If I remember correctly, the crayon thing i suppose to work because the paper on the outside of the crayon acts like the wick with the wax of the crayon serving the function that candle wax does.
Never tested it so i wouldn't know if its actually true.
Ive tried it before and it doesnt work very well, the paper quickly absorbs the hot wax and self extinguishes
Funny thing is even with solar power, there are a few sites where they use mirrors to redirect sunlight to a central point to, you guessed it, boil water to turn a turbine.

Idly considering heat panels 53.5 degrees north: because the energy conversion rate is better than you get with PV. Would need to use a coolant other than just plain water though (maybe just air which I saw on UA-cam video once). Low grade heat then can then be run through a heat pump.
