"It's a company I quite like." So do I. Way back I bought shares, I liked Xpeng so much. The cars are really nice. The P7 is a particular favourite of mine, after sitting in one. I would love it if Xpeng came to the UK [which I believe might indeed happen]. And before someone shouts "Tesla", I am also a Tesla shareholder. And Nio.
Xpeng has never come even close to making a profit, and then sales collapsed. Now sales are on an upward trend. Go Xpeng go. Sell sell sell.
I think Xpeng G6 and G9 are very competitive EVs, not sure anyone can beat them. The EV buyers will soon find out.
huh??? how was the $4B in cash net of debt before the VW deal, on the brink of bankruptcy but $700M from VW transforms them to “flush with cash.” yes, in January when deliveries plummeted to about 5K for the month, there future looked in question due to the fierce competition that emerged last year. But, the rebound in sales has solidly built up the past 6-7 months. They had 15+K deliveries already in September & very strong reviews re G6 & revised G9 & P7i. This picture didn’t just turn around this week.
He doesn’t understand what happened. Also he thinks VW 5% is a indicator of VW eventually buying a controlling share. He is probably incorrect again.
American court found no evidence of Tesla self driving technology in Xpeng during the court case and an American court is definitely not going to fudge evidence in favor of a Chinese company over an American one so any mention of Tesla tech in relation to Xpeng is akin to deceitful smears for market competitiveness of Tesla.

I'm an old skool sedan guy, and Chinese styling don't normally do much for me, but Xpeng styling really smooth, and although I not normally into crossovers that X6 looks really nice. Smart move Vdub.
Glad to see this about XPENG. I owned that stock for a while before it tanked.

No expert thought Xpeng was going bankrupt.
It wasn't close to death either, but things weren't going well. Main problem was the market place failure of the P5 and then they botched launch of the G9. That pretty much killed Xpeng's momentum. Since the G9 launch, Xpeng has been internally reorganising. Main result: appointing Wang Fengying as president. This lady once led the Great Wall brand to great heights. The G9 is actually a very good car and not too expensive. Since a small overhaul and the successful G6-launch, interest in the G9 is up again.
The VW-deal has probably very little to do with it. It's getting the organisation right and the launch of the better looking G6 (the P5 and G9 are a little dull to see) that gave Xpeng the momentum back.
VW bought 6.88% stocks from XPENG - and has no say in it. To have a say you need 51% of a company's stocks.
That's why Mercedes is going down because Chinese companies have a little less than 20% of Mercedes' stocks. If they would have more it would be like with Volvo and Geely: it would be a success.
We want the G9 650 Max, and the X9 640 Max in Switzerland but we are waiting for Emil Frey and DIMAB to reply if they want to import and sell these good vehicles ...
This is good news. BYD need a strong competitor to keep them improving their products.
Sam, have you looked at what Mahindra is doing? I see they have some very interesting concept vehicles on display. They say a 2025 release will include 4 models. Do you have any specs or any other news?

It seems the domestic Chinese market is quite cutthroat and if they believe their products are top notch, they may need to work on global marketing to survive or thrive.

Xpeng or nio as a stock pick .
Lots of delicious options with indicator/lights and wiper/washer control stalks for Tesla owners to trade up to once the bare Highland version and beyond make them unacceptable to me AND number 1.

I love Xpeng, hit's production, technology and styling. NIO not at all. No offense to NIO, I just do not like their business model, car designs, logistics and cash drain of their NIO houses and battery swap. I may be biased, I have Xpeng stock. It has done well and will stick with it.
The more the merrier, get them over to Europe and the UK as soon as possible please
xpeng can certainly make good evs but can it make them cost effectively. this is why i prefer byd, li auto, geely, gwm, aion etc. there are multiple ev makers that already turned profitable. i would stay clear from xpeng and nio. right now their chance ofbsurvival lies with acquisitions (being acquired). that is not very assuring.

Good, we need a few strong Chinese makers. Tesla and these will rule the car market in 10 years. Legacy makers are so far behind it’s laughable and most will end up partnering with China and selling re-badged cars. Toyota, the Jury’s out, Korean makers will be niche players.

Many experts believed. YOU SAM, told everyone to sell it! How much money did you loses on Xpeng Sam, you bought when it was at 52w week highs, and sold right at the bottom, same as you did with NIO. You should not be allowed to give investment advice.

That is nonsense. There was no evidence any code was passed to XPeng and this was verified by an independent 3rd party who compared the code. XPeng was never a party to the case. In fact, Tesla had nothing on the guy and had to settle out of court. The lie was conjured up by Musk and promulgated by his fans.
