Hey, you guys just save me a small fortune! Both of my ballasts went out in my HID headlights. Nissan wanted a few hundred for parts and labor. I bought 2 ballasts for $50 and changed them this weekend. My labor was free, thanks to you guys. I only lost a couple of gallons of sweat, but I saved hundreds! Thanks again!

Heads up people you do NOT have to do this for simply changing out a light bulb, only changing out the headlight assembly. The author needs to put this in the description. This is way too much over-work for just a bulb replacement if all you're going to do is a bulb replacement, but great video for replacing the entire housing.
+EpicATrain Yes, If you just need to replace the headlight bulb you should be able to reach around the back of the headlight to service it. 1aauto.com

You have to do it , if you need to change the ballast on the HID bulbs.
@@1AAuto you’re giving out misinformation on that. All I’m trying to do is replace the bulb & there’s no possible way to just reach my hand down & unclip the back like you showed in the beginning. I have an 06.

@888forme No, if you just need to chance the bulbs you can reach in and remove them from the back of the headlight. This is shown at the very beginning of the video. Hope this helps.
phenomenal; paid $81 to have covers buffed out 2 yrs ago and should have bought replacement covers and did this myself to save $60. TY!

I just changed the projector bulb on my car. You don't need to take out the whole headlight assembly. All you have to do is open the front portion of the wheel liner. It will give you access to a grey cap with ridges and a tab, open this. From here you will see a silver connector socket with a lighting bolt symbol, the connector pulls right off. You will now see the back of the bulb, it is still held in place by a sort of metal clip. You need to squeeze the clip and pull it back to release the bulb. From here, just pull the bulb out. When replacing the bulb, line the ridges up and push it into the socket, You replace the clip by squeezing it and pushing it against the back of the bulb, it should lock into the ridges. Make sure you do this correctly this clip holds the bulb in place, nothing else. Common sense should guide you from here.

Just changed the passenger side light. As informative as it was I laughed and just unbolted the anti freeze canister and moved it enough to get to the head light. Saves a bunch of time and effort.

@tastyorange At the very beginning of this video we show you how to remove the headlight bulb without having to take the headlights out.
You may be able to follow some of the basic steps show in the halogen install. The HIDs could be slightly different in the way that they mount.

These car manufacturers really looked for a way to ensure they hermetically sealed these headlights, making it harder for the average joe to do simple maintenance.

There may be a kit on the internet somewhere that would enable you to convert it to HID.

You will have to swap over both the ballast igniter and the bulbs if they did not come with any.

I actually just found out today that the new car I bought - 2006 Nissan Murano has stock HID lights. I thought it had weak LED lights. I'm not sure how to make them brighter. They are very dim. Would it be possible to gut them and replace them with bright LED lights or would it be possible to replace the bulbs with brighter HID bulbs? I don't know anything about HID lights or the amount of work needed to do to replace anything mentioned above.

If you have XENON HID lighting, then they are different than the halogen headlights.
i used this instruction to fixed my HID lamps with new ballasts. Thanks. Only part that's hard to remove for me is the PIN (3:23). i wasn't able to get it off and i ended up cutting it. if anyone wants to attempt to do this remember to get some Fender Clips, you can replaced the old ones in case you break them.

I have a 2003 Murano. I am pretty sure it has Xenons. I cannot see at night. I see that the top bulbs are dim. I don't know how it is possible to replace those bulbs without taking out the whole assembly. I cannot get my hand in back there otherwise.

Great video. I paid close to 11600 in changing of the ballast and new lights, and the left side went out again! due to water going in, they saying I need a new housing. I might just attempt this myself cuz they are trying to charge me 800 for the part alone!

I am confused... I need to change just the globes and... My 05 Murano doesn't do that .. I have to pull apart multiple things to do so . How small is your hand and why doesn't my headlight cap look like that?

This guy has people going all around the world just turn your tire pull wheel protector down reach in with your hand and change the bulb instead of taking the entire front bumper off it’s changing a bulb not reconstructing the entire front end...GEEZ BRO..

I need to only replace the headlight bulb on the driver side . do I have to take the grill off as well? or can I change it from under the wheel on the driver side?
I trouble shooted today. I took the bulb from the other side and the bulb didn't come on. what do you think that the issue is? I was thinking either the mount or the computer.

Ok.. changed the headlights but never saw where the ballast is located. They’re not on the headlight.
Please make video for 2nd gen (2009-2014) Murano - Headlamp (HID), Parking light, Daytime running light and og lights. This will be greatly appreciated. I haven't found any on youtube for 2nd gen murano. Specially LE edition has different headlight which is a nicer headlight for murano series but surprisingly a lot less discussed.

why so difficult ? changed bulb on my Mustang just took pins out, headlight cover, put new bulb in. took me longer typing this comment than it did to replace bul.

How do you do it if it has xenon lights?
If changing just bulb. The right passenger side U need to need to remove the antifreeze tank unless you have skinny hands
