$150 USD for the 280mm AIO is still pretty expensive when you take Thermalright and Deepcool into account. Corsair could afford to be way more aggressive in pricing, especially given their coolers don't even perform at the top of most charts...

What do I think when I see corsair? HX520W PSU, it served me well and probably still would work if I used it. My first thought, then it would be AIOs, A50 120mm AIO 😊 After that a lot has happened but those 2 were Corsairs stars at start long time ago. RAM, almost.forgot about their spectacular RAM at the time.
Have to say tho, since then it all got overcomplicated and they aren't best perf per dollar anymore in a lot of segments they were if they are in any nowdays. But I still like the brand.

The market is changing, with every PC part costing over $100 we need more things like this. Without cheap alternatives that also perform well a lot of people would just give up. I remember when building a decent PC with a mid gpu was almost as cheap as buying a console, now trying to build anything under $1000 is downright impossible with all these stupid terrifs, inflation and scalping going on.

For the lower cost AIO's, I'd expect similar or less prices than Arctic's A-RGB rates. As an example I looked up the Arctic Freezer II 420A-RGB is at $99.99. The Freezer III 420A-RGB is at $134.99. Again this is at maximum. Like others have mentioned there are many other lower cost AIO options that would perform similarly with similar reliability. Morals/ethics are dope until it's unaffordable, then you buy what you can. That's how the market thinks at least.

Given the performance of AIOs vs the better air coolers and the cost of industry "standard custom cooling" , the only way I'd go liquid cooled is "true custom". I want high end cold plates with plumbing industry standard "NPT" threaded fittings (which may already be the case, IDK).
I have some antique automotive parts that I'd put to work: radiator, fan, and water pump from a 1948 Willys Jeep. I'd build that into a system using a combination of sweat-soldered copper fitting and tubing along with AN fittings and steel braided automotive hose. The belt-driven water pump and the fan attached to it would be driven by a fairly hefty DC motor on a controller and it's own power supply.
If I went all-out, I could fab some sheet metal with some 3D printed greebles and mount the rest of the PC inline behind the water pump disguised as an old flat-head inline four cylinder engine. Could be a lot of fun.

Deep Cool and Thermaltake (and othEr companies) make excellent AIO coolers that perform well, are reliable, and last. Best of all they are all under $200 and many are under $100. They mostly use the same pumps the expensive coolers use. AIOs don't need to be expensive to work. You can even buy inexpensive round lcd displays to mount on the pump of plain AIOs. There is no need to spend a lot for a quality AIO.

    • @MowMdown
      @MowMdown 22 дні тому

Well that’s your problem you think “more money = higher quality” and that’s not true.
In fact there’s a point where “more money = worse quality” because those companies know you’ll spend the money without doing any kind of research into the products quality.
With AIOs, it won’t matter which one you buy because they all are pretty much made by the same company with a different logo slapped on.

The easy solution to RGB, LCD screen, and hidden cable proliferation is to use a case with no window. That way, you won't be tempted to overspend on that sort of crap; it all becomes irrelevant. With a non-windowed case, not even your plain-Jane GPU, wonky cable management, and brown Noctua fans will matter. But who's making good cases with no window? @RyTrapp0 23 дні тому +1

That's a pretty disingenuous comparison - the cheapest chinese junk that Walmart has to offer compared to an actually known high quality, premium PC component manufacturer? If you want ultra cheap PC fans, you can get them for literally a couple dollars on the usual online markets. Hell, I bought a Kingwin 120mm from Microcenter for like $4 a couple years ago just because it was a 120mm fan for $4.
For PWMs, Thermalright TL-C12 & TL-G12 are both available for $5 each on NewEgg - or you can get a 3-pack of TL-C12s for $10; $3.33 per fan(these are the standard fans on the Peerless Assassin 120 cooler, never heard anyone complain about them; they're very comparable to MUCH more expensive fans). There's nothing else even in the ballpark of that of course, cuz Thermalright is doing Thermalright things.
      Or there's the classic, Arctic's F12 PWM PSTs(the OG daisy chain) for $30 in a 5-pack.
Be Quiet Pure Wings 2s or 3s for $10 a piece.
Noctua 'Redux' series is ~$15, and they're Noctua quality(and service) obviously.
Completely different standard for tolerances too, stand fans are made of the cheapest materials to mediocre standards because, frankly, that's "good enough". This also isn't a competitive market at all, nothing like the PC fan market, a generic fan can stay on the market 10, 15, 20+ years without changes or 'generational updates' because no one is comparing their performance with hardcore testing, no one cares about new features, or RGB, etc. They're just cheap fans, made cheaply, out of cheap materials and cheap components, to relatively low standards. Frankly, they're comparable to that crappy couple dollar Kingwin fan I bought - not anything that Corsair makes.
You're just comparing 2 completely different things TBH

I guess, judging by their current financials (Net revenue: $337.3 million, compared to $417.3 million in Q4 2023), they need to start selling things that most people can afford, hence the lack of RGB and cheaper AIOs. I hope this isn't a one off and also becomes a thing for the whole industry, mainly the no RGB.

Not a ‘fan’ of AIOs in general. I think $150 for a 280mm is still too much for me. BUT for someone who might want that Corsair ecosystem, I don’t think it’s too much of a price to pay.

Regarding the AIOs, I think Thermalright is going to destroy everyone with 360 AIOs with screens under $120.

£30 per RS120 Max fan, damn... but it is nice. Corsair need an Artic Freezer II and III killer, so when will we see that?

At 6:01, it is said (tongue in cheek, no doubt) that cables are shameful. I do not hold such a viewpoint, cables are no more shameful that the tendons on the back of ones hands. Like tendons, cables are vital infrastructure that allow the components to work together as a harmonious whole. That is not to imply that cables need be covered/highlighted with LED's. On the contrary, I am personally weary of seeing the ubiquitous aquarium presentation for PC's. If vibrant coloring and apparent motion is really so important, the aficionada of the same should consider actual salt-water aquariums.

Uhh.. No more maglev fans?? (Sorry, but I'm starting to figure out what fans to get to cool my new (home made) network rank - while pricey, was thinking about using maglev fans (also got other fans under consideration too)...

Corsair lowering cost on new versions of existing product lines…does that mean Corsair is using even flimsier parts to lower the price?

Looks like I'm the real innovator since my current PC which was built in July 2020 has no RGB, in fact it doesn't even have a window (I've been building PCs since 1988 and long ago lost my fasciation on what they look like internally) and for the price of a 240 AIO with RGB I was able to get a 360 with no RGB for the same price. Plus my memory was $25 cheaper than the exact same ones with RGB lighting ...... The exact same case (Phanteks) with RGB fans and a window was $75 more.
I'm still on the same Windows 10 install from July 2020 and don't seem to have nearly as many problems with games as most others do and I believe that is in part due to having zero RGB software running in the background mucking things up ...... So my total system cost was not only cheaper it is noticeably more stable than most of the ones with the goofy light shows

They really need to drop that Corsair tax. Link looks nice but $50/fan is bad. Their stuff looks cool but like Asus they're completely priced out of the budget market.
