    Wow,I actually get it now.I have been breathing in it wrong all along.If I would just channel my breath into it steadily,it would sound right.I am so glad that I Lund your saxophone for beginners video because it has inspired to pick my saxophone up again tomorrow.

    I've been playing sax for quiet a few years, but love your vids. Very helpful on a number of levels. I have recommended a couple of people look at these.

    Great explanation on this critical technical aspect for a sax player. Everything derives from a good breathing technique. MexSax 🌵🎷

    so im just learning the sax and when i play i find me self having to blow really hard to make a noise. also its very squeaky and is difficult to get a smooth decisive note. you seem to do it with great ease and minimal effort. any tips?

    I easily get a sound out on the mouth piece and without pushing any keys but when I try to play any notes I can't get out low notes or they come out high.... I play flute so I understand how to get different notes out by changing my positioning but I can't seem to grasp a reed instrument.... any tips?

    I seem to build up carbon dioxide and so need to breath out loads before I then breathe in again. Any advise?

    Must be exhausting exhaling through the mouth. How long can you play for without resting?

    Pity: you taught 5,000 people the wrong way to spell the verb "breathe." Now many of the comments repeat the same error. Torture for the rest of us.

    I have minor sinus problems that sometimes makes it hard to breath in quickly trough my nose. Will this be a problem if I want to to learn to play saxophone?

    • @jonniewadd56
      @jonniewadd56 5 років тому

      I don't think so!! Choose music that won't require long periods of requiring a full tank of air. Also, to breathe in, crack open your embouchure and fill up, don't necessarily have to be through your nose.

    A rudimentary video which basically says breathe in hard and release breath steadily. Not really following on how to breathe through a number of notes

    Face should be more relaxed when playing.

      Hi Julia, thanks for your comments...I have always blown hard and when in the practice room used a full length mirror to check stance and face/head/neck position. For me, as all players, it is the sound production thats important so I may look a little tight but I am perfectly relaxed inside to achieve my sound. However if I am teaching one to one I would recommend my pupils to relax when they play as much as possible. ... G

      thesaxteacher Hi, thanks for your reply! Sorry if it my comment sounded rather rude!! Yes, I have pupils who tense up terribly and especially in the face; startled rabbit look so I demonstrate keeping the face really soft as the whole body is linked up!
