Man what a year. Found out about cohhcarnage with subnatica and soon found out about dropped frames. Love this community and was awesome seeing all your guys lists! Here's to 2019.
0:05 - Top 5 streamed games
30:00 - Top 10
1:39:20 - Community choices
1:43:50 - Ending
One of the greatest things about this podcast (that it has in illustrious company with the Cooptional Podcast) that all of the podcasters have different gaming preferences. Almost every kind of video gamer is represented in some way, and the Game of the Year episode is the perfect place to see that.
the best thing about these lists is all the fan boys crying there games were not where they wanted them to be lol. one of the reasons this goty show was soo good is because they really list what they personaly enjoyed the most, and not what games they think should be there for everyone. ps, love cohhs top 3 :)
You guys are wrong about your own opinions!
I mean, it's not hard to understand why people are shocked certain games aren't on there looking at the viewer polled favorites (which I wish they would have spent more time on), so I don't really revel in that.
I do look at their favorites as tells of their character, an invitation to understanding why certain games didn't make it (which they explain), and a recommendation list for watching and playing (the biggest use for me).
Try to stay positive. It's 2019 :)
it makes me more happy than it probably should to c the recognition for Pathfinder: Kingmaker & Subnautica. a fine show as so often!
The Top 5 Streamed list was a great idea. JP's list was perfect.
I'm working my way through my first time in subnautica. Having a bit of a time pushing forward, it's such a terrifying game for people who are already scared of the ocean/deep water. Everything else about it though from the crafting/graphics/exploring is amazing. There is a real fear I won't complete it as anything past 200m just makes my heartbeat skyrocket (which is such a props to the developers).
I have the exact same situation. I love Subnautica. I recognize that it's an incredible game. I also recognize that it taught me that I have undeniable thalassophobia and I experience legitimate anxiety playing the game. Even though I struggle to play it because of that fear, I still plan to buy and play the expansion/DLC. It's just that good.
I'm surprised "Into The Breach" wasn't mentioned at all though.
I was worried Kenshi wouldn't make your list because you recently started playing it, glad to see the love for one of my favorite games Cohh!
Monster Hunter World is the game of the year with God of war as a close second
Other than Yakuza, Cohh's list is the one I always agree with. I really do like that all three hosts have different niches and things they enjoy.
I really wish Subnautica worked better on Xbox. I bought the early access a few months ago and enjoyed what I could, but it's practically unplayable in its current form. They released their first update in about 9 months recently, but it was only minor fixes. I know they're working on it...but damn, I didn't think it would be such a long wait.
Yeh it's unplayable with the pop in on Xbox X, although I haven't tried it again in awhile.
I should've gotten it on pc when it was free, bummer
Awhh I'm sad kcd does not make it in cohh list, i thought you love it eventhough it's buggy, well it's your list so yeaa
Should i be able to see this? Its not on the channel page but in my recommend lol
Anyone know of any other podcasts that have 2018 game awards like this?
Giant Bomb has almost 25 hours of discussion spread over 5 videos on their channel. Be warned: They do a group list where they have to all agree and get very passionate about their games. Lots of arguing but I think the arguing makes it interesting.
@@Stampede_Gaming Stuff like this is exactly what I was looking for, thank you! The only ones I know of are Dropped frames and Co Optional but co optional haven't done their one yet I assume
I hope Zeke streams Far Cry: New Dawn. Would be a great co-op stream to watch.
I think Spiderman is a good game that eventually becomes a great story but for me the open world stuff is massively generic and by the numbers. Good lists though, some stuff on there that I will have to try myself this year
I can't count the amount of times Cohh praises devs on working extra to fix their games.
With all the current environment about crunch maybe he should lay off that a bit and not encourage it so hard.
Not to forget he said to keep politics out of it when a game dev union came up in the news several weeks back.
Silence was a choice then and it says so much about what he really cares about when he so heavily praises the crunch time.
