This is a fantastic conversation with Giueppe. The options with these products is fantastic. I would love to try some all of these especially the Italicus.

Big fan of Italicus. I remember when it launched here in NY. I believe it was Southern Wine who gave us a ton of it to feature for an event. Great interview!

have not seen the Savoia in stores-I literally bought Italicus the first time I saw a bottle entirely on the quality of the bottle-I assumed that anyone who paid that much attention to packaging design likely paid attention to what was inside. As a home bar enthusiast, I tend to lean into completionism, lol, so I'll buy the Sovoias should I find them.

@@MasterYourGlass I might have to try and make something with the Italicus along the lines of a Negroni Bianco. Already pushing 70°F here, feels warm in the sun... and Saturday. Would love to see some novel uses for this fine stuff. Had also considered variations along the Corpse Reviver #2/Last Word spec, or even a Pegu Club variant...

The popularity of Vermouth during Prohibition in America found its way the the UK where it was combined with gin. The Brits named the cocktail Gin and It, the It short form for Italian Vermouth. I learned this from my English MIL who drank it as a young woman back in the day and still enjoys a Gin and It with a twist of lemon on occasion currently.

Wonderful story. Thanks for sharing it. Vermouth was definitely a game changer in cocktails throughout that era.

i don't understand why drinking has to be so pretentious. we sound just like drug dealers talking about their special version... i think it's unfortunate.
