.
In this video, Sam shows teachers how to set up Gimkit question kits as well as how each of the gameplay modes works. You’ll learn how to use popular Gimkit gameplay modes such as Humans versus Zombies, Boss Battle, The Floor is Lava, Infinity Mode, Trust No One, and the latest addition: Draw That!

Me and my classmates always enjoyed playing Gimkit especially at the end of the school year my teacher let us play Trust No One, Super Rich, Floor is Lava, and FishTopia.

Question: Is it possible to print a PDF or worksheet of the kit questions you put into Gimkit? This is a feature I love with Wordwall, however Gimkit is cheaper and far deeper.
Hi Jason, I know you can print reports, but it doesn't look like they've made the questions printable.

How different is Gimkit from Kahoot? I can't remember if there is a record option on Kahoot.
Gimkit has more game-within-a-game modes than Kahoot, which is mostly just about the initial game of answering questions and earning points.

I used Gimkit for the first time last week after hearing about it on your channel and I’m excited about using it more. I started with the Floor is Lava because I figured that was one that was different enough to interest my students but predictable enough to know it wasn’t going to take the whole period. One big question I have (granted, I’m not get through this whole video so maybe you answer it) is how long do some of the versions take? I imagine the infinity mode or Trust No One could take a long time with all the other things the students are thinking of other than just reviewing their vocabulary. Any suggestions for how much time to expect if I decide to try one of those modes?
Hi Ginny, Thanks for your question, and my apologies for the long delay in responding. Yeah, some of the games can take quite a long time (esp. Trust No One). In general the less involved the games are, the faster they tend to go, though you can also make them go faster by adjusting the settings when you set the game up.

How do you remove inappropriate names during the game?
Your best bet is to set up classes (on the left-hand side of the screen when logged in). That makes it impossible for students to choose another name/write an inappropriate name.
How can I adjust it to be limited to just 8quiz? Because when I finish 8quiz it will run a same quiz please answer🙏🏻🙏🏻
I appreciate that a high school student designed this tool, however, he/she should sell it to school districts rather than teachers. Teachers already give away a lot of personal time (lesson prep, before school, after school) and some even supply a lot of materials out of their own pockets. If my district were to buy this tool, I'd use it; if not, I won't.

Not that I know of; it looks like it's a heavily requested feature though.

Totally understand Jade. I'd always look to try and get my administration to pay for any apps I plan to use in the classroom and letting them know how I think it'll improve student learning outcomes.