I don't think he's praising crunch time at all. He's praising devs that listen to feedback and work their NORMAL HOURS to fix the game and not just abandon the game and move on to the next project.
lol
Wtf Cohh? Calling Kingdom Come Deliverance a "cluster" and a "buggy broken mess" at release? Broken combat? You liked the combat and praised it in your playthrough! Couldn't finish most of the quests? Not true, I watched your whole playthrough!
I think you are mistaking it for Pathfinder Kingmaker, which was and still is actually broken. KCD was not nearly as bad as you say here, and if you go back and watch your own playthrough you know it's true! Also saying it got barely better is just a lie!
Sure it had some issues at release, but it was also a breath of fresh air to the rpg genre. It's my personal favorite game of 2018 but I'm the first to admit it could have been more polished at release, but it was still way better than any Bethesda game studio title ever and the developers are actually fixing the game. But what you are saying here about the game is just a plain lie! I'm disappointed.
I too found what he said about KCD odd, but what he is saying is an opinion and not a lie. There are clear differences between the two.
its his opinion, he obviously enjoyed kingmaker more as he enjoys crpgs way more overall, so dispite all the issues with pathfinder the fact it still made his no.10 shows how much he enjoyed it regardless. he enjoyed kcd as well sure, but just not enough. does it mattter? its his list.
He has every right to enjoy Pathfinder Kingmaker more, no matter the state of the game. I don't complaint that KCD didn't make his list, it's his list and I don't care.
But the things he said about KCD and how he couldn't finish most quests simply aren't true, just watch his playthrough and you'll see it. That's why I call it a lie. If he said KCD didn't make his list because he didn't like it as much, that's fine. But he said it was a broken mess, with broken combat and he wasn't able to finish most of his quests, which again, is not true.
Yeah I agree, it was far from "hot mess" or a "cluster f.." And him playing it shit tons just doesn't compute. I played the game through and through(after major patching) and it was flawless experience, as in..didn't see any major nor minor bugs at any point. And it definitely is my game of the year. Opinions aside, facts do matter.
Hello I saw this comment before cohh got to his opinion on KCD I think there's a slight bit of confusion he did state that it WAS a buggy mess when it came out and that there WERE combat problems when it came out and he did say it has gotten better but at first yes there were some serious issues with it that he had and I remember seeing those problems at the very beginning. I think you blew it a little out of proportion with all due respect but then again that is just my opinion.
No Dead Cells, Into the Breach or RDR2. I don't even know man...
It's their opinions. Who gives a fuck
@@SpecCBK Thank you! Jesus christ people are thick :D If you have a top5, it's not going to have 1700 games in it.
I still think AC: Odyssey was a terrible and overrated game.
After Origins, and the first ten or so hours, I was beginning to think the same.. It is somewhat of a slow burner, but once it gets going it is incredible.. There's a reason even those who lost faith in the series couldn't say enough good things about it.. Having said that, I'm one of those people who enjoyed AC3 amd Unity (oddly enough not Syndicate) so I guess I'm a little biased in that regard..
I think it's good. The world is big and new, but it's definitely a step back from Origins because the game has lost its identity. The story is janky. It's hard to get engaged in it when it feels you are grinding and not experiencing the game. Hopefully, what comes next fixes things.
Where is red dead
In the first part of the show, first category.
honestly rdr2 shouldn't make a top 10 since part of it isn't released yet.
also the part you play as john is boring af....
@@jordyvandewiele3904 You are crazy
CrissCHG well... sure its just the parts where you build your home is tedious and has no reason to be this long button sequence...
The online beta should have happened before the release of the game.
So basicly up and until arthur died it was a good game...
The only thing getting me past it was the option to kill micah
@@jordyvandewiele3904 Honestly, I personally think that rdr2 got all these rewards from everyone just because they had a lot of time to build up the hype and released it quite late of year. I really doubt it would gather as much positive attention from media if it was released, let's say, in February.
