Hi I noticed you used a primer on the bricks presumably this is for a key and to even up suction and do you have to use a primer on all block and brick substrates? Can you also spray that base coat rather than hand apply and just flatten off?
the speedskim finish on the basecoat, is it enough key for the topcoat? good job btw. I done some k rending years ago in London, been out of the loop for a while but got my first silicon job coming up
Yes the speedskim does the job just get it as flat and smooth as possible cause if you don’t it will show when finish is put on, hope all goes well for you
Hi lads Iv got a project in Greece I’m a spread over 40 years the property is very similar as in the original render is absolutely solid , just needs patching up in the odd places , I presume I would have to use the same step by step method as youv done here ? As the client was asking coukd I not. Just patch up , prime , ree beed then apply the finish 1 half mill coat ?
Just one coat of the base coat and then the mesh and use the notched trowel to bed the mesh in and then flatten, also use more render to fill any low spots when flattening
The base coat will usually get hard enough that it won’t effect it but as a rule when doing any outside work like rendering or bricklaying etc always check the weather and be a 100% sure that it’s going to be dry.
Thanks bud I get my silicone render supplies at MKM building supplies in Chelmsford Essex I assume other branches supply it as well but you would have to check hope this helps you.

The owner is an idiot if you put lights directly onto a wall like that it’s always going to show and we told him this from the start we told him that the existing wall would have to be flattened but he wouldn’t pay for it
Really enjoyed watching these. Good job guys!

Hi do u not put 2 coats of render on.
Ie mesh coat then coat on top of mesh just skim coat.
Looks really well though ladds

Hey mate doing some of this soon thinking of getting 5mm beads is this what you used?
Yes mate they were
After the base coat sets what happens if it rains and the base coat gets all wet. Will it be ok once the base coat dries back up. Many thanks.

The notch trowel not needed, the better the mesh and base coat the better the finish will be,the primer is key ,and tinted
To the finish colour
Totally disagree this is how we were taught to do it when we did the course and it works for us and we get a great finish
Do you sponge your basecoat to remove spatula lines once ruled flat?
Yes you can go over it with a flat sponge float refina do a good one just make sure it’s the right consistency before sponging it shouldn’t be to wet.
What sort of time are you finding to sponge?
@@DanielWilkinson-uk5wo it all depends on temperature so basically if you can poke your finger into it then it’s to wet
You should fold the mesh into the internal corners
Starting to look good mate. Can I ask where your buying the materials from. Thanks john ps as I can only find Webbers and K render at my local Selco.

What material is this please
what depth are the beads please?
Of the top of my head I think they are about 6mm
so far so good

A gdzie to mozna zobaczyc?
you want the scrim at the front face of the wall, don't push it back with that notch trowel lol
I have to ask ,have you done a course on silicone render?
@@worklife4221 I haven't just used a tons of mesh its fantastic stuff, great video btw
The mesh goes in the basecoat not the topcoat.
@@nom843 If you actually watched the video you would see that the mesh did go in the base coat.
@@nom843 Is that a question? If so then yes the mesh does go in the base coat as seen in the video
Looking for someone to do mine? possible?
It would depend on where you live
