A couple of points. The longest river in Europe is the Volga, followed by the Danube. On the point of GB plates. One of the conditions of Brexit was that we had to change our country ID plates to UK…..insisted on by the French, AND, the French insist on full sized UK stickers, not ID on number plates. That is only acceptable for EU members. Sorry to sound pedantic, but if you are giving information in reply to questions you don’t want to give out duff info. I really doubt the GB thing would cause a problem unless you got stopped for something else, but it’s the French that insisted on it, so if anyone is going to object it’s them…..
@@steveminers5764 Greetings from N.I. Clive is obviously away to look up his "encyclopedia britannica" to see who's right. LOL . You must display the UK identifier when driving a UK -registered vehicle abroad. If your number plate includes the UK identifier with the Union flag (also known as the Union Jack), you do not need a UK sticker.
Bring on the bridges! Very much looking forward to seeing this tour unfold, I appreciate that tour series do not always secure massive view numbers but they are thoroughly enjoyed by those of us that watch every minute!
Great first episode. My wife previously lived in France for several years and we have been tempted several times to make the trip across the channel, but first we have the 550 miles to get to Dover! I think 2025 could be our year. Looking forward to seeing the next episode

I was looking forward to this latest tour, sorry I'm a week late to the party, but episode 2 has just dropped, but already I am gripped. Firstly because, although I haven't riden my motorbike around this area, I have driven around it many times, admittedly 80% on motorways when I was a hgv driver, but was also lucky enough to use the nationals, and spend weekends parked up in some of the towns. You'll find Plane trees alongside old roads in France and particularly in the south as Napoleon decreed they were to be planted to provide his troops with shade when moving about. Often they will only be on one side of the road as the road in question was too narrow to have them on both sides for cars so they removed half of them.
These tours may not be the most watched, but they are a nice way ti chill out in the evening and enjoy some great scenery. The Goldwing seems very good at low speed. About 18:35 for example.
This is a fabulous tour video! Looking forward to the rest. Love that you give us all the hints and tips on packing and planning! Bet you were missing your biker buddies though!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Looking forward to your holiday, was very interesting in the road tag as I know from experience of paying for tickets in the past is a proper pain, great idea thanks for sharing.
Hi Andy, just watched the vid again. Good stuff. Love the whole tour concept. My first foray was in '79 with Mrs C. on the mighty Z1000. Loosely planned, we headed for North Africa but ran out of time in southern Spain. Too many impromptu stops you see, but they added to the overall success of the trip. Too much planning dulls the opportunities to experience off piste ' happenings along the way ' I agree, maps are great and thanks for the toll tip. Unlucky with Ventoux, great views but correct decision. Anyway, I won't go on..bring on the next instalment. Cheers !
Looks like the start of a great trip. I’m not far from Marlow and the bridge does look similar albeit medieval. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Thats very kind of you to say - and yes it takes longer than the actual tour (which I am still editing having spent all of last week doing so over some very long days!)
Cheers from Texas, and contrats for driving on the wrong side of the street for a bit :) I don't blame you for replacing that rear tire, I did the same before my trip to Colorado on my 2023 Goldwing very recently. I'll pick up the service plan when my factory 3 yr warranty expires.. effectively covering 6 years.
Hey guys looks like you had an amazing time. We were halfway up lake como just recently in a place called tremezzo and every second vehicle was a BMW GS or some other touring bike. The roads from there up into Switzerland were absolutely pristine. I was so jealous 😂
Visiting some of my favourite areas , unfortunately no longer fit enough to do it on two wheels ,so very much look forward to seeing them through your eyes . Enjoy ,ride safe ,and I'll look forward to the next few weeks .
On a recent bike trip to visit a friend living near Nîmes, I was told the trees lining the roads are mostly plane trees which were planted under instruction from Napoleon. They were situated to offer shade to his marching troops in hot weather.

Yes it's a very well balanced bike at slow speed.....
This is a fabulous tour video! Looking forward to the rest.
Love that you give us all the hints and tips on packing and planning! Bet you were missing your biker buddies though!!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it - sadly our biker buddies couldn't join us as they were off on their own tour in the Picos.... ;0)
Love the tour video's and good info 👍
Glad you like them!
Looking forward to your holiday, was very interesting in the road tag as I know from experience of paying for tickets in the past is a proper pain, great idea thanks for sharing.
My pleasure Tony, and yes the TAG worked a treat, really recommend it if you go to France multiple times a year as we do....
Too much planning dulls the opportunities to experience off piste ' happenings along the way '
I agree, maps are great and thanks for the toll tip.
Unlucky with Ventoux, great views but correct decision.
Anyway, I won't go on..bring on the next instalment. Cheers !
Working on Stephen - editing the later episodes as I type! Stay tuned.....
Looks like the start of a great trip. I’m not far from Marlow and the bridge does look similar albeit medieval. I look forward to the rest of the series.
Delighted to hear that - plenty more to come!
Good vid easy rider. Beautiful area winging it along.
Thanks 👍
Your editing skills are brilliant. Must take a lot of time. But it is appreciated, so easy and enjoyable to watch. Take care
Thats very kind of you to say - and yes it takes longer than the actual tour (which I am still editing having spent all of last week doing so over some very long days!)
That bridge is probably where French mimes practice "man walking against the wind"
Haha - like it....
I think that must be a warranty extension? A slightly different thing to what I was talking about…
Even the restaurants close for lunch in France 😅🤣
They do!!
Delighted to hear that Chris!
On a recent bike trip to visit a friend living near Nîmes, I was told the trees lining the roads are mostly plane trees which were planted under instruction from Napoleon. They were situated to offer shade to his marching troops in hot weather.
Yes I heard the same.....
Another great vid, Now got my 2022 DCT Tour - wow what A BIKE, best bike I've ever ridden. Now planning Europe trip with the wife next year, booked in with Tuscany tours (after watching your trip)for a week in Sept 25 riding from Scotland through to Tuscany cant wait!
Wow that's a great trip Bob - do tell Adrian at Tuscany Motorcycle Tours I sent you!
Thanks for posting, I'm inspired to have a little tour on my own down there next year. 👍👍.
You should! It’s brilliant - and this tour gets MUCH better yet….
Fantastic love your tour videos and even the wing
We plan our tours in a very similar way to you
We love lake Annecy and the Italian lakes especially the Northen part of Garda
And like you we also love the French villages
Looking forward to the rest of the series
J
Think we're pretty similar then John (Annecy is a favourite of ours too)....must do Garda!
